Old Man Logan Trials
Intro
Old Man Logan is the first Legendary character of the Age Of X saga, and his unlock method will be through the updated version of Trials, similar to how it was with Green Goblin (Classic), Nova, and Black Cat. All Trials are modified Scourge Events, so their structure should be familiar to everyone.
The Pacts (Scourges in Horsemen’s events) can alter the flow of battles either to your benefit or detriment. All Pacts have point modifiers that depend on the difficulty of the Pact, and by having more Pacts active, you can increase your final Run Score.
The core of the Event will be the same, with some changes. On Old Man Logan Trials we will have 15 Difficulties for all ranges of player progression. All players who are level 50+ can participate in Old Man Logan Trials. You can quit each node and try again until you reach the desired result.
Unlock
There will be no Character Shards in the rewards. And Old Man Logan will be recruited through Upgrade Tokens. Upgrade Tokens will instantly unlock a specific Star Level for him. All players who achieve a run score of 930,000 points will get a 4-star Old Man Logan Token. This score can be achieved by completing Difficulty 8 with no Pacts. Difficulty 8 should be about as hard as Difficulty 6 of the previous Trials.
Speaking of Difficulties, here are some crucial changes related to these Trials compared to the previous ones:
- Players will be able to unlock Old Man Logan at 4 Yellow Stars by completing Difficulty 8. Difficulty 8 will not have Yellow Star requirements.
- There are 5 new difficulties for a total of 15. These new difficulties will reward players who upgrade their required teams to 5 Yellow Stars and more.
To summarize – there are 15 difficulties in total. Starting with difficulty 11 and up, the specific teams (Out of Time and Cabal + Loki and Emma) required for Mission 2, 5, and 10 will require characters at 5 or more Yellow Stars.
This and all subsequent Old Man Logan (OML) Trials will not have a Leaderboard. This means that a new trend has been established. Each new Trial will have a Leaderboard the first time it appears in the game. However, from the second appearance onward, the Trials will not have a Leaderboard. This also means that in order to obtain Old Man Logan at 7 Yellow Stars, you must complete Difficulty 15. In other words, you must have Out Of Time, Cabal, Emma Frost, and Loki at 7 Yellow Stars.
- Milestone 8 (1,1M points required): 4 OML Yellow Stars
- Milestone 9 (1,6M points required): 1 OML Red Star
- Milestone 10 (2,3M points required): 2 OML Red Stars
- Milestone 11 (3,3M points required): 5 OML Yellow Stars
- Milestone 12 (4,7M points required): 3 OML Red Stars
- Milestone 13 (6,7M points required): 6 OML Yellow Stars
- Milestone 14 (9,5M points required): 4 OML Red Stars
- Milestone 15 (13,5M points required): 7 OML Yellow Stars

Required teams for nodes 2, 6, and 10 for Difficulties 5 and above are Out of Time and Cabal with Emma Frost and Loki. If we plan to do Difficulties 11 and above, we will need all those Characters at 5+ Yellow Stars.
Difficulty 1 is without restrictions, and Difficulty 2 only has restrictions for 3 Missions (Mission 7 – Cosmic / Mission 8 – Hero / Mission 9 – Villain).
Difficulty 3 and 4 have no restrictions on Missions 1, 2, 6, and 10. The other Missions (Mission 3 and 7 – Cosmic / Mission 4 and 8 – Hero / Mission 5 and 9 – Villain).
Difficulty 4 has no restrictions on Mission 1. The other Missions (Mission 2 – Out of Time / Mission 3 – Cosmic / Mission 4 – Hero / Mission 5 and 9 – Vilain / Mission 6 – Cabal, Emma Frost, and Loki / Mission 7 – Cosmic Bio / Mission 8 – Hero Skill / Mission 10 – Out of Tima, Cabal, Emma Frost, and Loki).
- WORLD AT WAR – All Alliance War abilities are active during this run
- EXPERIMENTAL SERUM II – Enemies gain +20% Max Health
- EXPERIMENTAL SERUM III – Enemies gain +30% Max Health
- GODSPEED, SPIDER-MAN – Spider-Society characters gain +15% Damage and Sinister Six characters get +10% Max Health
- FORGED IN FIRE – All Crucible abilities are active during this run.
- BERSERKER BARRAGE – When any character defeats an enemy, fill their Speed Bar by 20%
- I SEE YOU… – On Spawn, Controller characters gain Taunt
- COSMIC BALANCE – All Cosmic Heroes get +10% Crit Damage and 15% Crit Chance, but your Cosmic Villains get -20% Damage and -20% Max Health
- MYSTERIO’S TRIUMPH – Hero characters deal an extra 10% Damage to other Hero characters
Two key pacts will be focused on War and Crucible. This is logical because Out of Time is a War-specialized team, and Cabal is Crucible-specialized. And those two teams are essential for these Trials.
WORLD AT WAR and FORGED IN FIRE can also make our lives much more difficult because the enemies will have the same bonuses. However, we recommend those Pacts to anyone who plans to get serious with Old Man Logan Trials since we gain more than we lose.
EXPERIMENTAL SERUM II and III are simply health boosts to enemies, so if you find some nodes tricky or unbeatable, you can always turn those off.
GODSPEED, SPIDER-MAN will significantly strengthen our Spider-Society team, and that will be indispensable to us in Missions 4 and 8. However (as for all other Pacts), this can also positively affect our enemies, so it can be a two-edged sword.
BERSERKER BARRAGE can only help us because every time our character kills one of the opponents, it will fill the Speed Bar by 20%. If it happens that the opponent kills us, we will have to reset the Mission in most cases. We can’t see how this can harm us – turn it on.
I SEE YOU… can be very nasty. Some of the characters most players will use in the Trials are Controllers: Emma, Loki, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Ghost Spider, etc. It will be very awkward when (on Spawn) they get Taunt and thus enable the enemies to quickly eliminate them. As long as it is not required for a specific score, we recommend turning off this Pact.
COSMIC BALANCE will buff the Cosmic Hero characters we will use, but it will also nerf our Super Skrull. Which, along with Nova, will be the mainstay of our Cosmic Bio team for Missions 3 and 7. This can be crucial, especially in the higher difficulties of Trials.
MYSTERIO’S TRIUMPH directly buffs Hero Characters when they attack opposing Hero Characters. It can be serviceable, but it can also be harmful.
In conclusion, Traits that we can turn off to make Runs easier are:
- EXPERIMENTAL SERUM II and III
- I SEE YOU…
- COSMIC BALANCE
Everything else we should include to make sure we get the best score possible. We may change this advice after the Old Man Logan Trials become active in the game and we thoroughly test them.
After a complete run on difficulty 15 with all Pacts turned on, we concluded that we should turn on all Pacts for the best score. None of the Pacts is making the run significantly harder. Of course, you can always make it easier by turning off EXPERIMENTAL SERUM II and III so the opponents will have less HP.
In order to collect 7 Yellow Stars for Old Man Logan, it is necessary to achieve a score of 13.5 million. Unfortunately, difficulty 14 with all Pacts is not enough to reach that score. That’s why difficulty 15 without a single Pact is enough. It is better to include all Pacts (except HP buff Pacts) because the bonuses obtained from them make the characters we use much more effective.
Include all Pacts except EXPERIMENTAL SERUM II and III when playing Difficulty 15 Old Man Logan Trials.

Recommendations
To simplify things, we will provide node breakdowns for Difficulties 8 and above, since those are the difficulties you should aim for to comfortably get the unlock.
If you don’t have the required teams, you can try doing the first Node on Difficulty 15 with no Pacts, or with only War/Crucible Pacts on, if you’re using a War/Crucible team. That node has no restrictions and if you complete it, you will have enough points for an unlock.
Of course, if you’re aiming for a good Leaderboard rank, you will need to complete all nodes on the highest difficulty available to you, and our guide can help you with that.
Mission 1 (No requirements)
Since there are no requirements just use the strongest team/characters that you have. Because of the WORLD AT WAR and FORGED IN FIRE Pact, any War or Crucible specialized team would be a good choice for node 1.
Walkthrough:
For Mission 1 it is best to use some characters whose cooldowns you want to fill for some of the following missions. We used 3 Cabal Characters, Apocalypse, and a Super Skrull.
The first mission is by far the easiest. You don’t have to use anything but Basics (possibly Namor Special because it has low Ability Energy cost). Focus on Rescue and Kestrel at the start, and when Maria Hill and Mockingbird appear, get rid of them. With Namor and The Leader as Strikers and Patriot as Skirmisher, everything will be much faster and easier. Later, when Fury and Widow appear, kill them first. Complete the mission and fill up Ability Energy for your characters.
Mission 2 (Out of Time)
Suggested team: Out of Time
Walkthrough:
With Carter, start with Ultimate and thus apply Safeguard to your team so opponents cannot remove your buffs at the start. Focus on the right side of the battlefield (Gwenom, Venom, Strange, Wong). On the second wave of enemies, Stryfe can be tricky because he will protect the others with Taunt, so try to get rid of him as soon as possible. If someone happens to die, Carter can bring them back into the fight with her Special. If your team gets some debuffs, you have more than a few ways to remove them. Focus on Void Knight when he spawns, then kill the others lightly. Make sure you save all Abilities. They may be needed (especially Black Knight). Similar to the first, the second mission is not complicated at all.
Mission 3 (Cosmic Bio)
Suggested team: Super Skrull, Nova, Cosmo, Void Knight, Korg
Alternatives: Photon, Cull Obsidian, Invisible Woman, Phyla-Vell, The Thing, Captain Marvel …
Walkthrough:
With Super Skrull, open up with Ultimate (you build it on 1st mission) and inflict Trauma for 2 turns on all opponents. With Void Knight, its handy to gather all enemies together with Ultimate. Korg can use Special and thus turn-rewind enemies who should play soon. Use Skrull Basic to clear the battlefield. Focus on Lady Deathstrike and Silver Samurai. Take out Magneto and Archangel first when the second wave of enemies comes. If Korg happens to die, Nova or Cosmo will bring him back into play with their Basic. Apocalypse will spawn last. If you’re using Super Skrull, use his Special on Apocalypse to apply Exposed, this will prevent Apocalypse from gaining Safeguard after he uses his Special on his first turn, which will in turn allow you to control him immediately after. If you don’t have Skrull, wait until Apocalypse uses his Ultimate, you will have time to Trauma+Stun him with Nova Special before he uses Impowered Basic. You can keep up your team’s health with Cosmo and finish Apocalypse. After he dies, clear the rest of the enemies.
Mission 4 (Hero Skill)
Suggested team: Black Knight, Ghost-Spider, Peter B. Parker, Peni Parker, Spider-Man (Pavitr); or full Spider-Society team
Alternatives: Spider-Man (Noir), Mockingbird, Ronin, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Kestrel, Star-Lord (Annihilation), Nakia, Okoye, Invader Characters …
Walkthrough:
Black Knight is a great addition to the Spider-Society team for this Mission. Use Penny and Peter B. Parker to get rid of debuffs from opponents, and focus on Lizards, Doctor Octopus, and Kraven at the start. If your characteristics are not strong enough to eliminate them, try to control them (Ability Block, Stun). A good way to start the battle is by using Pav’s Special on Lizard who is adjacent to Kraven. Pav can apply Slow to them, which buys you more time to apply positive effects to your team.
A little later, 2 Spider-Slayer, Green Goblin, and Vulture spawn – focus on Vulture and try to lower their health equally to kill as many of them at once as possible. In the last wave comes Green Goblin (Classic), supported by Kraven and Mysterio. Shift your focus to him. Note that Ability Block won’t work as long as Green Goblin has Charged, that’s why you need to save at least one of Peni Parker’s abilities so that you can Stun Goblin. While you control him you can get rid of the other enemies, just make sure not to let Green Goblin take a turn.
You can also form a complete Spider-Society team, but in that case, it will require two or three sacrifices for the two Lizards and Kraven to use their abilities on the sacrificed teams.
Mission 5 (Villain)
Suggested team: Apocalypse, Super Skrull, Cabal Trio
Alternatives: Black Cat, Morgan Le Fay, Omega Red, Superior/Sinister Six Characters, Underworld Characters, Masters of Evil Characters, Mephisto (if you have him) …
Walkthrough:
If you have the Skrull+Apoc combo Villain Missions will be a walk in the park. You can use Superior/Sinister Six Characters, Masters Of Evil, etc. In Mission 5, the first wave of enemies is easy, and when the second wave comes, control Forge and get rid of Nova as soon as possible (it’s ideal not to let him use the Ultimate). Vulture (combined with two Superior Six characters) is great against X-Treme X-Men opponents because he prevents them from getting Speed Up when they spawn and applies Slow to them. After Nova and Forge are gone, get rid of the others. Gambit could be annoying, but splash damage from Apoc+Skrull attacks should take care of him. With Apoc/Skrull + Superior/Sinister combination of characters, we can turn rewind opponents very often and thus prevent them from playing while we destroy them.
Mission 6 (Cabal, Emma Frost, Loki)
Suggested team: Namor, The Leader, Iron Patriot, Emma Frost, Loki
Walkthrough:
Focus on Vahl from the start. Then on the two Spider-Society Characters (Penny and Peter B.). The other three Society Characters arrive with the second wave, followed by Spider-Weaver with Hero Asgardians. For the Cabal, these opponents are a piece of cake. Eliminate new Vahl and Weaver as soon as possible. After that, slowly clear out everyone else. Try to save as many Abilities as possible but you don’t need to worry about that too much because there will be an opportunity to reset cooldowns later.
Mission 7 (Cosmic Bio)
Suggested team: Super Skrull, Nova, Cosmo, Void Knight, Korg
Alternatives: Photon, Cull Obsidian, Invisible Woman, Phyla-Vell, The Thing, Captain Marvel …
Walkthrough:
Open the fight with Nova’s Ultimate (if you have it ready) (we can no longer use Nova after this Mission – Battlefield Effect will help us from the very start). With Korg, you can rewind the Speed Bar of your opponents and with Cosmo, you can remove buffs and cleanse your team. With Skrull, use Basic and try to save all Abilities for the next Mission where you can use it (Mission 9). When the second wave of enemies drops, focus on Namor. After he goes down, everything else is easy. With all Characters except Skrull, you can use all Abilities, and you will control the fight and finish it without problems. Heroes for Hire cannot handle a Knowhere trio aided by Photon and Skrull.
Mission 8 (Hero Skill)
Suggested team: Black Knight, Ghost-Spider, Peter B. Parker, Peni Parker, Spider-Man (Pavitr); or full Spider-Society team
Alternatives: Spider-Man (Noir), Mockingbird, Ronin, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Kestrel, Star-Lord (Annihilation), Nakia, Okoye, Invader Characters …
Walkthrough:
Like in Mission 4, the Black Knight can help the Spider-Society team in this Mission. Try to get rid of Taunt from Absorbing Man (two of them), and try to kill as many Gamma Characters as you can before Red Hulk Spawns, while at the same time controlling the Masters of Evil characters. Target Brawn for the start, and when She-Hulk appears, try to remove her from the fight as soon as possible (so that she does not passively remove debuffs and throw them at your team). When Kang and Red Hulk appear at the end, if either of the two Hulks is still in play, ignore Red Hulk as he will have Safeguard + Immunity. In that case, focus on Kang first and control Red Hulk after he uses his first turn and loses Immunity. If you can’t eliminate the Red Hulk (sometimes hard to do it if Hulk is still in play and other Gamma characters as well), do not despair. You can kill him on a second attempt with a team composed of alternate characters.
In this node, the full Society team outperforms the combination with Black Knight.
Mission 9 (Villain)
Suggested team: Apocalypse, Super Skrull, Cabal trio
Alternatives: Black Cat, Morgan Le Fay, Omega Red, Superior/Sinister Six Characters, Underworld Characters, Masters of Evil Characters …
Walkthrough:
Opponents in Mission 9 are mostly A-Force and New-Avengers Characters, meaning Heroes, so Vulture in combination with Octopus and Green Goblin Classic will dominate. You don’t need to save Abilities, just use them and get rid of all the obstacles in this fairly easy Mission.
Alternatively, if your Cabal doesn’t have the cooldowns ready for the last node, you can use them here with Apocalypse and Super Skrull. With the two mythics, you can go all out, while with Cabal just use Basics to save up enough energy for their Abilities. You will need those for the last node.
Kang is also an excellent choice if you do not have an Ultimate ready with Apocalypse. He can quickly clear everything. The key is to save the CD with Cabal.
Mission 10 (Out of Time, Cabal, Emma Frost, Loki)
Suggested team: Cabal, Black Knight, Cosmic Ghost Rider
Alternatives: other 3 OOT, Emma Frost, Loki
Walkthrough:
At first, focus on Black Cat and Robbie and use Emma’s Special to get rid of debuffs. The second wave will Spawn Nova, Zombie Iron Man, and Zombie Juggernaut. The Cabal team makes light work of them. It is crucial to kill Nova before he uses Ultimate. After that drops Elsa Bloodstone, Mordo, Green Goblin (Classic), and Robbie. Focus on Ghost Rider (Robbie) and Green Golin, but also try to reduce the health of others to red, essentially making them one hit away from death. Once someone does die, Mephisto will spawn. He is your next target (Striker Skirmisher combo of Cabal characters works here, and you should eliminate him before he takes his second turn. Save Namor’s Special and Ultimate for Mephisto, as well as Leader’s Special. The combination of these abilities will allow you to eliminate Mephisto quickly. The remaining opponents will likely die either because of negative effects or splash damage from Namor’s attacks. Because of the Crucible Pact, Cabal is the ultimate team for this Mission.
Conclusion
While most of our testing was done on difficulty 15 of the Trial, the strategies we use should be applicable to all other difficulties too. Cabal is definitely the ultimate team for these Trials, with Black Knight also being a very important character. So your focus should be on upgrading them, and pay close attention to Cabal’s Abilities because they have some Crucial T4s that you will need for this Trial.
