Iso-8
Because of her passive, the best class for Ms. Marvel (Hard Light) could be Skirmisher. She will be the first to take a turn in a Secret Defenders team and will apply Vulnerables that the team can exploit later. A part of her kit is also centered on flipping buffs and specifically Taunt, she gets additional focus from Ghost Rider’s (Robbie) Passive and further gets a Focus boost when Using her Ultimate to flip Taunt, so she might not need the bonus Focus that this class provides.
In that case, Fortifier might be a better choice, since she can apply Barrier with her every ability, so having even more Barrier on her is advisable, considering that she is the Protector for the team.
T4 Priority
U – Ultimate ability
P – Passive ability
S – Special ability
B – Basic ability
Ultimate – will increase Damage and apply +1 Safeguard to self and Secret Defender allies. You will often use this ability on her first Turn, so having Safeguard ready immediately is very valuable.
Passive – will slightly increase the Barrier and Armor that Secret Defenders get. Additionally, only in Arena, this will raise Max Health of Secret Defenders by 50%.
Special – will clear all Barrier from the Primary target, and apply +1 Safeguard to all Secret Defenders. You will always have a choice of whether to use her Special or Ultimate on her first turn. Depending on your enemies this might vary, so having T4’s in both her Ult and Special is necessary to get that Safeguard early on.

Theory Craft
Kamala Khan was just an average New Jersey teenager when she received a gift in the mail from her grandmother: a bangle. After wearing the bangle, Kamala’s dormant mutant gene activated, granting her superhuman powers. She’s able to manipulate extra-dimensional energy from the Noor Dimension that gives her superhuman abilities and can be used to both create physical hard light platforms and stretch her physical body. With her newfound abilities, Kamala adopted the name of “Ms. Marvel” and began her journey as a superhero.
Ms. Marvel (Hard Light) is the group’s Protector and her job on the team is absorbing enemy attacks so her allies can stay in the fight. She directs enemy fire her way with Taunt on two separate abilities and she’ll also gain Taunt when any enemy character becomes Empowered. Charged fortifies Ms. Marvel, so when she has five Charged, she gains Barrier and heals herself, readying her for the next round of attacks.
Basic – Teenage Smackdown
Ms. Marvel will attack the primary target for a moderate amount of damage, Barrier self for 5% of her Max Health, and gain +1 Charged. This attack cannot be counterattacked.
Getting Barrier on her Basic is a great thing for a Protector, and the charges will synergize well with her Passive and improve her survivability.
ISO – 8/Counter Attack/Assists
Ms. Marvel will attack the primary target for a slightly less amount of damage and a small amount of Piercing, Barrier self for 5% of her Max Health, and gain +1 Charged.
Special – Downvote
Energy Cost: 5/5
Special ability will remove all Barrier on the primary target, deal damage, steal 2 random Positive Effects (excluding Taunt), and spread the stolen effects to Secret Defenders and Captain Marvel allies. This attack cannot be counterattacked.
Then, Ms. Marvel will gain Taunt, Barrier self, and all allies for 10% of her Max Health, clear 2 Negative Effects from self and all allies, and apply Defense Up for 2 turns and 2 Regeneration to self and all allies.
In Arena, she will also apply Safeguard to self and the Secret Defender allies.
This is an incredible defensive ability, not only does she gets a Taunt but she also protects the team from any AoE damage that may come their way with her Barrier and Defense Up, the only thing that could have made it better is if she could apply Immunity as well. But alas, that’s too big an ask from a non-legendary character.
Ultimate – Hardlight Slam
Energy Cost: 7/7
When using her Ultimate, Ms. Marvel will flip Taunt to Defense Down on all enemies, then attack the primary and adjacent targets for a lot of damage and Reduce their Speed Bar by 30%.
Next, she will gain Taunt, Barrier self, and all Secret Defenders/Captain Marvel allies for 15% of her Max Health, clear 2 random Negative effects from everybody, and apply Defense Up for 2 turns and 2 Regeneration to self, Secret Defenders, and Captain Marvel allies.
Ms. Marvel gets +1,000% extra Focus for this attack and this attack cannot be counterattacked.
In Arena, this will apply Safeguard to self and Secret Defender Allies, and on Arena Defense she will, instead, attack the enemy with the highest Speed, ignoring Taunt, and adjacent targets for high damage + reduce Speed Bar by 30%.
This Ability can used on turn one, which is great when you’re facing enemy pre-Taunters, as long as they dont have Safeguard.
Passive – Superfan
On Spawn:
- Fill Speed Bar for self by 10% + 10% for each Secret Defender ally.
- Barrier self and all Secret Defender allies for 20% of this character’s Max Health.
- Apply Defense Up to self and all Secret Defender allies.
- Gain +50% Armor. Secret Defender allies gain +50% Armor.
- Gain +15% Max Barrier. Secret Defender allies gain +15% Max Barrier.
- In Arena, gain +50% Max Health.
Every time Ms. Marvel gets attacked she gains +1 Charged. When she reaches 5 or more Charges she will Barrier and heal herself for 20% of her Max Health then lose 5 Charges.
When an enemy becomes Empowered (Apocalypse, Gamora, Thanos, etc.) she will Heal and Barrier herself for 20% Max Health and then gain Taunt.
When Ms. Marvel or any other Secret Defender ally drops below 30% Max Health for the first time, she will clear Disrupted and/or Taunt from that character, then she will apply Stealth and Regeneration to them.
Conclusion
Getting through a leveled-up Ms. Marvel will pose quite a challenge since she will keep healing herself and reapplying Barrier and she will get the first turn in a fight, so you can’t stop her from Taunting. Another great thing about her is the ability to choose whether to use Ultimate or Special on turn one, in a lot of fights that will certainly come in handy. It looks like Ms. Marvel will be a great Protector for her team.
