Strengths
Iron Man is great on maps with no sky limit and a lot of angles that help him keep constant pressure, but also allow him to retreat behind cover. He is great on both Tokyo maps. Also, if you don’t have a character that counters him he is very hard to stop.
Weaknesses
The issue with Iron Man is when he is shooting, he is an easy target to hit. So, if you have a good hit-scan character on your team, such as Hela or Punisher, or even Spider-Man, who, believe it or not, is also a great counter for flying characters, you won’t have any problems dealing with this character as he won’t have a lot of freedom and will need to hide constantly!
Counters
Hela, Punisher, Spider-Man
Tony Stark is a slow-flying character that does a lot of damage but is very easy to hit. All hitscan characters can create a problem for him but Hela and Punisher are the most consistent.
Hela wants to be far against you that’s why it’s smart to use cover and try to get closer, use your Armor Overdrive (E), and finish her quickly.
Against Punisher you can poke a little bit more because he can not burst you as fast as Hela does, so try to find angles to poke and help your team finish him off.
The third one is weird and really tricky. It’s so strange to have close-range characters like Spider-Man being counter to Iron Man who can fly all the time.
The problem is that Spidey needs to lend just one of his Web Cluster (Right Click), to start his combo, and if he has Venom Team Up he can one-shot you.
So you should make him that he needs to get into the dangerous spots to get you, or if u see him use it already BCS he has a long cooldown try to focus him before he gets another one.
Team-Ups
Whenever Iron-Man has Hulk on his team, with each Gamma Overdrive (E) activation, Iron-Man will benefit from much-needed extra damage on his Repulsor Blast (Left Click), allowing his poke to be even stronger! As we have mentioned earlier, sometimes it is worth picking Hulk only for Iron Man’s E ability as it makes that much of a difference!
Synergy
Iron Man works great with Strategists who can pocket flying heroes, such as Luna Snow and Mantis. Of course, he also works great with Hulk as well!
Tips and Tricks
Poke from a safe distance and from behind cover and engage only once targets are low or your entire team is pushing forward. Use off angles a lot.
Try to stay out of line of sight of hitscan heroes such as Hela and Punisher.
Use your shift to escape tricky situations, try to use your ultimate ability from safe positions.
Right-click against other flying heroes if they are in range, but also to finish off targets!
The key is to play safe until your overdrive, and when you get it just melt them down!
