Iso-8

Selecting an Iso-8 Class for Shuri is trickier since she’s an overall great character and can have a few good options, but overall it would seem that Raider would fit her the best. Her Special Ability guarantees that she will Crit, so the increased Crit damage from the Raider class will amplify her damage output, and she will apply Vulnerables which are always useful.

She can also be good as a Striker, applying Slow, Defense Down, and Heal Block on her follow-up attacks, but there are better options for Strikers amongst her Illuminati teammates.

Ultimate – will apply Trauma to the primary target and, in Cosmic Crucible only, will apply Trauma to all adjacent targets.

Passive – will lower the max Barrier for all enemies by 10% (lower by 20% in Crucible). In Crucible, Shuri will also provide +100% Focus to self and all Hero allies.

Special – will apply Ability Block and Heal Block for 2 turns (instead of 1)

Basic – will only slightly increase the damage so can be skipped

Theory Craft

Shuri, the brilliant and tech-savvy younger sister of T’Challa, is a genius inventor and the head of Wakanda’s technology division. She played a crucial role in developing advanced technologies that aided her brother, the Black Panther, and the nation’s defense. But following T’Challa’s death, Shuri stepped up to become the new Black Panther, combining her technological prowess and combat skills to protect Wakanda and honor her brother’s legacy. 

Shuri is a menacing Controller that can apply Ability Block+Trauma combination to multiple targets with her Ultimate, her high Speed and Piercing damage will make her a force to be reckoned with. Her Passive allows her to reduce the Max Barrier of her enemies and she has a Charged Mechanic that will amplify the damage of her Ultimate even further.

Basic – Bright Barrage

Will hit the primary target for Piercing damage and will apply Slow, Defense Down, and Heal Block.

If Shuri has Ability Block, this attack will apply Ability Block to the primary target (only in Crucible)

Iso-8/Counterattack/Assist

Her safety attack will deal slightly less Piercing damage and will apply Slow, Defense Down, and Heal Block.

Special – Acrobatic Hunter

Energy Cost: 4/4

Shuri will hit the primary target and will apply Ability Block and Heal Block for 2 turns, then she will Reound Chain to 3 adjacent targets dealing Piercing Damage and applying Slow to them for 2 turns.

If she has 2 or more Illuminati allies, this attack gains +100% Crit Chance.

Shuri gains +500% Bonus Focus for this attack and it cannot be blocked.

This attack can Chain to Stealth targets, but counterattacks will break this Chain.

In Crucible:

• This attack will clear all Charged on the primary target
• Generate 1 Ability Energy for self and all Illuminati allies
• On Defense, this will target the enemy Controller with the most Speed Bar (ignoring Taunt and Stealth)

This ability is ready on Spawn and the functionality isn’t completely locked behind Crucible, which will make her a great candidate for some plug-and-play cases, considering she’s pretty fast and can apply Ability Block with her first move. In Crucible this ability will be even better, allowing you to clear Charged from dangerous targets and supplying your teammates with Ability Energy. The energy cost of the ability is not high, so she can end up using it more than once if the battle gets even slightly prolonged.

Ultimate – Panther’s Fury

Energy Cost: 2/5

This Ability will apply Ability Block and Trauma to the primary target (in Crucible Ability Block and Trauma will also be applied to all Adjacent targets) and will deal Piercing Damage.

For each Charged on Shuri, she will repeat this attack 1 time, up to 5 times max. and will lose all Charged.

By the time Shuri gets to use her Ultimate, she might already have at least a couple Charged on her (even more in Crucible), meaning that this attack has the potential to deal some devastating damage especially since it’s a Piercing attack.

Passive – Wakanda’s Champion

On Spawn, gain 1 Charged. On attacked, gain +1 Charged up to 5 Max.

Her Charged mechanic allows her to amplify the damage of her Ultimate attack which can result in a significant damage output.

When Shuri gains Defense Up, she will passively apply 2 Bleed to all enemies. And on Kill, she will clear 2 random positive effects from all enemies. This part of her passive can make her a great option for Dark Dimension, where the fights are long and the targets are numerous.

She gains +50% Focus and + 50% Damage, and also applies the same to her Illuminati allies. And lowers the Max Barrier of all enemies by 10%

In Crucible:

• When an Illuminati ally is attacked, gain +1 Charged (up to 5 max)
• Lower the max Barrier of all enemies by an additional 10%
• Gain an additional 100% Focus for self and all Hero allies
• While this character has Charged, lower the Assist Chance of all enemies by 100%
• While this character has Charged, Villain enemies cannot gain Speed Up

The additional effects Shuri has in Crucible make her an invaluable member of her team, increasing the Focus and Damage of the team alone is a valuable contribution, but she also essentially stops Assists until she uses her Ultimate (but even then once she gets hit once she gains Charged back)

Conclusion

Black Panther (Shuri) is a great character who will have value with her team and as a standalone, all her attacks deal piercing damage and both Special and Ultimate can apply Ability Block (under certain conditions she can even Ability Block with her Basic in Crucible).

She is also naturally fast, having the Speed set to 133 making her one of the top 5 fastest characters if we go by Speed stat alone, this means that she can often get ahead of everyone else and Ability Block a crucial target. Her Charged Mechanic will allow for some great damage output on her Ultimate, and her Passive can lower max Barrier and strip positive effects on Kill, which can be great for game modes such as Dark Dimension.

Overall, Black Panther (Shuri) is a good addition to the game, her Illuminati team will thrive in Crucible, but Shuri alone can also be good in War with War Dogs, or in other game modes as a plug-and-play.
