Biography

This child-face killer may be adorable, but can eat your whole team in a gulp! Jeff is one of the youngest Marvel comic book characters, created in 2019. As far as the story goes, land sharks, sharks that walk on dry land, were made by the villain M.O.D.O.K.

One such baby land shark was adopted by the character Gwenpool, a real-world person transported into the world of comic books. She named it Jeff and the two faced off MODOK in a limited series of awesome stories. Now, Jeff brings the healing to the arena, but can’t help its true nature sometimes.

Abilities

Normal Attack (Left Click): Joyful Splash – Unleash a healing splash. It’s a short-range heal, amazing in rush comps where you all stick together.

Normal Attack (Right Click): Aqua Burst – Launch a high-speed water sphere that bursts upon impact, dealing damage to enemies within range. You will be surprised how many kills good Jeffs get with this.

• It’s Jeff! (Q) – Deep dive into the scene and resurface to swallow both enemies and allies within range, activating Hide and Seek for a brief duration before ejecting the swallowed heroes forward. This ability can be used to not only completely exclude enemy characters from a team fight, but also to save your allies from certain death! Imagine going in the enemy lines pulling out their healer and spitting it in the middle of your team, or even off the map.
  
  
• Hide and Seek (LShift) – Dive into the scene with only his dorsal fin exposed, granting himself a Movement Boost and the wall-crawl ability. This ability can be used to run away from sketchy situations, as long as you aren’t in the middle of a team fight! But don’t get fooled into thinking you can not receive damage like this even tho it looks like it because you are going underground.
  
  
• Healing Bubble (E) – Spit a bubble that heals the ally who collects it and boosts all healing received by that ally. Make sure to drop a few bubbles behind your teammates that are in the frontline, as well as next to yourself as they can quickly top you and prevent you from dying! They can be destroyed if the enemy goes through them.
  
  
• Oblivious Cuteness (Passive) – Reduce damage taken from critical Strikes. They tried to compensate his easy-to-hit head, but I don’t think they did enough.
  
  
• New Friends (C) – Team Up Ability – Jeff the Land Shark and Rocket Raccoon can ride on Groot’s shoulders, receiving Damage Reduction. Very good for escaping burst damage, but don’t stay there too long because any cc ability on Groot will pull you down in the middle of the fight.
  
  
• Frozen Spitball (X) – Team Up Ability – Luna Snow infuses ice energy into Namor and Jeff the Land Shark, who then can tap into the ice energy to power up abilities at will.

Strengths

Jeff the Land Shark is great at healing grouped-up teammates because next to his main heal, he can create a field of healing bubbles all around them making them not easy to kill.

Weaknesses

Despite having the ability to climb walls and leave bubbles for himself, Jeff still has a lot of difficulties surviving against flying and long-range characters.

Counters

Iron Man, Storm, Hela, The Punisher

Jeff is everything Tony and Storm want from enemy support, easy to hit, and has no range ability. Unlike Rocket Racoon who has almost the same hitbox he can at least move very fast, Jeff it’s just a walking target for them.

To avoid getting killed try to position yourself close to cover or inside some building, also feel free to ask for protection from your teammates, who wouldn’t help cute little Jeff.

Hela and Punisher are problems because again your hitbox is just a round bubble which is very hard to miss. Punisher can also easily track you due to lack of movement. Again try to be smart and escape their line of sight and position yourself close to something you can go behind fast.

Team-Ups

Once you have Luna Snow on your team, you will get access to the Frozen Spitball ability which will leave ice patches on the ground where your right click lands, slowing enemies a bit. Amazing at slowing enemy push, especially at the choke.

Synergy

Jeff the Land Shark gets to shine alongside teammates who can peel for him, such as Magneto and Luna Snow or Mantis for instance, as they can not only shield him but also have CC abilities that will prevent any incoming dives!

Tips and Tricks

Try to land Healing Bubbles just behind your frontline as it will make it easier for them to walk into it as they slowly move back, and, at the same time, you will have an easier time topping them off.

Keep an eye out for enemy dive characters and try to play around walls as some melee characters will have difficulty catching up to you.

Also, make sure to have a few Healing Bubbles near yourself as they can give your team enough time to react if you need help!

Don’t forget to be active and shoot when there is no one In danger.

You can throw people off the map from your ult, but if you capture ones that have flying or any movement ability with which they can escape, just jump yourself with them don’t spit. If you captured only one I don’t think it’s worth dying for it, a better solution is just to spit it in the middle of your team and kill together.
