Requirements for Legendary Characters

Intro

Legendary Characters are the trademark of Marvel Strike Force. They can be farmed in specific Events that are permanently available in the Events section. Their mechanics make them extremely valuable and rare.

MSF game concept emphasizes new Heroes over old ones, making older Characters less valuable at some point. Developers do periodically implement slight reworks, to increase the importance of older Characters, which had varying levels of success. But this, at the very least, ensures that most of the characters can be successfully used to some extent, even once they are out of the Meta.

Having all of that in mind, here’s the list of all requirements for Legendary Characters. We will start with the oldest Legendary and finish with the most recent.

Each Legendary has a different Star Rank that they can unlock at, but to get 7 Yellow Stars on them you will have to use the required characters at 7 Yellow Stars as well. Some legendary characters have fairly open requirements which means you can use a lot of characters to unlock them, while others might require a specific group of 5. We will list the best picks for each one with some alternatives where possible. If you don’t have the listed characters you can sort your roster using the mentioned Train to see who you can use.

Iron Man

Requirements: 5 S.H.I.E.L.D. Characters with 2 Yellow Stars are needed to unlock Iron Man.

Nodes 5 and 10 of the Pestilence Scourge Event will require Dark-Hunter, Web-Warrior, Hive-Mind, and/or Underworld characters.

The best team to use for Pestilence Scourge is Hive-Mind, if you managed to unlock Void Knight when his event was active you can just use him with Venom and Carnage, and you will be able to clear their nodes. If you’re nowhere close to unlocking Hive-Mind you can use Underworld here. The other 2 teams are outdated and are not recommended.

Rogue

Requirements: Earn Points in Famine Scourge Event:

500k Points: Immediately unlocks a 3 Yellow Stars Rogue

Nodes 5 and 10 of the Famine Scourge Event require Young Avenger, Inhuman, A-Force, Infestation, New Warrior, and/or Secret Defender Characters.

The best options are:

By far, the best option for this Scourge is Secret Defenders, they will offer you a lot of value not only for this Scourge but also in every other game mode. Alternatively, you could use New Warriors.

Red Hulk

Requirements: Earn Points in War Scourge Event:

500k Points: Immediately unlocks a 3 Yellow Stars Red Hulk

Nodes 5 and 10 in War Scourge Event require Asgardian, Ravager, Wave I Avenger, and/or Black Order Characters.

The best options are:

For the War Scourge, we recommend either going with an Asgardian team or trying a combination of Wave I Avengers (Hulk, Captain America) with Asgardians. All Bifrost members are Asgardians and they are excellent in Raids, so if you upgrade them they will provide a lot of value in that game mode.

Archangel

Requirements: Earn Points in Death Scourge Event:

500k Points: Immediately unlocks a 3 Yellow Stars Archangel

Nodes 5 and 10 in Death Scourge Event will require Bionic Avenger, P.E.G.A.S.U.S., and/or Wakandan Characters.

The best options are:

P.E.G.A.S.U.S. is the best team that can be used here, they are relatively new and relevant and are necessary for high-end Raids.

Nova

Requirements: Earn Points in Nova Trials Event:

500k Points: Immediately unlock a 3 Yellow Stars Nova

Nodes 2, 6, and 10 of Nova Trials require Masters of Evil, X-Factor, and/or Quicksilver

The best options are:

Kang – (Incursion 3-8)
Moonstone – (Raid Store, Villains Hard 4-3)
Titania – (Nexus Hard 4-9)
Absorbing Man – (War Store)
Ultron – (Dark Dimension II)
Quicksilver – (Cosmic Crucible Store)

For Nova Trials we Recommend full Masters of Evil or MoE + Quicksilver (Drop Absorbing Man). Investing in X-Factor for this would be a waste of resources since they won’t be able to do much at all.

Black Cat

Requirements: Earn Points in Black Cat Trials Event:

500k Points: Immediately unlock a 3 Yellow Stars Black Cat

Nodes 2, 6, and 10 of Nova Trials require Knowhere and/or Sinister Six characters.

The best options are:

Both teams that you can use for Black Cat Trials will offer you good value at this point, but overall Superior Six(all Superior are also Sinister) characters will be the best ones to use. So the best team setup would include Green Goblin (Classic), Doctor Octopus, Kraven, Vulture and Mysterio.

Superior Six team will offer a lot of value in War and Cosmic Crucible modes, while Knowhere can only shine in War.

Green Goblin (Classic)

Requirements: Earn Points in Green Goblin (Classic) Trials Event:

500k Points: Immediately unlock a 3 Yellow Stars Green Goblin (Classic)

Nodes 2, 6, and 10 of Nova Trials require New Avengers and/or Rebirth characters.

The best team to use here would be New Avengers, but to get higher scores both teams will be required.

Apocalypse

To recruit Apocalypse, players must have 4 Horsemen teams (Darkhold, Unlimited X-Men, Gamma, Death Seed), Kestrel, Deathpool, and Spider-Weaver at level 85, Gear Tier 16, and Iso-8 T2 Level 4. And to complete the Apocalypse Saga at Heroic difficulty level (3-star all missions).

In order to be able to play the Heroic difficulty level at all, they must complete Pestilence, Famine, War, and Death Saga on the Heroic difficulty level (3 stars for all missions).

Yellow stars are not necessary to play Apocalypse or any other Saga. However, the more stars a character has, the stronger they are, which automatically means it will be easier to finish the Saga.
