Captain America | Marvel Rivals
Biography
Cap was a skinny kid from Brooklyn, New York, with dreams of patriotism and service to his country. The super-soldier serum erased his flaws and left his character intact, making him one of the most inspirational characters ever.
Steve Rogers is armed only with a Shield, symbolizing the emphasis on protection, not attack, so he often comes at odds with the government that created him. Now, displaced by the Timestream Entanglement, Cap tries to make sense of this new reality and do what he does best – fight for the good guys.
Overview
Role – Vanguard
Difficulty – ★★✩✩✩
Tier – A
Team Up – Thor, Storm
Abilities
Normal Attack (Left Click): Sentinel Strike – Get up close to strike enemies. Landing the second hit enables a shield throw that can ricochet. It’s not that complicated you don’t need that much aim just reaction time.
Abilities:
- Freedom Charge (Q) – Grants both himself and allies along the path of continuous Bonus Health and Movement Boosts. Great ultimate for team fights u should always have the advantage when it’s up. Just don’t overthink it, if you think that it’s good to use it, it probably is.
- Leading Dash (LShift) – Boost speed, enabling Fearless Leap. It is very good for getting to enemies faster but also for escaping danger. After you get Fearless Leap it’s easy to use Super – Soldier Slam. Has no cooldown but you cannot shoot while running. Amazing for chasing enemies, but also running from cover to cover.
- Super-Soldier Slam (Left Click when you are in the air or high ground) – Slam down from the sky onto the targeted area, Knocking Enemies Airborne. The best thing for starting combos.
- Vibranium Energy Saw (E) – Hurl the energy-charged shield to strike enemies in a path. It ricochets so you can use it on the ground sometimes and don’t need to aim it that precisely.
- Liberty Rush (F) – Raise the shield and charge forward. Also, it is perfect for shortening the distance between you and the enemy and running away when u are in the danger zone. Just another great Captain’s ability for closing the distance.
- Living Legend (Right Click) – Raise the shield to deflect incoming projectiles, sending them ricocheting in random directions. It has 500 HP and it recovers but if it cracks it has a cooldown. Great for protecting while closing distance but also from high-damage ultimate. One thing that is bad is that you can not shoot in the direction you want, it is just random, but it would be too op due to no cooldown part.
- Charged Aegis (C) – When Teamed Up with Thor, Captain America electrifying enhancement. When C is activated he gets Movement Boost, and his shield becomes a ranged weapon for a couple of seconds. It also ricochets to nearby enemies. It gives Captain some range that he desperately needs.
Strengths
Captain thrives in close combat. That means he is good in Brawl comps. When he gets in your face, and he has a lot of tools to do that, the enemy team cannot ignore him and that gives the rest of your team a lot of space. He is amazing at dodging bullets with his speed, and if by any chance he can, he just deflects them making him very annoying to play against.
Weaknesses
He is really weak against flying characters because he doesn’t have a ranged weapon to deal with them. Sometimes if they manage to keep their distance Poke comps can be a problem.
Counters
Iron Man, Storm, Hela
Captain has no range weapon, so characters like Iron Man and Storm are a problem. I recommend using his shield to block their damage and use cover to get to the rest of their team. Dealing with enemy tanks and supports should provide enough space and time for your duelist to deal with them.
Hela is not as big a problem as these two, but she can be annoying at long ranges, so you should try to close up and after that, she will be no threat.
Team-Ups
His Team Up is Thor. He grants Captain electrifying enhancement. When C is activated Captain America gets Movement Boost, and his shield becomes a ranged weapon for a couple of seconds. It also ricochets to nearby enemies.
Synergy
Captain America is in good synergy with characters that are good in Brawl comps. Heroes like Storm and Mantis that can give a speed boost to him also make Captain so much better.
Tips and Tricks
Try to shorten your distance as much as you can.
You have LShift all the time, don’t forget that always be on the move.
When you run, that also enables Fearless Leap so you can jump higher, and that enables Super-Soldier Slam so you can cover large distances very fast and do some damage and knock enemies. Also, use one of your movement abilities to run when it becomes rough.
Use covers to close the gap, and don’t be scared of being aggressive.
Thor as your friend duo will be perfect for competitive games, as they fit perfectly together.
I would recommend higher mouse sensitivity on this hero because you don’t need to be that accurate with your shots, its far more important to move and turn around fast.
