The Punisher | Marvel Rivals
Biography
Frank Castle, the one-man army vigilante, quickly found himself at home in this temporal realm. The only difference is he now wields advanced tech weaponry, making him an even more dangerous instrument of justice and punishment.
This Punisher has had his lifespan vastly lengthened by an experimental serum and is from the future. As a member of New Marvel Knights, Frank fought alongside Black Widow and the others against Doom 2099, until he ended up here.
Overview
Role – Duelist
Difficulty – ★✩✩✩✩
Tier – S
Team Up – Rocket Raccoon
Abilities
Normal Attack 1 (Left Click): Adjudication – Fire at enemies with Adjudication, his Automatic Rifle. The best use for it is in mid-range where you can easily track the target. Practice your tracking aim for his Rifle.
Normal Attack 2 (Left Click): Deliverance – Fire at enemies with Deliverance, his Shotgun. It can be used for one-tapping targets, while most squishy targets can be consistently two-tapped! Take your time in the beginning but I do suggest besides your tracking that you need for aiming with his Rifle, to practice flicking for your shotgun because a lot of characters in Marvel Rivals like to be in your face and they are moving fast. That’s almost impossible to track.
- Final Judgement (Q) – Unleash two Gatling guns and missiles to attack enemies. Just know when you use it you are an easy target to hit because your hitbox becomes huge. But also if you see them first it’s gg.
- Vantage Connection (LShift) – Launch a hook to generate a cable that enables the Punisher to move rapidly by pressing F.
Very good ability for covering great distances and remember that your zipline stays even if you use another one. After you die be sure to use it instantly from spawn, then next time use the last one first than make a new one, you get the pattern. - Culling Turret (E) – Deploy a Culling Turret that grounds the Punisher while dealing massive damage. I don’t recommend using this ability a lot. It’s just good for some chokes and for breaking shields. However, sometimes you can use it to survive burst damage because you will have a reduction in this form.
- Scourge Grenade (Right Click) – Throw a Smoke Grenade forward to Obscure enemy vision. It’s amazing for escaping dive heroes because they can’t see you and you jump backward after you use it. Also, another great use is to deny sights of enemy long-range characters.
- Warrior’s Gaze (Passive) – Retain vision of enemies that disappear from view for a short duration. It’s very good when someone is trying to run away with low hp or hide.
- Infinite Punishment (Passive) – Team Up Ability – Rocket Raccoon throws an Ammo Overload Device in the target direction. Upon entering the device’s range, The Punisher receives the buffs of Infinite Ammo and Faster Firing. Devastating duo, Punisher who is already a Top Tier character becomes even better.
Strengths
The Punisher is an easy hero to learn, while also being very consistent. On top of that, having Rocket Raccoon on your team will allow you to do devastating damage! Great against flying heroes! He is amazing at denying space from the enemy, especially on tanks who think he is just regular squishy, that’s when his shotgun comes into play.
Weaknesses
He is an easy target to hit as he is quite slow and a very big hitbox for duelists. Other long-range characters can hit HS on him consistently.
Counters
Hela and Namor are probably the only two characters that can annoy Punisher because he has a big hitbox, especially when he uses his ult, and he can not move fast, it’s easy to find his head.
These two if they land their shots will kill you in no time, that’s why recommend trying, if you can, to not play in their line of sight and surprise them with an off angle.
Team-Ups
Once the Punisher is teamed up with Rocket Raccoon he quickly turns into a force to be reckoned with. Once Rocket Raccoon activates his Team Up, the Punisher will get both Infinite Ammo and Faster Firing, allowing him to cut through his enemies like a hot knife through butter!
Synergy
Besides his Team Up with the Rocket Raccoon, the Punisher is also a great fit for Poke compositions! But overall his amazing damage and the fact he can switch from a close to long-range weapon in no time, makes him fit in any comp.
Tips and Tricks
Look for a way to do damage constantly. Keep the pressure on, he is the best character for doing that, nobody can ignore Punisher around them
Try to communicate with your Rocket Raccoon as having him on your team makes a night and day difference. Using his Z in the right moment will win you a lot of fights, just keep your volume up if you are not in voice chat, which I highly recommend in this situation at least, to hear it when he uses it, then unleash hell and don’t reload.
Don’t forget that your LShift ability remains in the location where you used it, which means you can use it multiple times!
Remember to switch to your shotgun when the enemies are close to you, especially tanks.
Try to play in mid-range most of the time because you are most useful that way.
Practice your tracking and flicking because Punisher is one of the characters that need both.
When you use your ult remember that you should still aim at the targets you want to focus on first, I know sometimes her shooters can be confusing because a lot of things are happening on the screen but you will get used to it in no time.
