Iso-8

Hercules is a mighty protector, and while he cannot gain Taunt on his own, he can keep stealing it from his enemies, and because of that, he will often end up stealing Taunt and taking some damage for the team. To help increase his mitigation, we can equip him with the Fortifier Class. It will allow him to gain more Barrier, clear Vulnerables from himself, and stay in the fight longer. Another good option for him is Raider due to his high damage stat and the fact that both his Ultimate and Special can hit multiple enemies.

T4 Priority

P – Passive ability

S – Special ability

U – Ultimate ability

B – Basic ability

Passive – will allow Hercules to apply Safeguard on Spawn for 2 turns. This will be applied to Uncanny Avengers in Raids or to Mighty Avengers on War Offense. Both teams have numerous useful positive effects on Spawn, and Safeguard will prevent enemies from clearing/flipping those effects.

Special – will apply Ability Block to the primary target and Offense Up to all allies for 2 turns (instead of 1)

Ultimate – will add a lot of damage to the attack and 20% Speed Bar reduction to the primary target

Theory Craft

The demigod and son of Zeus, Hercules was born with unmatched strength and a thirst for adventure, making him one of the most celebrated heroes of ancient Greece. After completing his famous Twelve Labors, he sought new challenges and eventually found his way into the modern world. He used his godly strength, endurance, and combat skills to fight alongside Earth’s mightiest heroes. Though brash and sometimes reckless, Hercules is a loyal ally and a powerful force for good, defending both mortals and gods from threats that span across time and space.

Hercules is a unique Protector as he can’t Taunt on his own, but his Passive ability allows him to steal all positive effects from his target, so he will still often end up having Taunt and protecting his team. On top of that, he can remove Charges and Revive Once and he also prevents the enemy team from gaining bonus Speed Bar. His Passive also allows his allies to steal positive effects from their targets (in Raids or on War Offense), which will greatly increase the usefulness of older/reworked Uncanny and Mighty Avenger allies.

Basic – Around The World

This straightforward ability will hit the primary target and deal damage. However, enemies cannot Dodge this attack and they cannot be revived if they get killed by this Basic.

Safety Attack (Iso – 8/Counter Attack/Assists)

The safety attack is identical to the Basic attack with a small difference of dealing slightly less damage.

Special – Olimpian Slam

Energy Cost: 5/5

This ability will hit the primary and adjacent targets, dealing a lot of damage and getting 100% Drain (health steal). It will also apply Defense Down to all targets he hits, and Ability Block as well as Disrupted to the primary target.

After, it will apply Offense Up for 2 turns to self and all allies. And will flip all negative effects into positive on self, all Mighty and Uncanny Avengers.

This ability gets +300% Extra Focus and cannot be blocked or dodged.

Ultimate – Labor Of Strength

Energy cost: 6/8

First, Hercules will gain Offense Up for 2 turns. After that, he will attack all enemies, dealing tons of piercing damage and gaining 50% Drain. This will also reduce the Speed Bar on the primary target by 20%

This attack is unavoidable.

Hercules can use this ability on his second turn, and the massive amount of damage it can deal will also result in a big heal to himself, thanks to the Drain effect. the cooldown is fairly long, but due to his potent passive ability, enemies are likely to be exposed when he gets to use this attack, which can take out multiple enemies at once.

Passive – Champion Of Olympus

In Raids, On Spawn:

  • Apply Safeguard for 2 turns to self and all Uncanny Avenger allies
  • If Hercules has 3 or more Mystic enemies, fill Speed Bar for self and all Uncanny Avengers by +20%

On Spawn, on War Offense:

  • Apply Safeguard for 2 turns to self and all Uncanny Avenger allies
  • If Hercules has 3 or more Mystic enemies, fill Speed Bar for self and all Uncanny Avengers by +20%

In Raids, if Hercules has 4 or more Uncanny Avengers allies, or on War Offense, if Hercules has 4 or more Mighty Avenger allies: Enemy characters cannot fill Speed Bar for themselves or allies (this does not apply to Speed Bar gained through normal means

Whenever Hercules takes an action, he will perform the following before attacking the target:

  • Clear all Charged, copy and clear all positive effects, excluding Stealth, and copy and clear Revive Once.
  • In Raids, if this character is alive and has 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies, an Uncanny Avenger ally performs these actions on their target before taking an action, except they do not copy Taunt.
  • On War Offense, if this character is alive and has 4 or more Mighty Avenger allies, a Mighty Avenger ally performs these actions on their target before taking an action, except they do not copy Taunt.

This part of his Passive is very potent as this essentially means that all of his Uncanny/Mighty Avenger allies can steal all positive effects from their primary target each turn (in their respective game modes). Enemies can still be protected from that by having Safeguard, but if they do not have Safeguard, they will essentially battle without positive effects, while Hercules’s team will have an abundance of buffs.

Hercules also gains +300% Focus and provides the same to his Uncanny and Mighty Avenger allies.

Conclusion

While most of his Passive is locked behind his teams and their respective game modes, Hercules can still be quite useful as a plug-and-play character for dealing with Protectors or other characters with tons of positive effects, Charges, and Revives. But we will likely have to pair him with Apocalypse or Ares so that enemies don’t spawn with Safeguard. Hercules is also fairly fast, can apply Offense Up to all allies, and can deal a lot of damage, at least once we have more stars for him.

In terms of Raids and War, when Hercules is surrounded by his allies, the team can become unstoppable. Even more so in Raids, where both Jean Grey and Hercules will have most of their bonus abilities active.
