Iso-8
Thanos will also gain a lot of benefit from having an attacker Iso Class, Raider, or Striker are both valid options for different reasons. Raider (applying more Vulnerable effects, having higher Crit Damage and Chance), Striker (dealing more damage, rewinding enemies with his Iso-8 follow-up attack)
When using Annihilators in Arena in mirror matches, neither Striker nor Raider will be fully utilized, because Gladiator can prevent Vulnerable from being applied.
T4 Priority
P – Passive ability
U – Ultimate ability
S – Special ability
B – Basic ability
Passive – This upgrade is essential for Thanos. It will allow him to reduce the duration of all positive effects by 5 the first time Thanos drops below 50% Max Health. Positive Abilities that have a duration of 0 are cleared immediately, including Safeguard. So this ability can essentially clear Safeguard as well as all other positive effects, from all enemies. This will also increase the damage of the Passive attack, which is a neat bonus.
Ultimate – Is also essential as it will function similarly to his Passive, only this time he will reduce the duration of all Positive Effects on his enemies by 2 turns.
Special – will apply Trauma and Stun for 2 turns (instead of 1), will increase the damage and the Chain (from 3 enemies to 5). A Stun+Trauma Ability on such a short cooldown is already an incredible ability, but being able to apply that for 2 turns makes this upgrade another essential.
Basic – will only increase the damage of the attack, so it’s not needed. But as an Arena character, it is a good idea to have all abilities upgraded, but only if you have spare T4 Materials.

Theory Craft
Five years after Thanos snapped away half of all life in the universe, the Avengers went back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones and restore the universe as it once was. But the pre-snap version of Thanos discovered their intentions and traveled to the Avengers’ present time. Thanos (Endgame) may not have the Infinity Gauntlet, but he’s armed with a new plan of destroying the entire universe.
Thanos (Endgame) has high Health and Focus stats, so most of his controlling abilities will have no issues landing, but on top of that he is still a Brawler, meaning that he will also deal a ton of damage. His Passive and Ultimate abilities introduce a new mechanic to the game which allows him to essentially clear Safeguard from his enemies, making him one of the best characters in the game.
Basic – Balanced Strikes
Will attack the primary target for damage and will apply Heal Block for 2 turns and 2 Bleed for 1 turn, then it will reduce the Speed Bar of the target by 5%. After that, Thanos will repeat this attack once.
A strong Basic attack that can end up rewinding 15% of the enemy Speed Bar if Thanos is a Striker and the target has Vulnerable, but even without that this attack will still rewind 10% which will be helpful.
Iso-8/Counterattack/Assist
The safety attack will hit the primary target for slightly less damage and won’t repeat, but it will still apply Heal Block for 2 turns, 2 Bleed for 1 turn, and will reduce the Speed Bar by 5%
Special – Unavoidable Future
Energy Cost: 3/3
This ability will start by applying Barrier to self and all allies by 15% of Thanos’s Max Health.
Then, Thanos will attack the primary target, dealing a lot of damage and applying Exposed, Trauma for 2 Turns and Stun for 2 turns. Then Thanos will copy all negative effects from himself and all allies and will apply them to the primary target.
After that, he will Chain to 5 adjacent enemies, dealing damage and applying Offense Down for 2 turns to them. Counterattack breaks this Chain.
This is an incredible ability, not only does it disable a single target for 2 turns, it also supports all allies and deals some decent damage to adjacent targets. Considering the cooldown of the ability, Thanos will be able to Stun the primary target again as soon as they clear their previous Stun. And none of the aspects of this ability is tied to a single mode/team, making it very plug-and-play friendly.
Ultimate – Inevitable Culling
Energy Cost: 5/7
Thanos will start by clearing all negative effects from self and then gaining Offense Up.
Then, he will attack all enemies dealing piercing damage, reducing the duration of all positive effects by 2 and applying Defense Down for 2 turns and Heal Block for 2 turns. Any positive effect that has a duration of 0 expires immediately, including Safeguard.
This attack ignores Defense Up.
This is one of the most powerful abilities in the game because it can essentially clear Safeguard from all enemies at once. On top of that, the cleanse and Offense Up gain as well as the fact that this attack ignores Defense Up, will ensure that the targets suffer serious damage.
Passive – Rain Fire
The first time Thanos (Endgame) drops below 50% Health, he will do the following:
- Clear all negative effects from self and all Annihilator allies
- Reduce the duration of all positive effects by 5
- Attack all enemies for 400% Piercing + 30% Drain
- This ability gains +1,000 Extra Focus, is Unavoidable, and cannot be blocked or counterattacked.
This is an amazing Passive ability that can do almost everything, it will support Thanos’s allies, it will heal him back to full most of the time and it will remove any and all positive effects from all enemies because characters rarely have a duration of a positive effect be higher than 5.
Once per turn, when a character with Exposed is hit, Thanos will generate 1 Ability Energy to 2 random allies or self that were not at full energy at the start of the current turn. This will essential function as an energy battery. Thanos can apply Exposed with his Special.
In Arena, Thanos will prevent enemies from gaining Immunity, meaning that they will be susceptible to any negative effects that you can apply to them. On top of that, also an Arena-only feature, Thanos and his Annihilator allies cannot gain Trauma.
Conclusion
The arrival of Thanos (Endgame) and his Annihilators team will shake up the Meta in Marvel Strike Force, as it often happens when new Arena teams are released (Secret Defenders is the most recent example). His stats and abilities are incredible and fairly open so nearly everything will be as effective in other game modes as it is in Arena (except a couple of key things, like preventing Immunity or being impervious to Trauma) On his own, Thanos will be a stellar plug-and-play in all game modes and an essential pick for modes like Dark Dimensions.
While Thanos and his team will shine the brightest in Arena, together they will still be one of the best teams everywhere else (except maybe Raids where they can’t be used together). Making these characters and this team the priority for all players, endgame, new, and returning.
