Overpower

The newest introduction to us players will be a new balancing system called overpower. The logic behind it is that teams wholly or highly upgraded in 3 main categories (level, iso-8, and gear tier) are still easily beaten by their counter teams even if they are less upgraded.

At launch, overpower will have 12 ranks and the first-tier bonus, and it will only be usable in pvp. It is intended to have three tiers of overpower bonuses, but the other two will be added post-launch.

Ranks at launch have been changed to theese:

  • Rank 1 – Unlocks at Character Level 50
  • Rank 2 – Unlocks at Gear Tier 10
  • Rank 3 – Unlocks at Iso-8 Green Level 5
  • Rank 4 – Unlocks at Character Level 75
  • Rank 5 – Unlocks at Gear Tier 15
  • Rank 6 â€“ Unlocks at Iso-8 Blue Level 5
  • Rank 7 – Unlocks at Character Level 95
  • Rank 8 â€“ Unlocks at Gear Tier 19
  • Rank 9 â€“ Unlocks at Iso-8 Purple Level 3
  • Rank 10 â€“ Unlocks at Character Level 105
  • Rank 11 â€“ Unlocks at Gear Tier 20
  • Rank 12 â€“ Unlocks at Iso-8 Purple Level 5 (unobtainable at launch)

Because there are three categories for upgrading your characters, there will be 3 tiers of bonuses, each more powerful than the one before.

For example, if your character level is 100 and your opponent is 95 you will have a tier-one bonus, and if you add other categories, it will add up to a maximum of tier-three. One overpower rank higher will give you a 50% bonus to damage and focus.

This will have the most impact on the Cosmic Crucible and War game mods. It means that your teams, even if they are natural counters, will have much smaller chances of winning if they are not upgraded as much as your opponent. This practically doesn’t bring anything strategic or interesting to the game, it only demands from you that you grind more and spend more time on upgrading your teams rather than think about characters and counters. Yes, it won’t completely negate the fact that some teams counter others, and that will still be a very important thing in the game, but it takes away the satisfaction you have when you defeat an opponent with much higher team power.

Overpower-PVE

Overpower will now be seen in both PVP and PVE game mods. With the new age arriving, and its first team, thunderbolts, their showcase and Blitz game mod will be the first to include the PVE overpower mechanic. Only tier 1 bonuses will be active at first. In Blitz, enemy overpower rank will never exceed a player’s obtainable rank, and all showcases after the Thunderbolts will have Overpower in them. Active PVE events, like raids, won’t have Overpower in them, but Overpower will be included in all the new raids and game mods. PVE Overpower mechanic will arrive on April 28th.
