Iso-8
Raider class can be a great one for Jean because it will enhance the damage she deals and will help her land more Vulnerables with her multitarget hits, which other allies can then exploit. Jean also has a boost to Focus on her attacks, so Skirmisher might often be unnecessary, but not entirely.
T4 Priority
P – Passive ability
S – Special ability
U – Ultimate ability
B – Basic ability
Passive – will allow Jean Grey to prevent enemies from filling or reducing the Speed Bar for themselves, allies, or enemies. (This does not apply to Speed Bar gained through normal means). Unfortunately, this works only on Crucible Offense with the full Immortal X-Men team or in Raids with the Uncanny Avengers team, but it will provide a massive advantage and is one of the most important upgrades for Jean Grey.
Special – will apply Safeguard for 2 turns to all Immortal X-Men, but only on Crucible Offense. This is the move Jean will often start the battle with, and as such, it is quite important also to have this upgrade.
Ultimate – will add a lot of damage to the attack, and since this will hit all enemies, having more damage will be very beneficial. Additionally, it will apply Ability Block for 2 turns (instead of 1)
Basic will only increase the damage output of the attack and will apply Defense Down for 2 turns (instead of 1). It is decent enough but not necessary and can be skipped.

Theory Craft
Jean Grey discovered her telepathic and telekinetic abilities at a young age after a tragic accident awakened her mutant powers, allowing her to read minds and move objects with her mind. She joined the School for Gifted Youngsters, where she honed her abilities and became one of the founding members of the X-Men. Using her powers to protect a world that feared mutants, Jean became a compassionate and powerful hero, dedicated to fighting for peace and understanding between humans and mutants.
Jean Grey is a Support powerhouse character when it comes to Raids and Cosmic Crucible Offense, she applies a bevy of positive effects to her allies but most importantly, she will heavily hinder her enemies by preventing any Speed Bar manipulations on the enemy side. On top of that, she also depletes enemy Special Ability cooldowns, so enemies on Spawn won’t have their Specials ready (if they normally do). Meaning that in some cases, the opponents will have to start the battle with Basic attacks, which will often guarantee a win. To balance it out a little, Jean can only do that if she ahs her full Immortal X-Men team present.
Basic – Psywave
This straightforward ability will hit the primary target, dealing damage and applying Defense Down and Heal Block for 2 turns.
Safety Attack (Iso – 8/Counter Attack/Assists)
The safety attack is identical to the Basic attack with a small difference of dealing slightly less damage.
Special – Telekinetic Blitz
Energy Cost: 5/5
This ability will hit all enemies for damage and then will prolong all negative effects on them by 1 turn. After that, it will apply Defense Down, Heal Block, and Disrupted for 2 turns to all enemies. This attack gains +500% Extra Focus
On Crucible Offense this will also:
- Reduce the Speed Bar of all enemies by 25%
- Apply Safeguard for 2 turns to self and all Immortal X-Men allies
- If Jean has 3 or more Immortal X-Men allies, this attack cannot be blocked or counterattacked.
In Raids, if Jean has 3 or more Uncanny Avengers, this attack cannot be blocked or counterattacked.
Ultimate – Terra Throw
Energy cost: 2/4
This attack will hit all targets dealing Piercing damage, then it will apply 2 Bleed and clear Revive Once from everyone. It will also apply Ability Block for 2 turns to the primary target.
This attack gains +1,000% extra Focus and enemies killed by this attack cannot be revied.
The fairly low cooldown and the massive amounts of damage this ability can hit with make it a pretty useful one, Jean will be able to use it on her second turn, and at that point, it might often deal the finishing blow to the enemy team. It is also not restricted to any modes/teams and the Bleeds she will apply can be quite dangerous as they will be based on her Health and she has quite a large Health stat.
Passive – Marvel Girl
On Spawn:
- Apply Defense Up to self and all X-Men and Avenger allies
- Barrier self and all X-Men or Avenger allies for 30% of Jean’s Max Health
On Spawn, on Crucible Offense:
- If Jean Grey has 4 or more Immortal X-Men allies, reduce the Starting Ability Energy of each enemy’s Special Ability by 10.
- Apply Safeguard to self and all Immortal X-Men allies.
On Crucible Offense, if Jean has 4 or more Immortal X-Men allies, or in Raids if she has 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies: Before Jean takes a turn, enemies cannot gain Taunt. Enemies also cannot fill or reduce Speed Bar for themselves, allies, or enemies (this does not apply to Speed Bar gained through normal means).
On Spawn in Raids:
- If this character has 4 or more Uncanny Avengers allies, reduce the Starting Ability Energy of each enemy’s Special Ability by 10.
- Apply Safeguard to self and all Uncanny Avengers allies.
Conclusion
There are a few positives and a few negatives surrounding Jean Grey. On the one hand, she is quite a powerful character with a Passive that is tailored to a point where you will have all of the advantages you might need to win a battle. On the other hand, that is restricted to Raids and Crucible Offense, and only if she has the full respective teams for those modes. Although to be fair, it would have been quite overpowered if she was able to do what she does in all game modes.
If we look at Jean as a plug-and-play character in other game modes, she isn’t as impressive, and her kit is fairly standard, having a limited amount of control. However, the Special ability can be a strong utility tool, as it can prolong negative effects such as Stun, Trauma, and Ability Block. Her high stats will also ensure that she can be quite useful in supporting all X-Men and Avenger allies on Spawn, so that adds a few more points in her favor.
