Adam Warlock | Marvel Rivals

Biography

Wielder of Quantum Magic, Adam Warlock became the only thing standing between all life in all universes and complete annihilation when Thanos had the Infinity Glove. When the Timestream Entanglement event happened, he survived thanks to his powers and later found out about the threat Knull poses to the Galaxy.

Now, he is determined to eliminate all threats and has joined up with the Guardians of the Galaxy and other good guys. As a representation of the full potential of what a human being can become, the genetically enhanced powerhouse is a hefty addition to any team.

Overview

Role – Strategist
Difficulty – ★★✩✩✩
Tier – A
Team Up – Star-Lord, Mantis

Abilities

layer 1 copy Quantum Magic (Left Click) – Launch quantum energy to deal damage. Because characters in Marvel Rivals are very hard to keep track of, especially flankers who are your biggest problem, I suggest practicing flicking aim because it feels more consistent in his type of bullet.

cosmic cluster final Cosmic Cluster (Right Click) – Gather quantum energy into a cluster and then swiftly launch it at the enemy. It’s mostly good for poking due to its range. Sometimes if the target Is not full hp you will get a surprise kill.

soul bond final Soul Bond (LShift) – Unites the soul of allies in a bond, granting them Healing over Time and distributing damage taken across the bond.

Adam Warlock will share a portion of the damage sustained by linked allies. If Adam Warlock sustains damage that would KO him due to the link, then the link will be broken, and he will retain 1 Health. The link will also break once enough damage is sustained, if Adam Warlock or the linked ally leaves the link’s range, or after a certain length of time has passed.

This ability is great for surviving Dives as it not only heals over time but also shares damage taken with nearby allies, meaning, unless the divers are extremely coordinated, they will have little to no chance of finishing the target!

avatar life stream finalAvatar Life Stream (E) – Target an ally for a bouncing stream of healing energy, which also heals himself upon casting; self-targets if no ally is selected. This ability is great for when your allies need a lot of spot healing – such as when your fellow Strategist is getting dove by enemies.

karmic revival final Karmic Revival (Q) – Awaken the karma of allies to revive them. Allies revived have lower health but enjoy a brief period of invincibility. Sometimes it is better to revive a single player that can help you win the fight, especially if it is an important hero, such as a tank, or a teammate with a game-changing Ultimate ability ready. Don’t use it if you are already backing off, try to imagine it like a tempo ability to quickly get back into the fight if the enemy gets a surprise kill on your team.

regenerative cocoon final Regenerative Coccoon (Passive) – Once his body perishes, Adam Warlock can freely move as a soul and reforge his body at a chosen spot. Remember to resurrect yourself in a safe spot where enemies can’t catch you that fast.

– Soul Perseverance (Passive) – Team-Up Ability – Adam Warlock enhances the rebirth power of Star-Lord and Mantis, granting them the power of cocooned revival.

Strengths

Adam Warlock is a perfect hybrid between a support and a duelist. If a fight lasts longer with Adam still alive, odds are he will land a headshot that will help him swing the tides to his side. He has a great damage output, while his healing abilities – Soul Bound and Avatar Life Stream can help his allies survive the enemy dive!

Weaknesses

Adam himself is rather weak against dive compositions as he doesn’t really have any movement abilities on his own and depends on his allies in order to survive, so make sure to position properly, giving your allies enough time to help you live through sketchy situations!

Counters

Spider-Man, Venom, Magik, Black Panther

Spidey and Venom are a deadly duo against any Strategist, but Adam Warlock due to his lack of mobility, and cc abilities, is probably the weakest out of all against them. There are a couple of things that you can try, first is to practice your aim because his headshots will make the runaway. The second is that you need to get used to using your Avatar Life Stream (E) aiming at the ground when they attack you because it heals you more that way. And the last is to use your Soul Bond (LShift)
just before they go in and share damage taken with your team, making it easier to stay alive.

With Magik and Black Panther, you have almost the same problem, the only difference is that have even more hp, but are a lot easier to get track of.

Team-Ups

Thanks to Adam’s Team-Up Ability, Star-Lord gets to go for even more aggressive plays as he can revive himself if he falls to the enemy team, while Mantis also gets some breathing room as she doesn’t have too many abilities to get out of dangerous situations on her own!

Synergy

Adam Warlock is a great pick for Poke compositions as he can deal not only high, but also consistent damage. He works great with Mantis, his Team-Up partner as he can help her survive enemy dives, while she will cover for his lack of healing once his abilities are on cooldown!

Tips and Tricks

When playing Adam Warlock, you should try to position yourself in a way that allows you to deal constant damage, because, if he has time to shoot freely, you will win the fight.

As Adam is weak against Dive composition, try to stay near covers and allies that can protect you from incoming threats.

Keep an eye out for your passive if you have Mantis or Star-Lord on your team so you don’t use your ultimate ability on them if it is off cooldown.

Don’t get baited by your ultimate ability, trying to revive as many teammates, sometimes all you need is one teammate that has his Ultimate ability ready!
