Uncanny Avenger
Introduction
The release of Jean Grey and Hercules at the end of 2024 resulted in a new-ish approach of releasing teams when two new characters intermixed with 8 reworked ended up forming three new teams. The approach of forming a team like this deviates from the standard one (3 new and 2 reworked characters), but it’s excellent because it makes more of the older characters regain their value. Here, we will focus on one of the teams – Uncanny X-Men, led by Jean Grey and Hercules.
This team is essentially a blend of the Immortal X-Men and Mighty Avengers, featuring three characters from Immortal X-Men and two from the Mighty Avengers.
The Uncanny Avenger team is specifically designed for the Spotlight II Raid, making it a priority for all players since this raid offers excellent rewards essential for progress. The team boasts strong mitigation and damage potential, along with exceptional sustain and battlefield control, making them outstanding for Spotlight II Raid.

Utility
- Alliance Raids
Spotlight II Raids will feature nodes that require Uncanny Avenger characters. If we don’t have this team, we won’t be able to access those nodes. It’s essential to upgrade them as soon as possible to prepare for the Spotlight II Raid. The Uncanny Avengers have excellent Raid bonuses, particularly in terms of sustain, mitigation, and damage, which help them endure long battles against numerous enemies and emerge victorious. Most importantly, all members of Uncanny Avengers also have either Immortal X-Men or Mighty Avenger tag, so their value is essentially doubled.
Team Placement & Turn Order
Hercules is a Protector who gains Taunt by stealing it from his target. Therefore, we will position him in the corner. Beast will be placed next to him because he has high Health and mitigation. We will place Jean Grey in the middle, while Storm and Falcon will be positioned on the other side of the field. While Jean is still low on stars, we can hide her in the corner and use Storm or Falcon in the center spot.
Turn Order:
- Storm – 131 Speed
- Jean Grey – 129 Speed
- Hercules – 126 Speed
- Falcon – 122 Speed
- Beast – 116 Speed
Iso-8 Classes
- Hercules – Raider/Fortifier
- Beast – Healer
- Jean Grey – Raider
- Storm – Striker/Raider
- Falcon – Raider
Hercules can serve as a Fortifier, so we will enhance his mitigation abilities. He can also act as a Raider since he has area-of-effect attacks. Therefore, we will increase his damage output and potentially apply Vulnerable effects on multiple enemies. Beast is best suited to be a Healer, which enhances his healing abilities and improves the sustain of his team.
The others (Falcon, Jean Grey, and Storm) can take on the Raider class, as they can attack multiple enemies with their abilities, maximizing their damage output. However, Storm is the only exception; she can be a Striker. With her follow-up attack, she will gain additional Charged, allowing her to deal more damage with her Ultimate later on. The main issue is that she plays first, so there may not be any Vulnerable opponents for her to target with her Striker follow-up on her first turn.
Team T4’s
Essential
- Hercules – Passive, Ultimate, and Special
- Beast – Passive, Ultimate, and Special
- Jean Grey – Passive
- Storm – Passive, Special, and Basic
- Falcon – Passive and Special
Hercules
When the Passive Ability is maxed out, we gain the “Safeguard On Spawn” (2 turns) feature for the Uncanny Avenger team in Raids. This upgrade is crucial because it prevents enemies from removing the initial buffs. When we combine this with Defense Up from Jean Grey and Immunity from Falcon, we create a powerful starting combination of buffs that cannot be removed by enemies.
Maximizing the Ultimate Ability not only significantly increases damage but also reduces the Speed Bar of the primary target by 20%. Any ability to manipulate the opponent’s Speed Bar is extremely valuable.
When the Special Ability is maxed, it adds the Ability Block effect to the primary target, which serves as an excellent form of control. Additionally, the duration of Offense Up for all allies is extended to 2 turns, increased from 1 turn.
Beast
If we max out Beast’s Passive Ability, in Raids, at the end of his first turn, he will generate 10 Ability Energy for himself and all Uncanny Avenger allies, provided he has 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies. This upgrade ensures consistency in Raids and allows the Uncanny Avenger team to use their abilities without worrying about not having them available in the next node.
When Beast’s Ultimate is maxed, he can, in Raids, apply Offense Up, Defense Up, and Speed Up to all Uncanny Avenger allies while generating 1 Ability Energy for each ally, as long as he has 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies. This upgrade grants the entire Uncanny team the buffs that Beast typically provides with his Ultimate ability, although not all buffs are applied to team members if this Ability is not maxed.
When maxed, the Special Ability deals increased damage and clears four negative effects from Beast and the entire Uncanny Avenger team, rather than just two. This is particularly useful in specific situations, and it’s happening when Jean Grey is an ally, which is generally assumed for the Uncanny Avenger team.
Jean Grey
Maximizing Jean Grey’s Passive is crucial for the Uncanny Avenger team, especially for Alliance Raids. When Jean Grey has four or more Uncanny Avenger allies, enemies cannot fill or reduce Speed Bars for themselves or other enemies (though this does not apply to Speed Bars gained through normal means). This Ability is superior to Passives like Captain Britain Passive in Crucible since it does not hinder your own team. As a result, Uncanny Avenger characters can boost their own and their allies’ Speed Bars while simultaneously lowering the opponents’ Speed Bars through their abilities, giving this team a significant advantage in Raids.
Storm
It is essential to fully upgrade Storm’s Passive, as it greatly enhances her offensive potential. At the start of each turn, she gains +3 Charged, enabling her to generate Charged energy more quickly and efficiently. This allows her to deal more damage with her Ultimate ability in subsequent turns.
When her Special Ability is maxed, Storm will apply Trauma (lasting 2 turns) to all opponents in Alliance Raids if Storm has three or more Uncanny Avenger allies—conditions that are typically met in an Uncanny Avenger composition. Given Storm’s exceptional speed, she often gets to play first and inflict Trauma on all opponents, making it a crucial factor.
Upgrading Storm’s Basic Ability to the maximum level increases her damage output and allows her to reach a cap of 20 Charged (up from 15). While she gains +2 Charged after using her Basic attack, failing to upgrade it means she cannot accumulate Charged beyond 15. This enhancement enables her to gather Charged energy all the way up to 20 with a Basic or Iso-8 attack.
Falcon
When maxed, the Passive Ability will grant Immunity to Falcon and all Uncanny Avenger allies upon spawning in Raid. This upgrade is crucial for making this team an impenetrable fortress during battles (especially at the beginning of fighting).
In Raids, if Falcon has four or more Uncanny Avenger allies, he will fill the Speed Bar of himself and all Uncanny Avenger allies by 50%, plus an additional 10% for each enemy with positive effects (increased from 30% plus 10% per enemy with positive effects). This extra 20% Speed Bar fill for the entire team can often mean the difference between victory and defeat. And will allow his team to have much better control of the battlefield. Therefore, it’s essential to max out Falcon’s Special Ability.
Recommended
- Jean Grey – Ultimate
- Storm – Ultimate
- Falcon – Ultimate
Jean Grey
Jean Gray’s Ultimate, when maxed, deals one-third more Piercing damage and applies Ability Block for two turns, compared to the previous duration of one turn on the primary target. This change significantly enhances the offensive potential of the character while also providing improved control, as a two-turn Ability Block can be crucial in many scenarios.
Storm
Maxing out her Ultimate Ability directly boosts the damage Storm can inflict. The base damage increases from 100% to 110%, and the damage per Charged jumps from 90% to 100%. This upgrade is advantageous because the more Charged Storm has when she uses her Ultimate, the higher the damage potential becomes.
Falcon
Falcon’s Ultimate Ability deals more damage and more Piercing damage with the primary attack when upgraded to level 7. Additionally, during Raid battles, he applies Bleed to all enemies. With this upgrade, Falcon can inflict substantial damage.
Red Stars and Diamonds
Getting 7 Red Stars on the new characters (Jean Grey and Hercules) shouldn’t be complicated, as long as you open Elite Red Star Orbs when they are featured there. Beast, Storm, and Falcon are older characters so plenty of players might have them at high Red Stars already.
You could also get Red Stars for them from the Incursion Campaign:
- 7 Red Stars for Beast – Incursion 6-1
- 7 Red Stars for Storm – Incursion 7-8
- 6 Red Stars for Falcon – Incursion 2-6
When the Jean Grey and Hercules becomes farmable and free-to-play players are able to collect 7 Yellow/Red Stars for them, we also recommend using Diamonds for them (2 Diamonds at least).
Regarding the three reworked characters, we also suggest a minimum of 2 Diamonds. The Storm should be your higher priority (you can even go for 3 Diamonds on her). Then Beast and Falcon.

Team Mechanics
Hercules
Hercules is the one of the two main characters of the Uncanny Avenger team and serves as their Protector. He has a unique way of taunting opponents—he steals taunt from opposing Protectors. Thanks to his passive ability, this team can effectively take down everything in front of them in Raids.
His Basic attack is straightforward. He attacks the primary target with an undodgeable strike, and any enemies killed by this attack cannot be revived.
The Special Ability costs 5 Ability Energy and can be used as early as the first turn. In this attack, Hercules strikes the primary target and adjacent enemies, inflicting 100% Drain (healing himself for the amount of damage dealt) and applying Defense Down to all targets. Additionally, he applies Ability Block and Disrupted to the primary target. Afterward, Hercules buffs his team by granting Offense Up (for 2 turns) to himself and all allies. This ability also flips all negative effects into positive ones for himself and all Uncanny Avenger allies. This attack cannot be blocked or dodged. It’s an excellent way to start a fight, allowing Hercules to control one opponent and weaken the defenses of others, while enhancing his team’s offense and flipping negative effects.
Before using his Ultimate Ability (costing 8 Ability Energy and available from the second turn) Hercules buffs himself with Offense Up (2 turns) again. He then attacks all opponents with Piercing damage, which has a 50% Drain effect. This attack also reduces the primary target’s Speed Bar by 20% and is Unavoidable. This move can be devastating, as Hercules buffs his offense before each Ultimate attack, resulting in significant damage.
The Passive Ability is what makes Hercules essential to the Uncanny Avenger team. At the start of each Raid battle (upon spawning) Hercules applies Safeguard (for 2 turns) to the entire UncannyAvenger team. If there are 3 or more Mystic enemies, he fills the Speed Bar of himself and all Uncanny Avenger allies by 20%, allowing them to act earlier. In Raids, if there are 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies, Hercules prevents enemies from filling their Speed Bar (this excludes Speed Bar gained through normal means).
The second part of his Passive is also more than interesting. Whenever Hercules takes an action, he clears all Charged effects, copies and clears all positive effects (excluding Stealth copying), and copies and clears Revive Once from the target. In Raids, if Hercules is alive and has 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies, a Uncanny Avenger ally performs these actions on their target before acting, except for copying Taunt.
This Ability allows the entire Uncanny Avenger team to remove all buffs from their target and copy them for themselves before launching an attack (unfortunately, they can only do it in Raids, but Hercules himself can do it in any game mode). Only Hercules can copy Taunt, making it effective since he is the protector of this team. The other allies will simply remove Taunt from their target without copying it. This passive ability enables the Uncanny Avenger team to leave their opponents devoid of buffs while the team becomes fully buffed. Additionally, it effectively removes all Charged effects from opponents, making it difficult for characters reliant on Charged mechanics to succeed against the Uncanny Avengers. The same applies to Revive Once, as the Uncanny Avengers can remove that benefit from opponents while transferring it to themselves.
Hercules significantly buffs the Uncanny Avenger team’s Focus, granting all team members +300%. This allows them to perform their Abilities without fear of being resisted and plays a crucial role when they copy and clear buffs from opponents.
Beast
Beast is also (like Jean Grey) a Support character, but while Jean focuses on crowd control and buffs, Beast is responsible for healing his team and significantly enhancing their sustain. He can also remove negative effects from the Uncanny Avenger team, provide buffs, flip positive effects on opponents, and prevent them from healing.
With his Basic attack, Beast targets the primary enemy and adjacent targets, flipping one positive effect to a negative effect on each target. During a Counterattack or Assist, he flips two positive effects to negative. This Basic attack is beneficial as it turns enemy advantages into disadvantages.
The Special Ability requires 3 Ability Energy and can be used on the first turn. Beast removes two negative effects from himself and all allies, healing the entire team for 20% of his Max Health. He then attacks all opponents and applies Heal Block to all of them. If Jean Gray is an ally, Beast clears an additional two negative effects from himself, and all Uncanny Avenger allies remove all Vulnerable status from himself and all Uncanny Avenger allies. In addition, his attack gains a 500% increase in Focus, ensuring that the Heal Block is effectively applied to opponents. This ability is excellent, has a short cooldown, and is crucial for the sustain of this team.
The Ultimate Ability costs 6 Ability Energy and can be used on the second turn. This is primarily a buffing ability that does not deal damage to opponents.
With the Ultimate, Beast provides the following buffs:
- Offense Up to himself and all Blaster, Brawler, and X-Men allies
- Defense Up to himself and all Protector, Controller, and X-Men allies
- Speed Up and generates 1 Ability Energy for himself and all Support and X-Men allies
- Regeneration for himself and all Mutant allies
In Raids, if this character has 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies:
- Apply Offense Up, Defense Up, Speed Up, and generate 1 Ability Energy for all Uncanny Avenger allies.
In Raids, Uncanny Avenger characters receives these buffs, enhancing their offensive and defensive potential.
Beast’s Passive Ability contributes to additional healing for the team. On each of his turns, he applies Regeneration to the most injured ally, and if that ally is an X-Men character, Beast will also heal it for 15% of his Max Health
In Raids, at the end of Beast’s first turn, if he has 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies, he generates 10 Ability Energy for himself and all Uncanny Avenger allies. This ensures consistency in Raids and allows all team members to have Abilities ready to use in each new node.
Jean Grey
Jean Grey is a Support character and a key member/leader of the Uncanny Avenger team. She provides significant buffs for her allies and debuffs for the opposing team, allowing her team members to fully unlock the potential of their Abilities.
Her Basic Ability allows her to attack the primary target while applying Defense Down (for 2 turns) and Heal Block (for 2 turns). This ability is straightforward, but effective.
When Jean uses her Special Ability (which costs 5 Ability Energy and can be activated on the first turn), she attacks all opponents and prolongs the duration of all negative effects on them by 1 turn. She also applies Defense Down, Heal Block, and Disrupted to all enemies (each for 2 turns). This attack gains +500% Extra Focus. Storm will start the fight by applying Trauma to all enemies, Jean will follow right after that, and using this move she can prolong the duration of Trauma and further incapacitate them by applying even more debuffs.
In Raids, if Jean Grey has 3 or more Uncanny Avenger allies, this attack cannot miss and cannot be blocked or counterattacked.
Her Ultimate Ability costs 4 Ability Energy and can be used on the second turn. It attacks all opponents with Piercing damage, applies 2 Bleed effects, and clears Revive Once. Additionally, it applies Ability Block (for 2 turns) to the primary target. Enemies defeated by this attack cannot be revived, and it gains +1000% Extra Focus, ensuring that debuffs are applied and Revive Once is cleared.
Jean Grey’s Passive Ability is crucial to making the Uncanny Avenger team top-tier in Alliance Raids. If she has 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies before taking her turn, enemies cannot gain Taunt and cannot fill or reduce their own or others’ Speed Bars (except through normal means). This is essential, as it prevents enemies from hiding behind a protector with Taunt and stops them from manipulating the Speed Bar in any way. Meanwhile, Uncanny Avenger characters can still manipulate their own or their opponents’ Speed Bars.
Upon spawning, Jean applies Defense Up and Barrier for 30% of her Max Health to the entire team. In Alliance Raids, she also applies Safeguard to the entire team upon spawning. If she has 4 or more Uncanny Avenger allies, she reduces the Starting Ability Energy of each enemy’s Special Ability by 10. Consequently, every Uncanny Avenger team in Raids will start the fight with Safeguard, while the opponents will be unable to use their Special abilities right from the start. It’s a brilliant opening.
Storm
Storm is a Controller capable of inflicting massive damage to all opponents, potentially wiping out the entire opposing team on the battlefield if fully Charged. She can also apply crucial debuffs and remove positive effects from her enemies. Storm has a Charged mechanic that allows her to deal significant damage and to copy and clear all Charged from all enemies.
With her Basic attack, Storm hits the primary and adjacent targets while gaining +2 Charged (up to a maximum of 20). This is one of several ways she can accumulate Charged.
Her Special attack deals damage to all opponents, applies Slow, and inflicts Stun (for 2 turns) on the primary target. Storm gains +5 Charged (up to a maximum of 20) with this move. Additionally, this attack has +500% Extra Focus, is Unavoidable, and cannot be blocked or counterattacked. Special costs 6 Ability Energy and can be used on the first turn.
In Raids, if Storm has at least 3 Uncanny Avenger allies, she can copy and clear all Charged from her enemies for herself. She then clears all positive effects from all enemies and applies Trauma (for 2 turns) to every enemy. This ability provides ultimate control over opponents, especially in the Raids. As noted, Storm can gain a minimum of 5 Charged through her Special attack.
With her Ultimate, Storm can deliver tremendous damage that increases with every Charged she has. However, using this attack causes her to lose all Charged. Storm attacks all opponents, dealing 110% damage plus an additional 100% for each Charged she has. Therefore, if she has 20 Charged, she can inflict a staggering 2110% damage to all opponents. This attack cannot be missed if Storm possesses 20 or more Charged. Ultimate costs 10 Ability Energy and can be used on the second turn.
Her Passive Ability allows Storm to gain additional Charged, as she receives +3 Charged at the start of her each turn (up to a maximum of 20). On her each turn, she also gains Speed Up (for 2 turns) and applies Speed Up to all X-Men, X-Force, and Uncanny Avenger allies. So, all Uncanny Avenger characters will receive Speed Up each time Storm takes her turn. Furthermore, on each Uncanny Avenger ally’s turn, Storm has a 50% chance to grant Assist Now to herself or a random ally, allowing the entire team to benefit variably depending on who receives the Assist Now ability.
Falcon
Falcon is a Blaster capable of dealing massive damage to opponents while also increasing the Speed Bar for himself and all allies. He provides passive immunity to Slow for the entire team before taking his turn, which is crucial for allowing the team to act before enemies can inflict significant damage.
With his Basic attack, Falcon targets the primary enemy and performs a bonus attack (two bonus attacks in War). While it’s not particularly special, it does deal damage, so we won’t dwell on this ability.
Falcon’s Special costs only 3 Ability Energy, allowing him to use it frequently. He boosts the Speed Bar for himself and all allies by 30%, plus an additional 10% for each enemy that has any positive effects. In Raids, if there are four or more Uncanny Avenger allies, Falcon boosts the Speed Bar for himself and all Uncanny Avengers by an extra 20%. This means it’s possible, especially in Raids, for the entire team to reach 100% on the Speed Bar, enabling them to act immediately. Additionally, Falcon’s Special removes Stealth from all enemies, and this attack is Unavoidable and cannot be blocked, except against opponents with Safeguard. Given that it only costs 3 Ability Energy, this move can be used frequently during battles and greatly enhances the effectiveness of the Uncanny Avenger team.
Falcon’s Ultimate allows him to inflict colossal damage on all opponents. He attacks every enemy, delivering bonus attacks on those with positive effects. For each positive effect on an enemy, he will do an extra attack. So, for example, if some enemy has 10 buffs, Falcon will do 10 bonus attacks on him. This means he can deal significantly more damage to opponents with many buffs compared to those with fewer. The bonus attacks are Piercing, meaning they ignore the opponent’s Armor. In Raids, this Ultimate also applies Bleed to all enemies. It costs 5 Ability Energy and can be used in the first turn.
In addition, Falcon’s Passive grants Immunity to himself and all Uncanny Avenger allies on Spawn, in Raids. Before taking his turn, Falcon and all Uncanny Avenger allies cannot be affected by Slow. Since he is the second slowest character on the team and acts second to last, this ensures that all other team members (except Beast) can play their first turn without being slowed down first. Falcon also passively gains a +25% Block Chance, with an additional +5% Block Chance for each Uncanny Avenger ally (making a total of 45%), as well as a +10% Block Amount.
Hercules provides +300% Focus to the team.
Beast provides +20% Resistance to himself, Jean Grey, and Storm.
Combat Tips & Tricks
The Uncanny Avengers team is essential for serious MSF players, as they are crucial for completing the Spotlight II Raid. This team brings a variety of powerful bonuses and exceptional Abilities that allow them to clear all nodes effectively.
The sequence begins with Storm, who uses her Special Ability first. She slows down all opponents, stuns a primary target, removes Charged effects from any opponents that have them, and copies those effects to herself. Additionally, she removes all positive effects from all opponents and applies Trauma. Next, Jean Grey follows up by attacking all opponents, extending the negative effects that Storm has applied (Slow, Trauma, Stun), and adding new negative effects to them.
Hercules then enhances the team’s offensive capabilities. His Special Ability grants Offense Up to the entire team and converts any existing negative effects into positive ones if the Uncanny Avengers had any before he played. He also applies Defense Down to the primary and adjacent targets and inflicts Stun and Disrupted on the primary opponent. Falcon can either fill the Speed Bar for the entire team or attack all opponents, while Beast, who acts last, buffs the entire team, attacks all opponents and applies Heal Block. In the second turn, Storm can easily clear all opponents with her Ultimate, but if it’s not urgent, she can continue to build her Charged ability while Jean and Hercules maintain high damage output.
The team has strong characteristics specifically for Raids, primarily due to Jean Grey’s ability to prevent opponents from filling or reducing the Speed Bar of themselves or their allies. Hercules offers a slightly weaker version of this bonus, allowing enemies to affect the Uncanny Avengers’ Speed Bar, but this is less critical since Jean effectively prevents any Speed Bar reductions for her team. Thus, the Uncanny Avengers can manipulate their own Speed Bar and that of their opponents, while the opponents remain unable to do so. Until Jean takes her turn, enemies cannot gain Taunt, which means there is no way for them to hide behind Taunt protectors. And until Falcon takes his turn, the Uncanny Avengers are immune to Slow. When Jean spawns, she reduces the Starting Ability Energy of each enemy’s Special Ability by 10. This prevents them from using their Specials, forcing many opponents to start with Basic attacks instead. Since their Specials are unavailable and their Ultimates aren’t ready yet, they are limited in their options.
Hercules also enables all team members to copy and clear all positive effects from attacking opponents, as well as clear Charged effects and revive once. This capability allows the team to eliminate all opponent buffs from the battlefield. Furthermore, Hercules boosts the team’s Focus, ensuring that the copying and clearance of positive effects from opponents will succeed.
Overall, it is clear that the Uncanny Avengers team will be an unbelievably strong force in the Spotlight II raids.
