Immortal X-Men

VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT

Introduction

The release of Jean Grey and Hercules at the end of 2024 resulted in a new-ish approach of releasing teams when two new characters intermixed with 8 reworked ended up forming three new teams. The approach of forming a team like this deviates from the standard one (3 new and 2 reworked characters), but it’s excellent because it makes more of the older rarely used characters regain their value. Here, we will focus on one of the teams – Immortal X-Men, led by Jean Grey.

Immortal X-Men is a team consisting of one new character and four reworked ones. Immortal X-Men is designed as a top-tier offensive Cosmic Crucible team. They will be a formidable force with exceptional potential, thanks largely to Jean Grey. The team excels in crowd control, damage mitigation, and has an impressive damage output.

Utility

  • Cosmic Crucible (Offense)

They receive significant bonuses when used on Offense in Crucible, making them one of the strongest teams in that setting. The Illuminati, led by Captain Britain, prevented anyone on the battlefield from filling or reducing the Speed Bar for themselves, their allies, or their opponents. The Immortal X-Men, thanks to Jean Grey, disable this ability only for their opponents, while still being able to increase their own Speed Bar or decrease that of their opponents with their abilities. This gives them a strategic advantage and solidifies their position as a top-tier Crucible team. Additionally, they possess many other strengths that we will discuss on this page.

Team Placement & Turn Order

Character placement is flexible as the team lacks classic protectors and relies more on sustain/control and heavy damage output. We can position Jean Gray in the center since she has the most hit points. Beast and Cable can be placed to her left, with Polaris and Storm to her right. While Jean is still low on stars, we can hide her in the corner and use Cable or Polaris in the center spot.

Turn Order:

  1. Storm – 131 Speed
  2. Jean Grey – 129 Speed
  3. Beast – 116 Speed
  4. Polaris – 106 Speed
  5. Cable – 96 Speed

Iso-8 Classes

  • BeastHealer
  • CableRaider
  • Jean Grey Raider
  • PolarisRaider
  • StormStriker/Raider

Beast is best suited to be a Healer, which enhances his healing abilities and improves the sustain of his team. The others (Cable, Jean Grey, Polaris, and Storm) can take on the Raider class, as they can attack multiple enemies with their abilities, maximizing their damage output. However, Storm is the only exception; she can be a Striker. With her follow-up attack, she will gain additional Charged, allowing her to deal more damage with her Ultimate later on. The main issue is that she plays first, so there may not be any Vulnerable opponents for her to target with her Striker follow-up. So it’s still (for this team) best to give her a Raider Iso-8 class.

Team T4’s

Essential

  • Beast – Special
  • Cable – Passive
  • Jean Grey – Passive and Special
  • Polaris – Passive
  • Storm – Passive, Special, and Basic

Beast

When maxed, the Special Ability deals increased damage and clears four negative effects from Beast and the entire Immortal X-Men team, rather than just two. This is particularly useful in specific situations, and it’s happening when Jean Grey is an ally, which is generally assumed for the Immortal X-Men team.

Beast’s Passive and Ultimate are also incredibly useful, but only for Raids when using him with the sister team – Uncanny Avengers. We won’t go fully into details on those abilities here, but if you know that your Alliance will switch to the new Spotlight Raid upon release, you will be required to use Uncanny, so it can be good to prepare beforehand and upgrade those abilities as well.

Cable

Maxed Passive allows Cable to consistently apply Counter to a random Mutant ally or himself, increasing the previous 20% chance to 100%. Since all Immortal X-Men characters are Mutants, Cable will always apply Counter to one of them on his turn, which is a valuable benefit for the team. Additionally, when he gains Charged, Cable will Barrier himself for 20% of his Max Health, up from the previous 10%. This enhancement provides stronger damage mitigation with a fully upgraded Passive.

Jean Grey

Maximizing Jean Grey’s Passive is crucial for the Immortal X-Men team, especially for Cosmic Crucible. When Jean Grey has four or more Immortal X-Men allies, enemies cannot fill or reduce Speed Bars for themselves or other enemies (though this does not apply to Speed Bars gained through normal means). This ability is superior to Captain Britain’s Passive since it does not hinder your own team. As a result, Immortal X-Men characters can boost their own and their allies’ Speed Bars while simultaneously lowering the opponents’ Speed Bars through their abilities, giving this team a significant advantage in Crucible.

Additionally, when the Special Ability is maxed (only for Crucible Offense) it applies Safeguard (for two turns) to Jean Grey and all Immortal X-Men allies. This effect is essential, as Safeguard is one of the most powerful buffs available. In most cases, opponents will be unable to remove your buffs, further reinforcing your team’s dominance.

Polaris

Polaris’s Passive Ability (when fully maxed) significantly diminishes the offensive potential of opponents. It reduces the Critical Hit Chance of all enemies by 25% for each Immortal X-Men ally on the team, up to a maximum of 100%. Therefore, in a full Immortal X-Men team, Polaris can completely eliminate the opponents’ Critical Hit capability.

Storm

It is essential to fully upgrade Storm’s Passive, as it greatly enhances her offensive potential. At the start of each turn, she gains +3 Charged, enabling her to generate Charged energy more quickly and efficiently. This allows her to deal more damage with her Ultimate ability in subsequent turns.

When her Special Ability is maxed, Storm will apply Trauma (lasting 2 turns) to all opponents during Crucible Offense if Jean Gray is on her team and if Storm has three or more Immortal X-Men allies—conditions that are typically met in an Immortal X-Men composition. Given Storm’s exceptional speed, she often gets to play first and inflict Trauma on all opponents, making it a crucial factor.

Upgrading Storm’s Basic Ability to the maximum level increases her damage output and allows her to reach a cap of 20 Charged (up from 15). While she gains +2 Charged after using her Basic attack, failing to upgrade it means she cannot accumulate Charged beyond 15. This enhancement enables her to gather Charged energy all the way up to 20 with Basic or Iso-8 attack.

Recommended

  • Cable – Ultimate and Special
  • Jean Grey – Ultimate
  • Polaris – Special, Ultimate, and Basic
  • Storm – Ultimate

Cable

The maxed Ultimate ability flips two positive effects into negative ones on the primary target and converts two negative effects into positive ones for Cable (this also relies on Jean Grey being an ally). Additionally, Cable will get a decent damage increase, and while he will only hit a single target with his Ult, it can do a lot of damage so it’s a good ability to have maxed.

Upgrading Cable’s Special to level 7 increases damage dealt to both primary and secondary targets. Furthermore, if he is Charged, he can clear all positive effects from the primary target, up from the previous limit of three positive effects. While this can be advantageous in certain situations, it’s worth noting that Cable won’t have Charged on his first turn when he can use his Special, making this upgrade less critical.

Jean Grey

Jean Gray’s Ultimate, when maxed, deals one-third more Piercing damage and applies Ability Block for two turns, compared to the previous duration of one turn on the primary target. This change significantly enhances the offensive potential of the character while also providing improved control, as a two-turn Ability Block can be crucial in many scenarios.

Polaris

Polaris’s Special ability deals increased damage to both primary and secondary targets, and it inflicts higher Piercing damage on a primary or secondary target that is affected by Bleed. Additionally, it now guarantees a critical hit on the primary target, increasing from a 50% chance. Overall, these enhancements significantly boost the damage that Polaris can inflict with her Special.

Similarly, a maxed Ultimate ability not only deals more damage but also converts all Regenerations into Bleed effects for all targets (increased from 2). This upgrade can be advantageous in certain situations.

Lastly, a maxed Basic ability also delivers more damage. However, it is crucial to use it to provide a Barrier to the most injured non-summoned ally, for 10% of Polaris’s Max Health (up from 5%). This upgrade results in slightly improved damage mitigation each time Polaris uses her Basic ability.

Storm

Maxing out her Ultimate Ability directly boosts the damage Storm can inflict. The base damage increases from 100% to 110%, and the damage per Charged jumps from 90% to 100%. This upgrade is advantageous because the more Charged Storm has when she uses her Ultimate, the higher the damage potential becomes.

Red Stars and Diamonds

Getting 7 Red Stars on the new character (Jean Grey) shouldn’t be complicated, as long as you open Elite Red Star Orbs when she is featured there. Beast, Cable, Polaris, and Storm are older characters so plenty of players might have them at high Red Stars already.

You could also get Red Stars for them from the Incursion Campaign:

  • 7 Red Stars for Beast – Incursion 6-1
  • 6 Red Stars for Cable – Incursion 7-4
  • 6 Red Stars for Polaris – Incursion 5-8
  • 7 Red Stars for Storm – Incursion 7-8

When the Jean Grey become farmable and free-to-play players are able to collect 7 Yellow/Red Stars for her, we also recommend using Diamonds for her (2 Diamonds at least).

Regarding the four reworked characters, we also suggest a minimum of 2 Diamonds. The Storm should be your higher priority (you can even go for 3 Diamonds on her). Then Beast, and finally Cable and Polaris.

Team Mechanics

As mentioned earlier, the Immortal X-Men are a team primarily designed for Crucible Offense, where they are virtually unbeatable. They possess significant control, able to reduce the Speed Bar of their opponents while preventing those opponents from doing the same. Additionally, opponents cannot fill their Speed Bar, except through standard means, or reduce Immortal X-Men members Speed Bar, which enhances this team’s exceptional damage potential and superior control, allowing them to secure victories over nearly everyone. Another key aspect of this team is that they reduce the enemy’s Special Ability Cooldown by 10 on Spawn (in Crucible), which can often mean certain defeat for their enemies.

Beast

Beast is also a Support character, but while Jean focuses on crowd control and buffs, Beast is responsible for healing his team and significantly enhancing their sustain. He can also remove negative effects from the Immortal X-Men team, provide buffs, flip positive effects on opponents, and prevent them from healing.

With his Basic attack, Beast targets the primary enemy and adjacent targets, flipping one positive effect to a negative effect on each target. During a Counterattack or Assist, he flips two positive effects to negative. This Basic attack is beneficial as it turns enemy advantages into disadvantages.

The Special Ability requires 3 Ability Energy and can be used on the first turn. Beast removes two negative effects from himself and all allies, healing the entire team for 20% of his Max Health. He then attacks all opponents and applies Heal Block to all of them. If Jean Gray is an ally, Beast clears an additional two negative effects from himself, and all Immortal X-Men allies remove all Vulnerable status from himself and all X-Men allies (since all Immortal X-Men characters are also considered X-Men, this removes all Vulnerable effects from the entire team). In addition, his attack gains a 500% increase in Focus, ensuring that the Heal Block is effectively applied to opponents. This ability is excellent, has a short cooldown, and is crucial for the sustain of this team.

The Ultimate Ability costs 6 Ability Energy and can be used on the second turn. This is primarily a buffing ability that does not deal damage to opponents.

With the Ultimate, Beast provides the following buffs:

  • Offense Up to himself and all Blaster, Brawler, and X-Men allies
  • Defense Up to himself and all Protector, Controller, and X-Men allies
  • Speed Up and generates 1 Ability Energy for himself and all Support and X-Men allies
  • Regeneration for himself and all Mutant allies

Since the Immortal X-Men characters are also X-Men, the entire team receives these buffs, enhancing their offensive and defensive potential.

Beast’s Passive Ability contributes to additional healing for the team. On each of his turns, he applies regeneration to the most injured ally, healing them for 15% of his Max Health if that ally is an X-Men character.

Important to note that Beast also has aspects of his kit locked behind Raid and the Uncanny Avengers team, mainly his Ultimate and Passive, which will provide a lot more benefits to his Uncanny allies in Raids. For more on that, consult with the Uncanny Avengers team page.

Beast provides +20% Resistance to the team.

Cable

Cable is a Blaster capable of manipulating opponents’ Speed Bars and dealing significant damage. He can also increase his and Jean Grey Speed Bar by a significant amount if he kills someone with his Ultimate. Cable provides a Speed Bar boost upon spawning for the entire team and has a Charged mechanic.

With his Basic attack, Cable strikes the primary target. If he is not Charged, this attack fills his Speed Bar by 80%, allowing him to act shortly thereafter. After attacking, Cable gains Charged, meaning he becomes Charged through his Basic attack.

With his Special, Cable attacks and reduces Speed Bar by 50% of the primary target. He then attacks adjacent targets and reduces their Speed Bars by 10%. It cost costs 5 Ability Energy and can be used on the first turn.

If Cable is Charged:

  • He clears all positive effects from the primary target.
  • He attacks targets 2 spaces away from the primary target for 190% damage and reduces their Speed Bars by 10%.
  • He clears 2 positive effects from all secondary targets.
  • He loses his Charged status.

This ability allows Cable to manipulate the Speed Bars of all opponents, especially because Polaris from the Immortal X-Men team can gather all opponents together. So, even when not Charged, Cable can reduce the Speed Bar for all opponents. When Charged, he can remove 2 positive effects from all targets and all positive effects from the primary target.

With his Ultimate attack, Cable strikes the primary target with an unavoidable and unblockable attack that deals massive damage. If he eliminates the target, he fills his Speed Bar and that of his ally, Jean Grey, by 70%. If Jean Grey is present as an ally, Cable flips 2 positive effects to negative on the target and flips 2 negative effects to positive on himself. In ideal circumstances, this move allows Cable to enhance his and Jean Grey’s Speed Bars while removing negative effects from himself. Ultimate cost 6 Ability Energy, and can be used on his second turn.

His Passive provide a boost to the entire Immortal X-Men team, as Cable fills their Speed Bar by 5% upon spawning. Whenever he gains Charged, he barriers himself for 20% of his max health. Additionally, at the start of his turn, Cable applies Counter to a random Mutant ally or to himself. He also has a 20% chance to apply an additional Counter to a random ally or himself if they do not already have one. On each turn, he barriers himself for an additional 10% of his max health.

In War Offense mode, Cable starts the match with Charged and fills his Speed Bar by an extra 5%. This makes his War Offense Special more effective on the first turn and allows him to act faster in that game mode.

Jean Grey

Jean Grey is a Support character and a key member/leader of the Immortal X-Men team. She provides significant buffs for her allies and debuffs for the opposing team, allowing her team members to fully unlock the potential of their abilities.

Her Basic Ability allows her to attack the primary target while applying Defense Down (for 2 turns) and Heal Block (for 2 turns). This ability is straightforward, but effective.

When Jean uses her Special Ability (which costs 5 Ability Energy and can be activated on the first turn), she attacks all opponents and prolongs the duration of all negative effects on them by 1 turn. She also applies Defense Down, Heal Block, and Disrupted to all enemies (each for 2 turns). This attack gains +500% Extra Focus. Storm will start the fight by applying Trauma to all enemies, Jean will follow right after that, and using this move she can prolong the duration of Trauma and further incapacitate them by applying even more debuffs.

On Crucible Offense, this attack also reduces the Speed Bar of all enemies by 25% and grants Safeguard (for 2 turns) to the entire Immortal X-Men team. If Jean has 3 or more Immortal X-Men allies, this attack cannot miss, be blocked, or counterattacked. More importantly, in Crucible Offense, it manipulates the Speed Bar of all opponents, preventing them from taking action while simultaneously buffing our team with Safeguard.

Her Ultimate Ability costs 4 Ability Energy and can be used on the second turn. It attacks all opponents with Piercing damage, applies 2 Bleed effects, and clears Revive Once. Additionally, it applies Ability Block (for 2 turns) to the primary target. Enemies defeated by this attack cannot be revived, and it gains +1000% Extra Focus, ensuring that debuffs are applied and Revive Once is cleared.

Jean Grey’s Passive Ability is crucial to making the Immortal X-Men team top-tier in Crucible Offense. If she has 4 or more Immortal X-Men allies before taking her turn, enemies cannot gain Taunt and cannot fill or reduce their own or others’ Speed Bars (except through normal means). This is essential, as it prevents enemies from hiding behind a protector with Taunt and stops them from manipulating the Speed Bar in any way. Meanwhile, Immortal X-Men characters can still manipulate their own or their opponents’ Speed Bars.

Upon spawning, Jean applies Defense Up and Barrier for 30% of her Max Health to the entire team. In Crucible Offense, she also applies Safeguard to the entire team upon spawning. If she has 4 or more Immortal X-Men allies, she reduces the Starting Ability Energy of each enemy’s Special Ability by 10. Consequently, every Immortal X-Men team in Crucible will start the fight with Safeguard, while the opponents will be unable to use their Special abilities right from the start. It’s a brilliant opening.

Polaris

Polaris is a valuable controller with several features that significantly enhance the Immortal X-Men team. Let’s explore what she brings to the table.

Polaris attacks the primary target and adjacent enemies with her Basic, applying Bleed to all of them. Additionally, she provides a Barrier to the most injured non-summoned ally, granting them 10% of her Max Health. This simultaneously strengthens the mitigation for that ally.

Special Ability costs 4 Ability Energy and can be used on her first turn. Polaris first creates a Barrier for herself, absorbing 20% of her Max Health, and then attacks the primary and adjacent targets. If any target has Bleed, she deals increased Piercing damage against them. This attack always results in a Critical Hit on the primary target and cannot be blocked, making it a powerful option for dealing substantial damage to opponents.

Polaris’s Ultimate (7 Ability Energy cost, can be used on her first turn) makes her an invaluable asset to the team. She pulls all enemies within 2 spaces toward the primary target, gathering them together. After that, she attacks the primary target and all adjacent targets within 2 spaces, applying Disrupted for 2 turns and converting all Regeneration effects on enemies into Bleed. This attack is unavoidable and cannot be countered. If Polaris has Jean Grey as an ally, she gains an incredible +100,000% Extra Focus, ensuring that all Regenerations are flipped to Bleed. By clustering all enemies together, Polaris’s Ultimate allows other Immortal X-Men members to target all enemies with their area-of-effect attacks. For instance, Cable can subsequently reduce the Speed Bar of all opponents with his Special.

Polaris’s Passive features several notable effects. Whenever Polaris or any ally scores a Critical Hit, she removes all Deflect from the most injured non-summoned enemy that possesses Deflect. When an enemy attacks her or any ally with a Barrier, that enemy receives Bleed. Furthermore, on offense, before Polaris takes her turn, she and all allies are immune to Defense Down, preventing enemies from applying that debuff to the Immortal X-Men team until she has played.

In Crucible Offense, Polaris reduces the Critical Hit Chance of all enemies by 25% for each Immortal X-Men ally, with a maximum reduction of 100%. As a result, only opponents with a Critical Hit Chance greater than 100% will have the potential to land a Critical Hit against the Immortal X-Men team.

In War Offense, Polaris gains an additional +10% Max Barrier, slightly enhancing her mitigation in that game mode.

Storm

Storm is a Controller capable of inflicting massive damage to all opponents, potentially wiping out the entire opposing team on the battlefield if fully Charged. She can also apply crucial debuffs and remove positive effects from her enemies. Storm has a Charged mechanic that allows her to deal significant damage and to copy and clear all Charged from all enemies.

With her Basic attack, Storm hits the primary and adjacent targets while gaining +2 Charged (up to a maximum of 20). This is one of several ways she can accumulate Charged.

Her Special attack deals damage to all opponents, applies Slow, and inflicts Stun (for 2 turns) on the primary target. Storm gains +5 Charged (up to a maximum of 20) with this move. Additionally, this attack has +500% Extra Focus, is Unavoidable, and cannot be blocked or counterattacked. Special costs 6 Ability Energy and can be used on the first turn.

In Crucible on Offense, if Storm has a Jean Gray ally and at least 3 Immortal X-Men allies, she can copy and clear all Charged from her enemies for herself. She then clears all positive effects from all enemies and applies Trauma (for 2 turns) to every enemy. This ability provides ultimate control over opponents, especially in the Cosmic Crucible. As noted, Storm can gain a minimum of 5 Charged through her Special attack.

With her Ultimate, Storm can deliver tremendous damage that increases with every Charged she has. However, using this attack causes her to lose all Charged. Storm attacks all opponents, dealing 110% damage plus an additional 100% for each Charged she has. Therefore, if she has 20 Charged, she can inflict a staggering 2110% damage to all opponents. This attack cannot be missed if Storm possesses 20 or more Charged. Ultimate costs 10 Ability Energy and can be used on the second turn.

Her Passive Ability allows Storm to gain additional Charged, as she receives +3 Charged at the start of her each turn (up to a maximum of 20). On her each turn, she also gains Speed Up (for 2 turns) and applies Speed Up to all X-Men, X-Force, and Uncanny Avenger allies. Since all Immortal X-Men members belong to the X-Men character category, they will receive Speed Up each time Storm takes her turn. Furthermore, on each ally’s turn, Storm has a 50% chance to grant Assist Now to herself or a random ally, allowing the entire team to benefit variably depending on who receives the Assist Now ability.

Rachel Summers as the sixth Immortal X-Men

You can find all the information about Rachel Summers on the Hellfire Club team page HERE.

Rachel Summers is an outstanding addition to the Immortal X-Men team, providing a significant boost—especially when used on Crucible Offense. On Spawn, she grants Immunity to herself and the entire team, protecting them from negative effects that enemies might apply at the very start of the battle. It’s worth noting that if you choose to use Rachel instead of Cable, she will provide the same 5% Speed Bar bonus that Cable normally gives, so the team won’t lose this benefit by swapping him out. However, in our opinion, the best option is to replace Beast with Rachel Summers.

Rachel has the ability to flip positive effects into negative ones and then spread them from the primary target to adjacent enemies. Most importantly, she can spread Stun, which greatly improves the team’s control capabilities. For example, Storm can Stun an enemy at the start of the battle, and Rachel can then spread that Stun to adjacent foes. She does this with her Ultimate, and with her Special, she can also spread Stun, this time from the primary target to the most injured enemy. Rachel can also buff her team with Immunity on her first turn, extending the duration of this valuable buff since she already provided Immunity to the whole team on Spawn.

Whenever an enemy gains Slow, Rachel reduces their Speed Bar by 15% and applies Trauma to them, which is a highly effective form of control. She can also passively attack enemies on their turn if they have Speed Up or Stun, and also flip three positive effects into negatives on that character.

Protector enemies cannot spawn with Immunity and Safeguard, while Support enemies cannot spawn with Immunity and cannot gain Speed Bar on Spawn, all thanks to Rachel Summers.

On top of all this, she further strengthens Immortal X-Men by preventing enemies from assisting, blocking their passive Resistance boosts, and providing the entire team with 25% Drain so they can heal when dealing damage.

Rachel is faster than Beast, Polaris, and Cable, but not as fast as Storm or Jean Grey, so she will play third on the Immortal X-Men team with a Speed of 124.

Rachel Summers isn’t just a substitute on the Immortal X-Men—she’s a crucial member who should always have a spot on the team. As mentioned earlier, Beast is the most obvious choice to be replaced by Rachel.

Combat Tips & Tricks

The Immortal X-Men are a formidable team designed to dominate opponents in Crucible on Offense. Their abilities are fairly powerful and can provide a massive strategic advantage, largely thanks to Jean Grey, who can effectively neutralize the opponent’s manipulation of the Speed Bar and prevent them from using their Special abilities early on.

The strategy begins with Storm, who should always start with her Special ability. This move slows down all opponents and stuns one of them. Next, Jean Grey takes her turn, and like Storm, she should also use her Special. This action extends all the negative effects that Storm applied. Consequently, the opponent who is stunned by Storm will remain stunned for three turns, while in Crucible Offense, Trauma will affect all opponents for two turns, preventing them from dealing with debuffs for an extended period. Additionally, this maneuver reduces the Speed Bar of all opponents by 25% while providing our team with a Safeguard buff.

After Jean, Beast plays next, making things even tougher for the opponents with his Special by applying Heal Block. Significantly, Beast can remove many negative effects from the Immortal X-Men team that the opponents may have inflicted before his turn. He also removes all Vulnerable effects. Following Beast, Polaris uses her Ultimate ability to gather all the opponents in one place. This is crucial, as it sets up the subsequent moves for the team. After Polaris, Cable can further decrease the Speed Bar of all opponents.

This sequence of actions means the opponents will struggle to act quickly enough to change the fight’s outcome since Storm will be the next to play, likely with at least 11 Charged (and possibly more if she has assisted anyone or stolen Charged from the opponents with her Special). In the worst-case scenario, if she has 11 Charged, Storm will deal an astonishing 1210% damage to all opponents, who will most likely have Defense Down at that moment. This is sheer destruction.

After Storm uses her Ultimate, you’ll need to handle whatever remains of the opposing team, if there is anyone left. Polaris’s Ultimate plays a crucial role as well; when it’s her turn again, she can use her Special to capture all the opponents. Jean will also attack all opponents before her, leaving them with little chance to escape or regroup.

During this period, our opponents will be unable to land Critical Hits. They also cannot apply Defense Down to any members of our team until Polaris takes her first turn. Additionally, until Jean Gray has her first turn, opponents will be unable to have Taunt, meaning they can’t hide behind protectors with Taunt.

Overall, we have established a new Crucible Offense META team that is set to dominate this game mode for a long time.
