Mighty Avenger

Introduction

The release of Jean Grey and Hercules at the end of 2024 introduced a new approach to team formations in the game. This approach involves two new characters combined with eight reworked characters to create three new teams. This is a deviation from the standard team compositions (3 new and 2 reworked characters), but it’s excellent because it makes more of the older characters regain their value. On this page, we will focus on one of those teams – Mighty Avenger, led by Hercules.

Mighty Avenger team is designed to be a top-tier War Offense team, boasting exceptional potential largely due to Hercules. They excel at stealing buffs and charges from enemies, mitigating damage, and delivering high damage output. Additionally, the team can manipulate the Speed Bar of enemies while preventing opponents from filling their own Speed Bar.

Utility

  • Alliance War (Offense)

In War Offense, the Mighty Avenger squad will be among the best teams due to the numerous bonuses available in this game mode. This is primarily because of Hercules, who passively prevents opponents from filling their Speed Bar. While Hercules’s passive ability isn’t as powerful as Jean Grey’s—since it does not stop opponents from manipulating the Immortal X-Men team’s Speed Bar—it does allow each member of this team to remove all Charges and copy and clear all positive effects from the target before attacking. As a result, this team can steal numerous buffs from opponents and effectively counter certain teams that rely on the Charged mechanic.

Team Placement & Turn Order

Hercules is a Protector who gains Taunt in an unusual way – by stealing it from his target. Therefore, we will position him in the corner. Invisible Woman will be placed next to him because, after Hercules, she has the highest Health on the team and provides an excellent Barrier. Her mitigation is exceptional, allowing her to withstand the splash damage she may receive. We will place Scarlet Witch in the middle, while Vision and Falcon will be positioned on the other side of the field.

Turn Order:

  1. Hercules – 126 Speed
  2. Vision – 125 Speed
  3. Invisible Women – 124 Speed
  4. Scarlet Witch – 123 Speed
  5. Falcon – 122 Speed

Iso-8 Classes

  • Hercules – Raider/Fortifier
  • Invisible Woman – Healer
  • Scarlet Witch – Striker
  • Vision – Raider/Striker
  • Falcon – Raider

Hercules can serve as a Fortifier, so we will enhance his mitigation abilities. He can also act as a Raider since he attacks first and has area-of-effect attacks. Therefore, we will increase his damage output and potentially apply Vulnerable effects on multiple enemies.

Invisible Woman is an excellent Healer, and with that ISO-8 class, she can also improve the team’s sustainability. Scarlet Witch can be classified as a Striker due to her solid ISO-8 attack, and so can Vision; however, both characters can function effectively as Raiders, especially Vision. Falcon is a classic Raider who can attack all opponents and deal significant damage.

Essential

  • Hercules – Passive, Ultimate, and Special
  • Invisible Woman – Passive, Ultimate, and Special
  • Scarlet Witch – Passive, Ultimate, Special
  • Vision – Passive and Ultimate
  • Falcon – Passive and Special

Hercules

When the Passive Ability is maxed out, we gain the “Safeguard On Spawn” (2 turns) feature for the Mighty Avenger team on War Offense. This upgrade is crucial because it prevents enemies from removing the initial buffs. When we combine this with Defense Up from Invisible Woman, Immunity from Falcon, and 3 Deflects from Vision, we create a powerful starting combination of buffs that cannot be removed by enemies.

Maximizing the Ultimate Ability not only significantly increases damage but also reduces the Speed Bar of the primary target by 20%. Any ability to manipulate the opponent’s Speed Bar is extremely valuable.

When the Special Ability is maxed, it adds the Ability Block effect to the primary target, which serves as an excellent form of control. Additionally, the duration of Offense Up for all allies is extended to 2 turns, increased from 1 turn.

Invisible Woman

A fully maxed Passive in War Offense enhances the survivability of the Mighty Avenger team. Specifically, when any Mighty Avenger character drops below 30% health for the first time, Invisible Woman will clear all negative effects from that character, apply Defense Up and Stealth, and grant them a Barrier equal to 30% of her Max Health.

Maxing out the Ultimate Ability adds damage, transforming it from a buffered Ability into one with actual damage. Invisible Woman will target the enemy with the highest Speed Bar and deal Piercing damage. In War Offense, she will execute this Piercing attack again and apply Stun. With this upgrade, we gain not only increased damage (double in War Offense) but also the ultimate form of control through Stun.

Finally, a maxed Special Ability clears all negative effects from Invisible Woman and all Mighty Avenger allies (increased from clearing 2 negative effects from the 3 most injured allies). It also clears 2 negative effects from all other allies while applying Stealth to every ally.

Scarlet Witch

The Passive Ability, at maximum level, generates 1 Ability Energy for a Vision ally, allowing him to start combat with his Ultimate when facing 3 or more Mystic enemies. This upgrade is particularly useful since Vision plays relatively fast and can rewind all opponents with his Ultimate. While this situation will not always occur, any time we encounter at least 3 Mystic opponents in War, we will benefit from this enhancement.

The Ultimate Ability allows Scarlet Witch, in War Offense, to reduce the duration of Defense Up on all opponents by 2 if she has 3 or more Mighty Avenger allies. This means that even if the opposing team has Safeguard, any opponent with 2 or fewer Defense Up will lose that buff. Additionally, Scarlet Witch will deal a little more damage, which is a notable benefit.

The Special Ability will now duplicate the healing that Scarlet Witch does for herself and Vision, increasing it to 100% of her Max Health (up from 50%). It will also apply Defense Up to all allies, increasing the chance of application from 50% to 100%. This is an excellent upgrade for improving mitigation and sustainability.

Vision

Vision’s Passive Ability will apply 3 Deflect buffs to himself and all Mighty Avenger allies upon spawning on War Offense. This team also benefits from several critical On Spawn buffs, most importantly Safeguard, which ensures that none of the buffs can be removed. These Deflects will enhance the team’s mitigation further.

Upgrading Vision’s Ultimate allows him to reduce the Speed Bar of all enemies by 30% during War Offense, but only if he has a Scarlet Witch ally and at least 3 other Mighty Avenger allies. This upgrade is essential as it provides an additional method to slow down opponents’ Speed Bars.

Falcon

When maxed, the Passive Ability will grant Immunity to Falcon and all Mighty Avenger allies upon spawning in War Offense. This upgrade is crucial for making this team an impenetrable fortress during battles (especially at the beginning of battles).

In War Offense, if Falcon has four or more Mighty Avenger allies, he will fill the Speed Bar of himself and all Mighty Avenger allies by 50%, plus an additional 10% for each enemy with positive effects (increased from 30% plus 10% per enemy with positive effects). This extra 20% Speed Bar fill for the entire team can often mean the difference between victory and defeat. Therefore, it’s essential to max out Falcon’s Special Ability.

Recommended

  • Invisible Woman – Basic
  • Scarlet Witch – Basic
  • Vision – Basic
  • Falcon – Ultimate

Invisible Woman

Upgrading the Basic Ability increases the Barrier that the Invisible Woman receives from it. The Barrier now provides 10% of her Max Health, increased from the previous 5%. Although this is a minor upgrade, it could be beneficial in specific situations.

Scarlet Witch

When Scarlet Witch’s Basic is maxed out, it deals more damage. However, a key advantage is that if she does not have full Energy (meaning not all her Abilities are ready for use), her Basic will apply Offense Down, Defense Down, and Slow to the opponent for 2 turns, instead of applying 1-2 random negative effects for 2 turns. This upgrade is significant as it can reduce the opponents’ offensive and defensive capabilities, as well as their Speed.

Vision

Maxing out the Basic allows the attack to chain to 2 adjacent targets, increased from just 1, and it also deals greater damage. This means that Vision can apply Offense Down to up to three opponents with his Basic attack.

Falcon

Falcon’s Ultimate Ability deals more damage and more Piercing damage with the primary attack when upgraded to level 7. Additionally, during War Offense, he applies Bleed to all enemies. With this upgrade, Falcon can inflict substantial damage.

Red Stars and Diamonds

Getting 7 Red Stars on the new character (Hercules) shouldn’t be complicated, as long as you open Elite Red Star Orbs when he is featured there. Invisible Woman, Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Polaris are older characters so plenty of players might have them at high Red Stars already.

You could also get Red Stars for them from the Incursion Campaign:

  • 6 Red Stars for Invisible Woman – Incursion 7-7
  • 7 Red Stars for Scarlet Witch – Incursion 8-3
  • 7 Red Stars for Vision – Incursion 3-6
  • 6 Red Stars for Falcon – Incursion 2-6

When the Hercules become farmable and free-to-play players are able to collect 7 Yellow/Red Stars for him, we also recommend using Diamonds for him (2 Diamonds at least).

Regarding the four reworked characters, we also suggest a minimum of 2 Diamonds. The Falcon and Invisible Woman should be your higher priority (you can even go for 3 Diamonds on those two). Then Scarlet Witch and Vision.

On Spawn Buffs and Crucial Passive Effects In Battle

Team On Spawn Buffs:
In all game modes – Defense Up (2 turns)
In Alliance War Offense – Safeguard (2 turns), fill Speed Bar by 20% if we have 3 or more Mystic enemies, Barrier for 30% of Invisible Woman Max Health, +3 Deflects, Immunity

Scarlet Witch On Spawn Buffs: +1 Ability Energy for Vision if we have 3 or more Mystic enemies

Mighty Avenger:

  • In War Offense, if Hercules has 4 Mighty Avenger allies, whenever any character takes an action, perform the following before the attack on the target:
    • Clear all Charged, copy and clear all positive effects, excluding Stealth, and copy and clear Revive Once
    • Everyone but Hercules will not copy Taunt
  • Gain +300% Focus
  • When an enemy deals damage to Invisible Woman’s Barrier or an ally’s Barrier, she attack that enemy for 250% damage
  • On War Offense, the first time any character drops below 30% health:
    • Clear all negative effects on that character
    • Apply Defense Up and Stealth to that character
    • Barrier that character for 30% of Invisible Woman’s Max Health
  • Cannot gain Slow before Falcon takes a turn

Enemies:

  • Cannot fill the Speed Bar for themselves or allies on War Offense if Hercules has 4 Mighty Avenger allies

Team Mechanics

The Mighty Avenger team excels when used on Offense in Alliance War due to their various advantages in that game mode. They possess strong defensive capabilities with numerous buffs that are hard for opponents to remove. Additionally, they can steal buffs from their enemies, providing further advantages in battle.

One of their key strengths is the ability to manipulate the opponent’s Speed Bar by reducing it, while also preventing opponents from increasing their own Speed Bar. Offensively, the Mighty Avengers are formidable; they can deal significant damage and have impressive control over the battlefield. They can stun opponents, apply Ability Block, and extend negative effects on their foes. Overall, they are an outstanding War Offense team and undoubtedly one of the best available.

Hercules

Hercules is the main character of the Mighty Avenger team and serves as their Protector. He has a unique way of taunting opponents—he steals taunt from opposing Protectors. Thanks to his passive ability, this team can effectively take down almost any enemy when used as a War Offense option.

His Basic attack is straightforward. He attacks the primary target with an undodgeable strike, and any enemies killed by this attack cannot be revived.

The Special Ability costs 5 Ability Energy and can be used as early as the first turn. In this attack, Hercules strikes the primary target and adjacent enemies, inflicting 100% Drain (healing himself for the amount of damage dealt) and applying Defense Down to all targets. Additionally, he applies Ability Block and Disrupted to the primary target. Afterward, Hercules buffs his team by granting Offense Up (for 2 turns) to himself and all allies. This ability also flips all negative effects into positive ones for himself and all Mighty Avenger allies. This attack cannot be blocked or dodged. It’s an excellent way to start a fight, allowing Hercules to control one opponent and weaken the defenses of others, while enhancing his team’s offense and flipping negative effects.

Before using his Ultimate Ability (costing 8 Ability Energy and available from the second turn) Hercules buffs himself with Offense Up (2 turns) again. He then attacks all opponents with Piercing damage, which has a 50% Drain effect. This attack also reduces the primary target’s Speed Bar by 20% and is Unavoidable. This move can be devastating, as Hercules buffs his offense before each Ultimate attack, resulting in significant damage.

The Passive Ability is what makes Hercules essential to the Mighty Avenger team. At the start of each War Offense battle (upon spawning) Hercules applies Safeguard (for 2 turns) to the entire Mighty Avenger team. If there are 3 or more Mystic enemies, he fills the Speed Bar of himself and all Mighty Avenger allies by 20%, allowing them to act earlier. In War Offense, if there are 4 or more Mighty Avenger allies, Hercules prevents enemies from filling their Speed Bar (this excludes Speed Bar gained through normal means). Thus, even if enemies attempt to reduce the Mighty Avengers’ Speed Bar, they can’t fill their own, which is crucial.

The second part of his Passive is also more than interesting. Whenever Hercules takes an action, he clears all Charged effects, copies and clears all positive effects (excluding Stealth copying), and copies and clears Revive Once from the target. In War Offense, if Hercules is alive and has 4 or more Mighty Avenger allies, a Mighty Avenger ally performs these actions on their target before acting, except for copying Taunt.

This Ability allows the entire Mighty Avenger team to remove all buffs from their target and copy them for themselves before launching an attack (unfortunately, they can only do it in War Offense, but Hercules himself can do it in any game mode). Only Hercules can copy Taunt, making it effective since he is the protector of this team. The other allies will simply remove Taunt from their target without copying it. This passive ability enables the Mighty Avenger team to leave their opponents devoid of buffs while the team becomes fully buffed. Additionally, it effectively removes all Charged effects from opponents, making it difficult for teams reliant on Charged mechanics to succeed against the Mighty Avengers. The same applies to Revive Once, as the Mighty Avengers can remove that benefit from opponents while transferring it to themselves.

Hercules significantly buffs the Mighty Avenger team’s Focus, granting all team members +300%. This allows them to perform their abilities without fear of being resisted and plays a crucial role when they copy and clear buffs from opponents.

Invisibe Woman

Invisible Woman serves as the secondary protector of her team, shielding her allies with Barriers and removing negative effects. She possesses notably high Health, which allows her Barriers to have a significant impact since they are substantial. Another unique characteristic is her ability to conceal her entire team with Stealth. Additionally, she can debuff opponents and even Stun one of them.

With her Basic attack, she targets the primary enemy and applies a Barrier to herself equal to 10% of her Max Health. This serves as an effective means for Invisible Woman to boost her own damage mitigation.

Her Special costs 4 Ability Energy and can be used from the first turn. When activated, Invisible Woman removes all negative effects from herself and all Mighty Avenger allies, as well as two negative effects from all other allies. She then grants Stealth to all allies and applies Defense Up (for 2 turns) to herself and her teammates. Afterward, she clears Stealth from the ally with the highest Health and grants that ally 3 Deflects and Immunity (for 2 turns). If the ally with the highest Health has Safeguard, Stealth will not be removed from them. While everyone else is in Stealth, she can become the primary target for opponents. However, if the highest Health ally lacks Safeguard, the dynamics may change, providing an interesting strategic element for team protection. Following this, Invisible Woman removes Stealth from all enemies, preventing them from hiding behind it. Finally, she receives an assist from one random ally and one random Mighty Avenger ally, allowing two allies to attack the primary target she chose before using her Special.

Her Ultimate Ability costs 6 Ability Energy and can also be used in the first turn. Invisible Woman inflicts Offense Down (for 2 turns) on all enemies and grants a Barrier to all allies equal to 40% of her Max Health. She then targets the enemy with the highest Speed Bar (the opponent who is next in the line to play) and attacks with Piercing damage. In War Offense, she will repeat this attack and apply Stun. This provides an excellent way to mitigate her team while simultaneously controlling the opponent who is set to play right after.

Passive abilities allow Invisible Woman to counterattack any opponent who strikes an ally with a Barrier. Upon entering the battle, she applies Defense Up (for 2 turns) to the entire team, and during War Offense, she grants Barrier equal to 30% of her Max Health at the start. Consequently, every War Offense battle begins with the whole team under a Barrier, enabling Invisible Woman to automatically retaliate against opponents attacking any team member.

In War Offense, if either Invisible Woman or any Mighty Avenger ally falls below 30% Health for the first time, she will:

  • Clear all negative effects on that character
  • Apply Defense Up and Stealth to that character
  • Grant a Barrier to that character equal to 30% of her Max Health

This remarkably enhances the mitigation and sustainability of the entire Mighty Avenger team.

Additionally, Invisible Woman passively gains +20% Max Health, although her teammates do not benefit from this increase.

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch is a Controller who excels at applying and extending debuffs while also enhancing her team’s sustainability through self-healing and healing Vision. Additionally, she redistributes health evenly among the entire Mighty Avenger team. Scarlet Witch can both counter and spread negative effects to her opponents, making her a valuable asset to the team.

With her Basic, she attacks the primary target and applies 1-2 random negative effects. If she is not at full energy (meaning her abilities are not all available for use), she deals extra damage and applies Offense Down, Defense Down, and Slow to the target, each lasting for 2 turns. This means that when Scarlet Witch uses her Basic, she significantly reduces the target’s speed and offensive and defensive capabilities.

Her Special Ability allows Scarlet Witch to heal herself and Vision for 100% of their maximum health. This means they can recover to full health, even if they are close to defeat. After this healing, she redistributes the team’s total health evenly, ensuring that even the most damaged characters recover at the expense of those at full or nearly full health. Additionally, Scarlet Witch grants all allies Defense Up and Deflect, which greatly boosts the team’s sustainability and mitigation. Special costs 5 Ability Energy and can be used in the first turn.

Scarlet Witch’s Ultimate deals 150% Piercing damage to all opponents, but when paired with Vision, this damage increases to 300%. Furthermore, the Ultimate lengthens the duration of all negative effects by 1 on each enemy. The attack is Unavoidable and cannot be blocked. In War Offense, if there are 3 or more Mighty Avenger allies, she also reduces the duration of Defense Up on each enemy by 2. This means that even if the opposing team has Safeguard, their Defense Up will be lost if there are no more than 2 remaining. Ultimate costs 7 Ability Energy and can be used in the first turn.

On Spawn, in War Offense, if facing 3 or more Mystic enemies, Scarlet Witch generates 1 Ability Energy for an ally, Vision, allowing him to begin with his Ultimate ability. On her turn, she has a 50% chance to spread a negative effect from each enemy with a negative effect to an adjacent target, except for Stun. This enables the passive spread of various negative effects among multiple enemies, although this relies on RNG and is not guaranteed.

Whenever Scarlet is attacked, her Passive grants her Deflect. If an opponent attacks her Vision ally, Scarlet Witch retaliates with solid damage. Upon her death, she applies Offense Up, Defense Up, Speed Up, Counter, and Evade to Vision. If Vision dies, she gains the same buffs.

Vision

Vision is a another controller in the Mighty Avenger team, capable of removing positive effects, applying Bleed, reducing the Speed Bar, and inflicting Ability Block on opponents. He is specifically designed to be a strong counter to Support characters.

His Basic Ability allows him to attack the primary target and chain the attack to two adjacent targets. Each target receives Defense Down, and Tech targets also suffer from Bleed. However, if an opponent counterattacks, this chain attack is interrupted. After using his Basic attack, Vision receives an assist from his ally, Scarlet Witch, adding extra damage to the primary target.

With his Special, Vision attacks the primary target and applies Ability Block (for two turns if the target is Tech). He then attacks adjacent targets, applying Ability Block to one random adjacent target. When used in War Offense, if Vision has three or more Mighty Avenger allies, his Special attack cannot be blocked or dodged. This is a classic controlling move that ensures two opponents are unable to use their abilities. Special costs 4 Ability Energy and can be used in the first turn.

Vision’s Ultimate allows him to attack all opponents, clearing two positive effects and applying Bleed. On War Offense, if Scarlet Witch is his ally and he has three or more Mighty Avenger allies, Vision inflicts Trauma and Ability Block on all Support enemies and reduces the Speed Bar by 30% for all opponents. This makes him an exceptional counter against Support characters in War Offense, and the Speed Bar reduction is crucial in turn-based gameplay. Ultimate costs 6 Ability Energy and can be used in the second turn.

Through his Passive, Vision gains Defense Up for two turns upon spawning and also applies Defense Up (2 turns) to all Tech allies. In War Offense, he grants three Deflects to himself and all Mighty Avenger allies upon spawning. Additionally, he passively gains a +25% Dodge Chance and a +50% Focus, enhancing his control and sustainability in battle.

Falcon

Falcon is a Blaster capable of dealing massive damage to opponents while also increasing the Speed Bar for himself and all allies. He provides passive immunity to Slow for the entire team before taking his turn, which is crucial for allowing the team to act before enemies can inflict significant damage.

With his Basic attack, Falcon targets the primary enemy and performs a bonus attack (two bonus attacks in War). While it’s not particularly special, it does deal damage, so we won’t dwell on this ability.

Falcon’s Special costs only 3 Ability Energy, allowing him to use it frequently. He boosts the Speed Bar for himself and all allies by 30%, plus an additional 10% for each enemy that has any positive effects. In War Offense, if there are four or more Mighty Avenger allies, Falcon boosts the Speed Bar for himself and all Mighty Avengers by an extra 20%. This means it’s possible, especially in War Offense, for the entire team to reach 100% on the Speed Bar, enabling them to act immediately. Additionally, Falcon’s Special removes Stealth from all enemies, and this attack is Unavoidable and cannot be blocked, except against opponents with Safeguard. Given that it only costs 3 Ability Energy, this move can be used frequently during battles and greatly enhances the effectiveness of the Mighty Avenger team.

Falcon’s Ultimate allows him to inflict colossal damage on all opponents. He attacks every enemy, delivering bonus attacks on those with positive effects. For each positive effect on an enemy, he will do an extra attack. So, for example, if some enemy has 10 buffs, Falcon will do 10 bonus attacks on him. This means he can deal significantly more damage to opponents with many buffs compared to those with fewer. The bonus attacks are Piercing, meaning they ignore the opponent’s Armor. In War Offense, this Ultimate also applies Bleed to all enemies. It costs 5 Ability Energy and can be used as early as the first turn.

In addition, Falcon’s Passive grants Immunity to himself and all Mighty Avenger allies on Spawn, on War Offense. Before taking his turn, Falcon and all Mighty Avenger allies cannot be affected by Slow. Since he is the slowest character on the team and acts last, this ensures that all other team members can play without being slowed down first. Falcon also passively gains a +25% Block Chance, with an additional +5% Block Chance for each Mighty Avenger ally (making a total of 45%), as well as +10% Block Amount.

Hercules provides +300% Focus to the team.

Combat Tips & Tricks

The Mighty Avenger team excels in War Offense, so we’ll focus on their strengths in this game mode. At the start of the battle, they receive Safeguard, Immunity, Defense Up, and Deflect, making them immune to negative effects from opponents. Additionally, they won’t experience the Slow debuff until Falcon takes his turn, providing overall immunity to that debuff until then. This team can also steal numerous positive effects from their opponents, allowing them to amass many buffs while leaving their enemies with few, if any. Since they prevent opponents from filling their Speed Bar (except through normal means), enemies that rely heavily on this mechanic—such as Super Skrull, Apocalypse, or Kahhori—will struggle against this team.

Hercules takes the first turn and can attack multiple opponents with his Special ability, healing himself if he has taken damage beforehand. He also grants the team Offense Up and applies Ability Block to the primary target, preventing it from using Abilities. Next, Vision plays. Depending on whether there are three Mystic opponents, he will either use his Special or Ultimate ability. If he uses his Special, he can apply Ability Block to two enemies. If he chooses his Ultimate, he will reduce the Speed Bar for all enemies while applying Ability Block and Trauma to all Support enemies.

Invisible Woman follows and can either Stun an opponent and apply a large Barrier to the entire team (using her Ultimate) or remove all negative effects from the team while applying Immunity, Stealth, and Deflect with her Special ability. After her, the Scarlet Witch can extend all the debuffs applied earlier. Finally, Falcon has the option to increase the Speed Bar for the entire team (using his Special) or deal significant damage to all opponents (with his Ultimate). If the opposing team has many buffs, the second option is usually more advantageous.

In subsequent turns, the team will continue to build on the advantage they’ve gained. Hercules will deal substantial damage with his Ultimate, and the other team members will contribute to the victory. Any opposing teams that depend on filling their Speed Bar, utilizing Charged mechanics, or relying on Revive Once will be overwhelmed by this team.
