Invasion Event: Quasar

VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT

Intro

Unlocking Quasar for all active players involves completing different tasks available daily, weekly, and monthly in the Command Center. Additionally, Red Stars for Quasar can be obtained through participation in the Invasion Event.

Quasar is the first Legendary character of the Age Of Annihilus, and his Red Star unlock method is through the updated version of Trials, similar to how it was with Shadow King, Old Man Logan, Green Goblin (Classic), Nova, and Black Cat. All Trials are modified Scourge Events, so their structure should be familiar to everyone.

The Modes (Pacts in Trials and Scourges in Horsemen’s events) can alter the flow of battles either to your benefit or detriment. All Modes have point modifiers that depend on the difficulty of the Mode, and by having more Modes active, you can increase your final Run Score.

The core of the Event is the same, with some changes. On Invasion Event: Quasar we have 10 Difficulties for all ranges of player progression. All players who are level 50+ can participate in Invasion Event: Quasar. You can quit each node and try again until you reach the desired result.

The Invasion Event: Quasar will take place monthly during Chapter 1, starting in May. Players will face various challenges to earn Red Stars for Quasar. The event began with 8 missions in May, followed by 4 additional missions in June, and concludes with the final 4 missions in July.

The updated Invasion Event Quasar now features 10 missions where players can utilize Harbinger characters.

Unlocking Yellow and Red Stars

Red Stars for Quasar can be earned by achieving specific Run Scores that align with key Milestones. To obtain these, you’ll need to attempt runs at higher difficulties. Selecting a Difficulty Level from 1-10 allows you to customize your runs, with higher difficulties imposing stricter character trait requirements but offering greater rewards. Additional points can be earned by activating Mods, which may either aid or challenge both Commander characters and enemies.

If you’ve already unlocked Quasar, he can be used on every Mission node to provide significant firepower.

The updated Quasar Invasion Event allows you to earn up to 7 Yellow Stars and 4 Red Stars for Quasar. Additionally, milestone rewards in the event provide Dark Promotion Credits, which can be used to promote Quasar to Red Star Levels 5 and above.

Requirements

invasion event quasar requirements

Difficulties 5 and above will require the following traits:

  • Missions 1 & 2: No Restrictions
  • Missions 3 & 4: Vigilante OR Thunderbolt
  • Missions 5 & 6: Accursed OR Fantastic Four (MCU)
  • Missions 7 & 8: Vigilante OR Thunderbolt
  • Missions 9 & 10: Accursed OR Fantastic Four (MCU)

To do Difficulty 5, you can use the mentioned teams/characters without any specific requirements. However, for Difficulty 6 and 7, those characters need to have 5 Yellow Stars. For Difficulty 8 and 9, the requirement increases to 6 Yellow Stars, and for Difficulty 10, you’ll need characters with 7 Yellow Stars.

To prepare for the upcoming Invasion Event, focus on upgrading and enhancing the Vigilante and Fantastic Four (MCU) teams, as they will be essential for the all missions. We believe that neither Thunderbolt nor the Accursed team will be necessary since Vigilante and the Fantastic Four (MCU) will handle everything effectively.

After completing the Invasion Event: Quasar on the highest difficulty (10) with all Modes, it seems that a team of 4 Vigilante characters (excluding Elektra) alongside Quasar proves to be the most effective combination for successfully tackling Missions 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8. The Fantastic Four (MCU) characters, excluding The Thing, will join forces with Quasar for Missions 5, 6, 9, and 10.

Modes

List of Modes for the Invasion Event: Quasar:

  • HARBINGER OF ANNIHILUS
    • Quasar gains the following traits: Vigilante, Thunderbolt, and Accursed. Increase the Damage, Armor, Resistance, and Focus of Quasar. This will depreciate in power on the next run

    • On Spawn, Quasar gains Damage, +45% Assist Chance, and the following effects for 2 turns: Speed Up and Safeguard
  • FIERY TEMPERMENT
    • When a Fantastic Four (MCU) character is attacked, Human Torch gains +20% Speed Bar

    • When a Character Dies, their Allied Bio Characters Gain Evade
  • EXPERIMENTAL SERUM III
    • Enemies Gain +30% Max Health

  • BIO-ARMOR

  • SOUL STEAL
    • When a Mystic Villain character defeats an enemy, generate 2 Ability Energy for themself
  • VILE RALLY
    • On Enemy Death, Clear All Negative Effects From Enemies
  • FORGED IN FIRE
    • All Cosmic Crucible abilities are active during this run
  • THRONE DEFENDERS
    • When an enemy uses their basic attack, they also apply 1 Bleed to the primary target
    • When an enemy uses their special attack, they also apply 1 Heal Block to the primary target
    • When an enemy uses their ultimate attack, they also apply 1 Blind to the primary target
  • ENERGY ABSORPTION
    • On An Enemy Character’s Turn, Remove All Negative Effects And Heal 10% Per Negative Effect Removed
  • STORM WARNING
    • All Raid Abilities are active during this run
  • WORLD AT WAR
    • All War Abilities are Active During this Run
  • ROPE A DOPE
    • When An Enemy Character Ends Their Turn with Vulnerable, They Gain Defense Up, Deflect, Deathproof, and Immunity.

STORM WARNING, WORLD AT WAR, and FORGED IN FIRE are three key Modes, and will be focused on Raid, War, and Crucible. This is logical because Vigilante and Thunderbolt are a Raid-specialized teams, Quasar is War-specialized character, and Accursed is Crucible-specialized team. Those three teams and Quasar are essential for these Trials.

Those three Modes can also make our lives much more difficult because the enemies will have the same bonuses. However, we recommend those Modes to anyone who plans to get serious with Invasion Event: Quasar since we gain more than we lose.

HARBINGER OF ANNIHILUS and QUUUAAAASSAARRRRR! are a boost for our Quasar that we use in this Invasion Event, so we recommend turning this on.

EXPERIMENTAL SERUM III is simply health boosts to enemies, so if you find some nodes tricky or unbeatable, you can always turn this off.

ROPE A DOPE Mode presents a significant challenge for the Vigilante team due to its reliance on Vulnerables as a core mechanic. This Mode complicates their strategy, as they are highly effective at applying Vulnerables to opponents, which is integral to their gameplay. Navigating this will require careful planning and adaptability, making it one of the more complex Modes to overcome.

THRONE DEFENDERS acts as an advantage for our opponents, as each time they activate an ability, it triggers an extra negative effect that can impact our characters.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE introduces a unique dynamic to gameplay. It enhances the Crit Chance and Crit Damage for all City characters, regardless of allegiance, which can be advantageous for certain strategies. However, it simultaneously weakens the player’s Villain characters by reducing their Damage and Max Health. This is particularly relevant for our three Vigilante and Thunderbolt Villain characters: Elektra, Ghost, and Taskmaster. As a result, this mode can present challenges in optimizing team composition and strategy.

EVASIVE MANEUVERS will boost significantly more opponents than our characters. Because when any character dies, their Bio allies will get Evade. If we plan to successfully complete this Invasion Event, our characters must not die, so the Thunderbolt team, with all Bio characters, will not profit much from this Mode.

The VILE RALLY and ENERGY ABSORPTION Modes indeed seem to significantly increase the difficulty of the Invasion Event: Quasar. If these mods are essential to achieving the score required to unlock all Red Stars, it will undoubtedly be a challenging endeavor. Careful strategy and team optimization will be crucial to overcoming these obstacles and maximizing the rewards.

FORGED IN FIRE makes all Cosmic Crucible abilities active, that makes your Accursed characters stronger, but enemies also. Since you won’t use the Accursed for clearing it will only make your runs harder. SOUL STEAL is also a buff to the Accursed team, and since your characters shouldn’t die on your runs it should be equipped to give more score points.

BIO-ARMOR is fantastic buff to your Thunderbolts, since on any kill allied Bio characters gain Safeguard

Focus on building a strong Vigilante team and then you can turn on all Modes. If you find it too challenging, consider disabling the EXPERIMENTAL SERUM III Mode to simplify the process. You can also turn off VILE RALLY and ENERGY ABSORPTION. Additionally, prioritize equipping the HARBINGER OF ANNIHILUS mod, as it significantly enhances Quasar by boosting his stats and granting him the Vigilante and Thunderbolt traits, along with their associated advantages. Not to mention that WORLD AT WAR and STORM WARNING should always be selected. With a strong enough Vigilante team you will be able to get all Milestone rewards, but to finish the whole run on the highest difficulty you need to have strong Thunderbolts too.

Invasion Event: Quasar Walkthrough and Video

You can view our Walkthrough of this Invasion Event on YouTube. Below you can also find descriptions of strategies used to defeat each node.

These walkthroughs are Difficulty 10 with all Modes included, but you can use it as a guide if you play on lower difficulties and with fewer Mods included.

Recommendations

To simplify things, we will provide node breakdowns for Difficulties 5 and above, since those are the difficulties you should aim for to get Red Stars.

Mission 1 (No Restrictions)

Suggested team: Punisher, Silver Sable, Daredevil (Modern), Hit-Monkey, Quasar

Walkthrough:

This is a relatively easy mission where it’s crucial to start by applying Ability Block to Kang, Howard, Havok, and Vahl using Quasar’s Ultimate. Afterward, focus on eliminating these specific enemies as quickly as possible. There’s no need to save abilities because the Vigilante team has an exceptional ability to restore Ability Energy (due to Raid rules being active).

In the second wave of enemies, prioritize targeting Kang and Lilandra. Once more enemies arrive, your primary targets for elimination should be the Starjammer characters and Vahl. Always aim to attack enemies who have Vulnerable status, as this will allow your characters to fill their Speed Bars faster and take turns more frequently.

Mission 2 (No Restrictions)

Suggested team: Punisher, Silver Sable, Daredevil (Modern), Hit-Monkey, Quasar

Walkthrough:

At the start, use the Ultimate ability with Quasar on Lizard and Peter B. Parker, followed by the Ultimate ability with Silver Sable. With Hit-Monkey, use the Ultimate ability and target Kahhori (to Stun her and Spider-Man Pavitr). After that, focus on eliminating Green Goblin (Classic), ensuring he doesn’t get a chance to play, and then take out the other opponents.

When the second wave of enemies arrives, your abilities should be ready to use again. Focus on the new Green Goblin (Classic) and Ms. Marvel (Classic), and then move on to Peni Parker.

In the final wave of enemies, two Medusa and a new Peni will appear, which can be eliminated easily. Toward the end, use Basic attacks with your characters to conserve Ability Energy for the next mission.

Mission 3 (Vigilante OR Thunderbolt)

Suggested team: Punisher, Silver Sable, Daredevil (Modern), Hit-Monkey, Quasar

Walkthrough:

Start with Quasar’s Ultimate – target Darkhawk – this will allow you to apply Ability Block to several key enemies. With Silver Sable, use her Ultimate to remove buffs from the enemies, and with Hit-Monkey, use his Ultimate on Omega Sentinel to Stun her. His Ultimate will also Stun one of the Nimrods. After that, focus on the Nimrod who isn’t Stunned and Nova. Once you eliminate the enemies from the first wave, more will arrive, and your priority should again be Omega Sentinel, whom you should Stun with Hit-Monkey as before. When the final wave of enemies arrives, focus on Nova and the two Nimrods first, and then shift your attention to Spider-Weaver and rest of enemies.

Mission 4 (Vigilante OR Thunderbolt)

Suggested team: Punisher, Silver Sable, Daredevil (Modern), Hit-Monkey, Quasar

Walkthrough:

As in every mission so far, we start the fight by using Quasar’s Ultimate. And we are going to use it on the only opponent we can target – Gladiator. Use Silver Sable’s Ultimate to remove buffs from enemies, and with Hit-Monkey, use the Ultimate on Kahhori, which will stun her and Medusa. Then focus on eliminating Knull as quickly as possible, followed by the Annihilator characters.

After that, more enemies will appear. Prioritize Gorr and Red Goblin. In the final wave of enemies, make sure to control Kahhori and Ms. Marvel (Classic) while eliminating the new Red Goblin and Thanos (Endgame) as quickly as possible.

Mission 5 (Accursed OR Fantastic Four (MCU))

Suggested team: Franklin Richards, Mister Fantastic (MCU), Invisible Woman (MCU), Human Torch, Quasar

Walkthrough:

We start the battle by using Quasar’s Ultimate ability, targeting Firestar first. After that, use Franklin’s Ultimate as well. This should clear a large number of enemies from the battlefield. With the remaining characters, use their Basic abilities and focus on taking down Gwenpool first, followed by any other surviving enemies. Make sure to eliminate Carnage, too.

When more enemies arrive in the second wave, prioritize Void Knight first, then move on to the others. This is a very easy mission, so there’s no need to use all your available abilities—it’s better to save them for the upcoming battles.

Mission 6 (Accursed OR Fantastic Four (MCU))

Suggested team: Franklin Richards, Mister Fantastic (MCU), Invisible Woman (MCU), Human Torch, Quasar

Walkthrough:

With Quasar, use the Ultimate ability on Patriot, and with Franklin, use the Basic attack on the same target. For IW (MCU), utilize the Special on Captain America (WW II), which will apply Ability Block to all enemies at that moment. Then, focus on Joaquin and Patriot first, followed by Cap Carter and Captain America (WWII).

When the second wave of enemies arrives, prioritize Peggy Carter. After that, more enemies will appear, but they are relatively easy to eliminate. Finally, in the last wave, you’ll face another Peggy Carter and Falcon (Joaquin). Make sure to eliminate these two first.

This mission is not particularly difficult, so save your abilities as they’re not heavily needed. You can handle most enemies with Basic attacks.

Mission 7 (Vigilante OR Thunderbolt)

Suggested team: Punisher, Silver Sable, Daredevil (Modern), Hit-Monkey, Quasar

Walkthrough:

Use Quasar’s Ultimate and target Falcon (Joaquin) to apply Ability Block to several key opponents at the start of the battle. With Silver Sable, also use her Ultimate, and do the same with Hit-Monkey. Target Wong with Hit-Monkey’s Ultimate, which will Stun him and potentially eliminate him, while also Stunning Falcon (Joaquin). Next, focus on eliminating Quicksilver and Agatha as quickly as possible, followed by Peggy Carter.

When more enemies arrive, you can use Silver Sable’s Ultimate again to remove their buffs and apply critical debuffs. With Hit-Monkey, use his Ultimate on Howards to Stun both him and Patriot. Then, eliminate Red Goblin, followed by Lilandra. Use Quasar’s Ultimate on areas with the highest concentration of enemies to apply Ability Block to as many as possible.

Do not hesitate to use Ultimates and Special abilities with all characters, as defeating enemies will replenish your Ability Energy. Near the end of the fight, you can switch to Basic attacks to finish off the remaining opponents effectively.

Mission 8 (Vigilante OR Thunderbolt)

Suggested team: Punisher, Silver Sable, Daredevil (Modern), Hit-Monkey, Quasar

Walkthrough:

At the start of the battle, use Quasar’s Ultimate and target Spider-Man (Pavitr). This will apply Ability Block to him, Green Goblin (Classic), Lizard, and Hercules. After that, use Silver Sable’s Ultimate to remove buffs and apply debuffs to all enemies. With Hit-Monkey, you need to use the Ultimate on Lizard because Lizard has Taunt, which will Stun both him and Hercules. Then, focus on Super Skrull and Kraven.

When the second wave of enemies arrives, Silver Sable’s Ultimate will be ready to use again. Use it to strip all buffs from them, making it easier to eliminate them. Finally, a few more enemies will appear at the end, but they shouldn’t pose any significant challenge to deal with.

Mission 9 (Accursed OR Fantastic Four (MCU))

Suggested team: Franklin Richards, Mister Fantastic (MCU), Invisible Woman (MCU), Human Torch, Quasar

Walkthrough:

At the start of the battle with Quasar, we use – you guessed it – the Ultimate ability. Target Moon Knight to apply Ability Block to four enemies. With the other characters, focus on Man-Thing. When the second wave of enemies arrives, use Mister Fantastic’s (MCU) Special to Stun Lilandra, and then proceed to eliminate all three Starjammer characters.

Once Lilandra drops below 50% HP, she will summon Gladiator, but this won’t pose a significant problem. Simply add him to the list of characters that need to be eliminated. You can use IW’s (MCU) Special to apply Ability Block to Havok while focusing on Howard. Afterward, Blade, Oath, and Moon Knight will appear, but these three won’t stand much of a chance. Use Quasar’s Special on all three, and finish them off with Basic attacks from the other characters.

It is advisable to set Human Torch as a Skirmisher and all other characters as Strikers. This creates a powerful Striker-Skirmisher combination since Human Torch assists his allies during attacks.

You will face Howard the Duck, Cosmo, and Rocket Raccoon at the end. These three won’t pose much of a challenge either. Control Howard while quickly eliminating the other two first, then finish Howard off at the end.

Mission 10 (Accursed OR Fantastic Four (MCU))

Suggested team: Franklin Richards, Mister Fantastic (MCU), Invisible Woman (MCU), Human Torch, Quasar

Walkthrough:

At the beginning of the mission using Quasar’s Ultimate, we need to target Black Knight because he has Taunt, but we would do this anyway. This will remove all his Charged from him (he has 10 at the start of combat) and apply Ability Block to him and all nearby enemies. With Franklin, you can also use his Ultimate. After that, focus on Nightcrawler. Once he is eliminated, move on to the other enemies.

The second wave of enemies includes Silver Surfer, Starbrand, and Guardian. These three can be eliminated without much trouble.

Finally, Mephisto and two Nightcrawlers will appear. If Quasar’s Ultimate is ready, use it on Mephisto. If not, you can use Invisible Woman’s (MCU) Special ability instead. Focus on Mephisto first and then deal with the Nightcrawlers.

There’s no need to save your abilities since this is the final mission of the Invasion Event.

Conclusion

To successfully navigate the Invasion Event: Quasar, it’s essential to have a strong Vigilante and Fantastic Four (MCU) teams. Ideally, aim for max-level characters and at least GT19 if you want to achieve all the milestones. This will make the event significantly easier for you.
