War Tower

VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT

Intro

Get ready for the ultimate test of your roster as the War Tower event arrives, giving you your very first chance to collect Awakened abilities for Jeff the Land Shark, as well as Character Shards for Jeff.

Tower Rules

War Tower: Jeff the Land Shark features two distinct towers:

  • War Tower: This tower is designed with more forgiving enemies, making it ideal for early-game Commanders. It’s a great place to build up your skills and strengthen your teams before facing tougher challenges.
  • War Tower (Omega): This tower is intended for experienced / older players with endgame rosters. Here, you’ll encounter much stronger enemies, so be sure to bring your top teams. It’s the ultimate challenge, perfect for those who want to test their skills at the highest level.

Depending on how strong and deep your roster is, you can choose the path that suits you best.

Get your best War teams ready, because War Tower strongly favors Alliance War teams as you progress through its levels. Each mission will have Alliance War mode enabled. While you aren’t required to use War teams, these squads have special abilities that make them much more effective against the enemies you’ll encounter on every floor. Using War teams will give you a significant advantage as you climb the tower.

The War Tower is made up of 12 floors, but only 6 will be available at first, with the remaining 6 floors unlocking in the second week of the event. Every floor comes with both Easy and Hard options, so there’s always a new challenge as the event goes on.

Here’s how it works:

  • 2 Towers
  • 12 total floors for each tower
  • 6 floors released each week for each tower
  • Each room has a trait requirement
  • Deploy a 5-character team into each battle
  • When you defeat a room, the team you used will go on cooldown until the next floors of the Tower unlock (next week)
  • The reset will happen for all players at the same time.
  • Enemy character abilities and Health do not persist between combats. Every mission starts with fresh health and character ability energy.

You’ll need to make smart choices with your roster for each room, because after you win, the team you used will go on cooldown until the next set of floors is released. All players get a reset at the same time, so every win and every roster decision counts toward how far you can climb.

If you want to try again or take a different approach, you can reset your Tower progress at any time. This lets you replay floors, and all your characters on cooldown will become available again.

One important note: Health and abilities for both your team and the enemies reset before every mission, so you always start with full health and ability energy.

To succeed, you can:

  • Strategically save your best teams for the toughest floors
  • Reset your progress and try a new tactic if you need to

Whether you focus on climbing as far as possible in one go or try different strategies with resets, the War Tower rewards players who can adapt and make smart decisions.

Floors Requirements

  • Cell 1: Hero
  • Cell 2: Global Villain
  • Cell 3: Hero
  • Cell 4: Non-Mythic Skill or Non-Mythic Mystic
  • Cell 5: Non-Mythic Global
  • Cell 6: Non-Mythic Cosmic Villain
  • Cell 7: Hero
  • Cell 8: Global Villain
  • Cell 9: Hero
  • Cell 10: Non-Mythic Skill or Non-Mythic Mystic
  • Cell 11: Non-Mythic Global
  • Cell 12: Non-Mythic Cosmic Villain

As we can see from the requirements, War teams will be dominant, especially since the War rules are active in this Tower event. Teams like Shadow Conclave, Winter Guard, Undying, Brimstone, and Omen will all be useful. You can find out exactly where to use each of them in our walkthrough.

Rewards

Climbing the Tower Milestones will earn you Tower Commendations, which in turn help you make progress toward weekly Commander Center Objectives and the special Guard Shark Milestone.

By completing the Guard Shark Milestone, you can look forward to rewards like:

  • Jeff the Land Shark character shards
  • Jeff the Land Shark Awakened Basic and Ultimate

If you’re looking for an even greater challenge—and bigger rewards—try out the War Tower (Omega) difficulty. Taking on this tougher version of the event lets you earn even more Jeff the Land Shark shards and Awakened Ability Materials.

  • Players whose teams aren’t strong enough to play the Omega version of the Tower can still participate in the regular version, where they can earn 70 Jeff the Land Shark Shards and 50 Jeff’s Basic Awakened Ability Materials
  • However, those who are able to clear at least the first Cell in the Omega version will collect additional 5 Jeff Shards and 25 Ultimate Awakened Ability Materials
  • Players who are able to complete all 6 Cells in the Omega version of the Tower during the first week of the event will collect 110 Jeff’s Character Shards, 75 Basic, and 60 Ultimate Awakened Ability Materials
  • Players who complete all 12 Cells in the Omega version of the War Tower during the second week of the event will receive valuable rewards. They will earn 310 Jeff the Land Shark Character Shards, along with 200 Basic Awakened Ability Materials and 200 Ultimate Awakened Ability Materials. These rewards will allow players to upgrade Jeff the Land Shark’s Basic and Ultimate abilities to the Awakened level, making him even stronger in battles.

Video Guide

If you’re more of a visual learner, we have a handy Video Guide where you can see step-by-step how to handle each of the Cells.

Walkthrough

Cell 1: Hero

Suggested team: Liberty + Sentry

For the first Cell, we used the Liberty team together with Sentry. If you don’t have Liberty, you can use Secret Warrior, Mighty Avenger, or Absolute A-Force. Any older Hero War specialized team combined with Sentry will also get the job done.

This Cell isn’t particularly difficult, but pay attention to Sebastian Shaw, as he can be tricky. If you use Liberty as we did, all enemies will have Taunt, so you can choose freely who to attack. Our general advice is to focus on taking out Azazel, Rachel Summers, and Emma Frost first. Sebastian is a bit tougher and will withstand your attacks longer, but he won’t pose much of a threat on his own.

Cell 2: Global Villain

Suggested team: Undying + Ares

Here, we used four Undying characters and Ares, since Hela is Cosmic and can’t be used in this Cell.

At the start, focus on taking down Morgan Le Fay, as you don’t want her around when Apocalypse and Red Hulk arrive in the second enemy wave. Juggernaut (Zombie), supported by the rest of the Undying team, will deal massive damage to all opponents. The Undying team should have no trouble clearing the enemies, and once only one is left, Apocalypse, Red Hulk, and Brawn will appear in the second wave. Prioritize Apocalypse first, then Red Hulk.

Cell 3: Hero

Suggested team: Fantastic Four (MCU) + Professor Xavier

This is the last Cell where you can use Mythic characters during the first week, so it’s ideal to take advantage of Professor here. With him, you can lead one of the strongest teams in the game—if not the strongest—the Fantastic Four (MCU).

At the start, you’ll face Absolute A-Force and Astral characters. Focus on eliminating Emma Frost (X-Men) and Ancient One as quickly as possible. Xavier can Ability Block Shadow King with his Special (it doesn’t have to be his primary target). Kahhori and Medusa will fall quickly from AOE damage. Playing with F4 (MCU) gives you a significant speed advantage, so the first wave shouldn’t pose much of a challenge.

In the second wave, Thunderbolts appear, but by then you’ll have access to Xavier’s Ultimate, Human Torch’s Ultimate, and the Specials of your other characters. Cleaning up the Thunderbolts should go smoothly.

Cell 4: Non-Mythic Skill or Non-Mythic Mystic

Suggested team: Brimstone

Full Brimstone is the best option for this Cell. From the very start, focus all your attention on Odin—don’t hold back your abilities, use everything you have. Daimon Hellstrom’s and Hellcat’s Ultimates will deal massive damage to all enemies and apply a lot of nasty debuffs.

Elsa is especially important here, because even if Spider-Weaver uses her Ultimate and applies Charged to herself, Elsa Bloodstone has extra Accuracy, so make sure to use her to finish off Weaver—otherwise, your other team members might miss.

If you have a strong Brimstone team, you shouldn’t have any trouble taking down Odin, and once he’s gone, dealing with the remaining enemies will be much easier.

Cell 5: Non-Mythic Global

Suggested team: Winter Guard

This Cell is designed for the Winter Guard team, and they will have no trouble handling Mephisto, Emma, and Fantastic Four (MCU) characters. The key here is to make sure your characters are strong enough to survive the initial enemy attacks, as all the opponents will take their turns before you. However, once Darkstar gets her turn, her Ultimate will completely turn the battle in your favor.

In the second wave, Hulk, Sentry, and the Eternal duo will appear when only one enemy from the first wave remains. You shouldn’t have any trouble dealing with them. Focus on taking out one Eternal first, then handle the rest. It’s a good idea to leave Sentry for last, but even if you eliminate him earlier, it’s not a big problem.

Cell 6: Non-Mythic Cosmic Villain

Suggested team: Shadow Conclave + Knull

Here, we used 4 Shadow Conclave characters plus Knull, since we still don’t have Malekith. With him, this Cell would be even easier—and then you can use Knull instead of Sylvie.

At the start, use Thanos’s Special to get Taunt, and use Knull’s Ultimate right away to apply the Battlefield Effect. Then, with the rest of your characters, use all available abilities as soon as possible. Once you remove Taunt from Gladiator, your main focus should be on the enemy Knull, followed by Thanos Endgame and Gorr. Even if you get unlucky with RNG and all enemies target one of your characters (which happened to us—you can see it in our video) and you lose Executioner (for example), you can still beat this Cell.

In the second wave, Insidious Six appear. Focus on taking out Vulture and Superior Spider-Man first, then Hobgoblin. Hobgoblin can be dangerous with his attacks and deal a lot of damage. The general advice is not to save any abilities—use everything as soon as it’s available, and you shouldn’t have trouble clearing this Cell. Our High Evolutionary and Executioner each had 4 Red and Yellow Stars, and they are both level 105, and we successfully completed it with them.

Cell 7: Hero

Suggested team: Absolute A-Force + Sentry / Odin

For this Cell, the best choice is to use Absolute A-Force characters plus a fast one—we chose Sentry.

At the very start, use Kahhori to attack Cannonball because he has Taunt. Once you remove his Taunt, your primary target should be Old Man Logan. With two Basics and her Special, Kahhori will strip all buffs from enemies and apply Trauma, Heal Block, Offense Down, and multiple Bleeds to everyone. Always keep OML as your main target to eliminate him as quickly as possible. When the New Mutants drop below 50% health, they’ll get buffs, including Safeguard, but that won’t save them for long. After you take out OML, focus on Warlock and Wolfsbane. By this point, all your Absolute A-Force characters will have Safeguard and Immunity, so enemy attacks won’t do much damage. Sentry will be the only one debuffed, but even if he gets knocked out, it isn’t an issue.

When only one enemy is left, Jeff, Gwenpool, and Deadpool will appear. Your main target should be Jeff, then finish off the other two. Absolute A-Force should be able to clear this Cell without much trouble.

If your characters aren’t level 105 and GT19 or 20, it’s best to bring Odin instead of Sentry—he’ll make this mission even easier.

Cell 8: Global Villain

Suggested team: Undying + Omega Red (Phoenix Force)

In our opinion, this is the toughest Cell in the entire Tower, so here’s a more detailed walkthrough compared to the others. We recommend using the Undying team, except for Hela (since she’s Cosmic and can’t be used here). Instead, bring Omega Red (Phoenix Force). It’s crucial to have Omega Red (Phoenix Force) maxed, as he’ll be one of your main damage dealers. Alongside him, strong Scarlet Witch (Zombie) and Juggernaut (Zombie) are very useful. We completed this mission with Omega Red and Scarlet at level 110, while the rest of the team was at 105.

At the very beginning, it’s important to open the fight smartly. Use the Specials of Kestrel (Zombie), Juggernaut (Zombie), and Scarlet Witch (Zombie)—you’ll be forced to attack Sasquatch due to his Taunt. After removing his Taunt with Juggernaut’s Special, use Iron Man (Zombie)’s Special to Ability Block Northstar. This prevents Northstar from using his Ultimate, which would remove Revive from Kestrel (Zombie), inflict heavy damage, and trigger Shadow King’s pin. Northstar will then only be able to use a Basic attack, and Omega Red (Phoenix Force) will get his turn—target Shadow King and use Special.

After this move, Spider-Man (Big Time) will attack with his Ultimate, triggering Shadow King’s pin as well, but your characters should be well-buffed and have good mitigation, so this won’t be a big issue. Shadow King will only be able to use a Basic attack because Omega Red (Phoenix Force) applied Ability Block earlier. Now, focus on eliminating Shadow King as quickly as possible and then clear out the remaining enemies—use only Basic attacks at this stage, as you want to save your abilities for the next enemy wave.

If Skrull happens to kill Juggernaut (Zombie), don’t worry—Scarlet Witch (Zombie) will passively summon a new one. In fact, this is even better, since the newly summoned Juggernaut (Zombie) will have his Special ready when the second wave arrives.

When only two enemies remain alive, the rest will enter: the Phoenix Force team together with Nightcrawler. They’ll have Immunity and Defense Up, but thanks to Kestrel (Zombie), they can’t get Safeguard. This is the perfect time to unleash all the abilities you’ve saved—mostly Ultimates. If Scarlet has summoned a new Juggernaut (Zombie) (i.e., your original died), use the new one’s Special. With your abilities, you’ll strip all buffs, apply crucial debuffs, and gain an advantage that’s hard to lose.

The most important thing at this stage is timing—try to have your characters’ Speed Bars nearly full (not all, but most) when the second wave arrives. This can make all the difference. Your primary target should be Magneto (Phoenix Force), as he’s the fastest, followed by Omega Red (Phoenix Force).

When your Omega Red (Phoenix Force) and Scarlet Witch (Zombie) use their Ultimates, they’ll deal excellent damage and put you in a strong position to finish this Cell. It’s essential to have at least these two maxed out (GT20 Level 110). The enemies have huge HP pools and massive stats—and as you know, the enemy Omega Red (Phoenix Force) can steal HP and heal himself, making him very tough to deal with.

One tricky moment is when you eliminate Phoenix—she’ll return as Dark Phoenix and deal heavy damage. That’s why you need maxed-out characters able to survive those bursts and finish off the enemies in time.

Cell 9: Hero

Suggested team: Fantastic Four (MCU) + Professor Xavier

In this Cell, use the F4 (MCU) team together with Professor Xavier. You can also bring Odin if you haven’t used him in Cell 7, since after this Cell you won’t be able to use Mythic characters anymore—so this is your last chance.

The enemies here are Heroes for Hire and Young Avengers, who have highly boosted stats and a lot of HP. Still, most players have very strong Fantastic Four (MCU) characters and Professor Xavier, so these older teams shouldn’t pose any real threat.

There’s no need to go into a detailed strategy—this is the easiest Cell in the second half of the Tower, and your team will breeze through it. The opponents might hang on a bit longer due to their huge stats, but sooner or later, you’ll eliminate them all and complete this Cell.

Cell 10: Non-Mythic Skill or Non-Mythic Mystic

Suggested team: Brimstone

This Cell is designed for the Brimstone team, and at the start, you’ll face Guardians of the Galaxy opponents. Don’t use Daimon and Hellcat’s Ultimates right away—just stick to Basic attacks. Once you remove Taunt from Drax, focus on taking down Star-Lord, then Gamora. When Daimon gets his second turn, you can use his Special for excellent damage, then finish off the rest of the enemies.

In the second wave, Jeff, Sasquatch, Groot, Howard, Rocket, and Cosmo will appear. Now’s the time to unleash all your abilities and wipe out these enemies. Focus on Sasquatch first since he has Taunt, and try to eliminate him as quickly as possible. After that, Jeff the Land Shark should be your primary target, followed by the remaining opponents.

This Cell isn’t difficult at all for a well-built Brimstone team.

Cell 11: Non-Mythic Global

Suggested team: Winter Guard

The second-to-last Cell in War Tower is reserved for the Winter Guard team. Right at the start, your team—especially Red Guardian—needs to be strong enough to withstand Kahhori’s initial attacks, as she will go twice with Basic and then use her Special. She won’t be able to remove your positive effects or apply negative ones because of Silence, but she can still deal massive damage. If Red Guardian’s HP drops, Ursa Major will passively gain Taunt and step in as the protector.

After Kahhori, Medusa, Moon Girl, and Ms. Marvel (Classic) will take their turns, so your team will need to survive all that damage until Darkstar’s turn. Once she’s up, use her Ultimate to turn the fight in your favor.

Try to eliminate Kahhori, Thanos, and Dormammu first, then the rest of the enemies.

In the second wave, Falcon (Joaquin), Quicksilver, and Doctor Doom will join the fight. Use Omega to Ability Block Doom, and focus on taking out Quicksilver. After you eliminate him, the rest of the battle will be much easier.

Enemies in this Cell can deal a ton of damage, so be careful. Your Winter Guard team must be strong enough to survive the initial onslaught. After that, play smart—don’t let the enemies take too many turns at critical moments. Control or eliminate them in time. While this Cell isn’t extremely difficult, you do need a very strong Winter Guard team to clear it without major issues.

Cell 12: Non-Mythic Cosmic Villain

Suggested team: Shadow Conclave (no Malekith) + Silver Surfer (Breaker)

This Cell is best tackled with the Shadow Conclave team, and it’s highly recommended to bring Silver Surfer (Breaker) alongside them. Don’t leave out Sylvie—instead, leave Malekith on the bench. Malekith won’t contribute much in this Cell, while Sylvie’s passive damage reduction for enemies can be the key difference between a successful clear and a failed run.

We gave Thanos the Fortifier Iso-8 class to boost his mitigation. Sylvie’s passive helps a lot, but even so, the enemies can still deal massive damage and may eliminate Thanos, who will have Taunt for most of the fight and thus soak up the majority of incoming damage. If your Executioner doesn’t have Diamonds and has only 3 or 4 Yellow/Red Stars (like ours), make sure to give him the Skirmisher class so he can reliably apply Ability Block to most enemies with his Ultimate.

At the start, your primary target should be Quasar. Use Thanos’s Special on him, and with Executioner, also keep Quasar as the main target when using his Ultimate. The main goal is to land Ability Block on as many enemies as possible—especially Mephisto, Quasar, Shadow King, and Emma Frost (X-Men). The more, the better.

If all enemies are Ability Blocked, use Silver Surfer (Breaker)’s Special and target Quasar. If not, use his Special on those without Ability Block, as Silver Surfer will apply it. If Quasar isn’t Ability Blocked, his Ultimate can kill your protector, Thanos, and the adjacent character/s. Shadow King and Emma can wreak havoc with their Specials, and Mephisto’s Special can apply Taunt to Cable and Jean Grey, completely disrupting your focus on Quasar and Shadow King. That’s why it’s crucial to have these characters’ Ability Blocked after Executioner and Silver Surfer (Breaker) take their turns.

For Iso-8 classes: we used Fortifier on Thanos (for mitigation), Skirmisher on Executioner (for reliable debuffs), Raider on High Evolutionary and Sylvie, and Striker on Silver Surfer (Breaker) because his bonus attack on Vulnerable targets does huge damage. We positioned Thanos in the middle, with Breaker and Executioner next to him, and Sylvie and High Evolutionary on the ends. This setup lets Thanos passively provide Ability Energy to your main damage dealers, after we kill enemies, so they can use their abilities more often.

After Thanos, Executioner, and Silver Surfer (Breaker) take their turns, you’ll need to survive a few enemy attacks—even Basic attacks can be dangerous. This is where Sylvie is crucial, as her passive reduces enemy damage by 30%. When High Evolutionary’s turn comes, use his Special for huge damage, then follow up with Sylvie’s Ultimate. This should drop several enemies into the red, triggering Thanos’s Passive and filling Executioner’s Speed Bar. Use Executioner to finish off Quasar.

After you eliminate two enemies, Blastaar, Thunderstrike, and Kahhori will appear. However, Shadow King and Mephisto remain higher-priority targets at this stage. If at least one enemy is down by the time Silver Surfer (Breaker) gets his second turn, he’ll have Ability Energy from Thanos and can use his Ultimate. This makes a huge difference—not only does it deal massive damage and strip positives from enemies while applying Heal Block, but it also gives your whole team Speed Up, letting you go before the opponents and control or eliminate them.

As enemies are eliminated and their health drops into the red, Silver Surfer (Breaker) and Executioner will keep receiving extra Ability Energy, and Executioner will gain Speed Bar from Thanos’s Passive, allowing you to finish them off without much trouble.

The key to this mission is to give Executioner the Skirmisher class if he’s not strong enough, and to use Sylvie instead of Malekith. This makes the mission much more manageable and ensures you can successfully complete War Tower.

Conclusion

The first six Cells weren’t a major challenge—we’ll see how things go with Cells 7 to 12 next week. The most important thing is to have strong War teams ready: Shadow Conclave, Winter Guard, Brimstone, Undying, and one of the older War teams like Liberty or Absolute A-Force, which you can pair with a strong plug-and-play character such as Odin or Sentry.

In addition to these, you’ll also need F4 (MCU) characters along with Professor or Quasar. Retcon, Omen, and Secret Warrior are nice bonuses, but they aren’t necessary for the first six Cells in War Tower.

The second part of War Tower—specifically Cells 7 through 12—is, in our opinion, much tougher than the first six, with significantly stronger enemies and more challenging setups. However, they are still manageable. That said, if you don’t have powerful War teams, don’t be fooled into thinking you can successfully complete this War Tower. Your Undying, Brimstone, Winter Guard, and Shadow Conclave characters need to be almost maxed out. It’s not absolutely necessary for everyone to be at max level and GT20, but the key members of these teams should be at the levels and gear tiers mentioned. Even the Absolute A-Force team used in Cell 7 needs to be strong—you don’t need level 110 there, but even investing in level 105 is far from cheap.

The bottom line is that this is a demanding Tower with rewards that let you strengthen Jeff the Land Shark. You can get enough of his shards to promote him to 7 Red Stars if you’ve done reasonably well in War so far, and you can upgrade his Basic and Ultimate to Awakened level. However, you don’t get anything else as a reward—not Gold, not Training Materials, not Gear, not Power Cores—so it’s worth questioning whether these rewards are really worth the investment if your War teams aren’t strong enough. In our opinion, they aren’t quite worth it. Jeff is a powerful character who, aside from being great in War Defense, has more than solid usefulness in Battleworld and Cosmic Crucible, but considering everything, they could have included some crucial resources we previously mentioned as rewards, alongside his Shards and Awakened Abilities.
