Iso-8
Nightcrawler has a very good damage stat and his Special and Ultimate abilities can hit multiple targets, so having him as a Striker or Raider seems like a good choice. Raider looks like the best option since he will fill the Speed Bar for X-Treme X-Men by 10% whenever he lands a Crit.
He can also apply Ability Block in Raids with his Basic Attack and can Stun with his Special in every mode, but while he is still low stars and until his X-Treme teammates are released it might be worth going with Skirmisher on him to ensure that his debuffs will land.
T4 Priority
P – Passive ability
B – Basic ability
U – Ultimate ability
S – Special ability
Passive – His Passive will grant him 2 Charged on Spawn, will apply Speed Up to him, and the Speed of Nightcrawler and each ally can only be reduced by Slow (Emma Frost’s Passive won’t)
Basic – If he has 3 or more X-Men allies, he will apply Ability Block with his Basic Attack, while this works only in Raids this is still an incredible upgrade
Ultimate – His Ultimate will increase the piercing damage of the attack and will prolong the duration of Positive effects on self and all allies by +1 (up to 3 max)
Special – Will also increase the Piercing damage, will add another rebound chain and will apply Evade to 2 most injured allies.

Theory Craft
Kurt Wagner is the child of two powerful mutants: The precognitive Destiny and the infamous, blue-skinned shapeshifter Mystique. Kurt was living with Romani and performing in a circus when his Mutant abilities activated: night vision, heightened agility and reflexes, the ability to camouflage himself in shadow, and, of course, a unique form of teleportation. He joined the X-Men under his stage name – Nightcrawler – and fought for Mutant rights and the fate of the world.
Joining MSF, Nightcrawler will be an invaluable member of his X-Treme X-Men Raid team, where he will be responsible for providing a lot of damage, sustaining his allies with Evades, and filling their Speed Bars.
Basic – Night Slash
This attack will hit the primary target for Piercing damage and flip 1 Positive Effect into Negative, then it will bonus attack 3 more times for a small amount of Piercing damage but will still flip Positive effects. In Raids, if he has 3 or more X-Men allies he will also apply Ability Block on the last bonus attack.
On Crit, he will gain 1 Regeneration, on consecutive Crits he will prolong the Regeneration by +1.
This attack gets a 100% Crit Chance against targets with Exposed.
In Raids, this ability will be invaluable because at any point in time, as long as you have 3 X-Men allies, you will be able to Ability Block an enemy. He is the first character to ever be ably to apply Ability Block with his Basic, even if it’s limited to only Raids.
Special – Shifting Strikes
Energy Cost: 3/3
This ability will attack the primary target for a moderate amount of piercing damage and will apply Stun, Bleed, and Exposed to them. Then it will rebound chain with infinite range to 3 other targets and hit them for less piercing damage and apply Bleed.
After that, he will apply Evade to 2 most injured allies, apply Defense Up for 2 turns to all allies, and gain Safeguard.
If Charged:
- Fill Speed Bar by 20% for self and all X-men allies.
- Fill Speed Bar by 20% for the non-X-Men ally with the highest Damage.
- In Raids, fill Speed Bar by an additional 20% for self and all X-Treme X-Men allies.
- Lose 1 Charged.
This attack cannot be counterattacked.
This is an incredible ability, especially for Raids and his X-Treme team. Not only does it provide a Stun, but it will also fill the Speed Bar for his X-Treme X-Men allies by 40% each time he uses it, and he can use it quite often since it has such a low cooldown. The main issue might be the Charges themselves, but his X-Treme teammates will provide him with bonus Charged so this will make Raids very easy.
Ultimate – Shadow Barrage
Energy Cost: 6/8
This will attack all enemies for a lot of piercing damage and will clear all Positive effects from them, will apply +2 Slow to them (up to 3 max) and +1 Vulnerable (up to 5 max). It will also clear all Charged from the primary target.
Then it will apply +1 Speed Up to all X-Men allies (up to 3 max), and will prolong the duration of all Positive effects (up to 3 max)
This attack gains +500% Extra Focus, is Unavoidable, and cannot be blocked or counterattacked.
This is also an incredibly useful ability that provides a lot of control by not only clearing all Positive effects and applying Slow but by also applying Vulnerable to all enemies and Speed Up to his X-Men allies. While it is on a long cooldown, his teammates, namely Sunspot, can generate Ability Energy for his allies so Nightcrawler should be able to use it more than once per fight.
Passive – Bamf!
On Spawn:
- Gain Speed up and 2 Charged
- Apply Evade to self and all X-Men allies
- In Raids, fill Speed Bar by +20% to self and all X-Treme X-Men allies.
This will allow Nightcrawler and his X-Treme team to always start out strong in any Raid battle and often Nightcrawler will be able to take the first turn even outside of Raids.
He can also:
- On Turn: Flip 2 Negative effects on self to positive
- On Crit: fill Speed Bar by 10% for self and all X-Treme X-Men allies
- On Dodge, heal this character for 10% of his Max Health
He also has a grace mechanic which will trigger when he falls below 30% for the first time, he then will:
- Clear 3 Negative effects and gain 3 Evade
- Heal and barrier self for 30% of his Max Health
- Fill his Speed Bar by +30%
Other than all of that, he can also provide passive stat increases to his allies, he gains +60% Max Health himself, provides +30% Max Health to his X-Men allies, and an additional +30% to his X-Treme X-Men allies.
He also has this Passive effect – The Speed of this character and each ally can only be reduced by Slow.
This means that Emma Frost’s passive won’t be affecting him or his allies.
Conclusion
Nightcrawler seems like a beast and not only for Raids. His kit is incredibly open to X-Men allies and to any allies period, his abilities can function great in every game mode and they only get better in Raids. he can provide a lot of damage and has a lot of self-sustain through Evades and Healing every time he Dodges. This makes him a great plug-and-play character and a strong consideration for dark dimensions.
