Finding Xavier: Race to X

VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT

Intro

The Finding Xavier Event starts on April 14th, giving players the chance to recruit Professor X. This event features over 50 missions, and to complete it, players will need a total of 25 GT20 characters, which includes:

  • 5 City Characters
  • 5 Global Villain Characters
  • 5 Global Hero Characters
  • 5 Cosmic Villain Characters
  • Lilandra + 4 Cosmic Hero Characters

This Event, whether referred to as a Saga or Dark Dimension, will consist of four major parts. Each part will contain multiple missions, including Boss missions, and they will all be available on three different difficulty levels: Hard, Heroic, and X-Treme.

To recruit Professor X, players must complete all the missions at each difficulty level with a score of 3 Stars.

To earn Professor Xavier, you’ll need to defeat four Bosses:

  • Nimrod
  • Gladiator
  • Shadow King
  • Dark Xavier

Rewards

Limited Time Race To X Milestone

Complete the Professor Xavier Saga Missions to earn X-Helms (available as First-Time Rewards only) and progress in the Limited-Time Race to X Milestone to earn Professor Xavier Red Stars.

This means that anyone who successfully completes the Professor Xavier Saga within a 30 days will be able to collect 7 Red Stars for him, similar to what was offered in DD VIII with Odin.

The first 100 Commanders to complete the Saga will receive the Xavier Player Frame.

Final Thoughts About Rewards

In conclusion, the rewards offered are quite unsatisfactory. While we do receive a decent amount of Gold, Training Materials such as Iso-8 Ions, and Teal and Crimson gear, we do not earn any Gear Tier 20 Mini Uniques upon completing any part of this Saga. This lack of valuable rewards is disappointing.

Requirements

The main requirement for – is Gear T20, but there are also node specific Trait requirements:

BOSSDIFICULTY# MISSIONSREQUIREMENTSTRAITS
NimrodHard4GT17Any
NimrodHeroic5GT18Any
NimrodX-Treme5GT19Any
GladiatorHard4GT19City
GladiatorHeroic5GT20City
GladiatorX-Treme5GT20City

Shadow KingX-Treme5GT20Heroes Global
Dark XavierHard5GT19Cosmic
Dark XavierHeroic5GT20Vilains Cosmic
Dark XavierX-Treme6GT20Lilandra and Heroes Cosmic

For Hard Difficulty, having GT20 is not required, which means that all players with GT19 characters will be able to complete all four Boss sections of Hard Difficulty. They can also finish the entire first section, which is about Nimrod.

However, to access the Heroic and X-Treme Gladiator, Shadow King, and Dark Xavier sections, players will need characters from GT20, as well as from the categories of City, Global Villains, Global Heroes, Cosmic Villains, and Cosmic Heroes.

Character Suggestions

We will provide the best suggestions for each respective section in a balanced way, meaning that we should have a similar amount of characters of all Traits. In some cases the balance will remain intact, while in others it can tip slightly into one of the Traits. We will try to account for team synergies in each sections, so that clearing the nodes is not too dificult. All provided characters should be useful in at least one of the other game modes to warrant the Gear investment.

Here, we outline the best characters for each section, including both expensive and budget-friendly options. Keep in mind that to complete the Xavier Saga, you need to earn 3 stars in each mission; therefore, not every combination of these characters will easily achieve that goal.

It’s important to understand that “Our Pick” is not the team with the highest chance of achieving 3 stars in missions and doesn’t always have to be your first choice. In other words, you don’t need to select all the characters we suggest. Instead, we recommend teams/characters we believe will offer the solid opportunity to earn 3 stars in missions while maintaining a balanced gear setup. Additionally, we aim to avoid selecting only the most expensive characters to help save time and resources during your progression.

City

  • Punisher – Skill (2 GT20 Skill Items, Molecular Cloth Unique)
  • Daredevil (Modern) – Skill (3 GT20 Skill Items, – S.H.I.E.L.D. Tech Unique)
  • Silver Sable – Skill (3 GT20 Skill Items, – Judas Bullets Unique)
  • Hit-Monkey – Skill (3 GT20 Skill Items, – Gravitonium Unique)
  • Vulture – Tech (2 GT20 Tech Items, H.A.M.M.E.R. Tech Unique)
  • Hobgoblin – Tech (3 GT20 Tech Items, Superhuman Serum Unique)
  • Superior Spider-Man – Tech (3 GT20 Tech Items, Gravitonium Unique)
  • Phantom Rider – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, Judas Bullets Unique)
  • Squirrel Girl – Bio (4 GT20 Bio Items, Unstable Cloth Unique)
  • Gwenpool – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, H.A.M.M.E.R. Tech Unique)
  • Night Thrasher – Tech (3 GT20 Tech Items, Judas Bullets Unique)
  • Daredevil – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Palladium Unique)

Our Pick:

  • Silver Sable – Skill
  • Vulture – Tech
  • Superior Spider-Man – Tech
  • Hobgoblin – Tech
  • Hit-Monkey – Skill

The Vigilante trio (Daredevil (Modern), Silver Sable, and Hit-Monkey) will offer a significant advantage. Additionally, Punisher can serve as an excellent substitute.

It’s important to note that the 3 new Vigilantes will perform exceptionally well because all their bonuses are active. They benefit from the bonuses in Raids and will gain further bonuses when working with 4 Vigilante allies (though they won’t have that many in this scenario).

Global Villains

  • Apocalypse – Mutant (5 GT20 Mutant Items, Astral Energy Unique)
  • Lady Deathstrike – Tech (2 GT20 Tech Items, Adamantium Unique)
  • Omega Red (Phoenix Force) – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Carbonadium Unique)
  • Juggernaut (Zombie) – Bio (2 GT20 Bio Items, Infinite Energy Unique)
  • Scarlet Witch (Zombie) – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Arcane Magic Unique)
  • Emma Frost – Mutant (4 GT20 Mutant Items, Ballistic Weave Unique)
  • Sebastian Shaw – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Luminium Unique)
  • Kestrel (Zombie) – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Fortified Chromium Unique)
  • Magneto (Phoenix Force) – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Fortified Chromium Unique)
  • Lady Bullseye – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, Ballistic Weave Unique)
  • Darkstar – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Astral Energy Unique)
  • Omega Red – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Carbonadium Unique)

Our Pick:

  • Omega Red (Phoenix Force) – Mutant
  • Lady Deathstrike – Tech
  • Juggernaut (Zombie) – Bio
  • Magneto (Phoenix Force) – Mutant
  • Darkstar – Mutant

Using Apocalypse can simplify our strategy, but it’s not essential to utilize him at all. Note that he is a 5-item character, meaning a set. It may be wiser to invest that Gear in other Mutants.

Global Heroes

  • Captain America (Sam) – Skill (3 GT20 Skill Items, Vibranium Unique)
  • Peggy Carter – Skill (3 GT20 Skill Items, S.H.I.E.L.D. Tech Unique)
  • Falcon (Joaquin) – Tech (3 GT20 Tech Items, H.A.M.M.E.R. Tech Unique)
  • Patriot – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Vibranium Unique)
  • Emma Frost (X-Men) – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Promethium Unique)
  • Jean Grey – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Tempered Osmium Unique)
  • Quake – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Vibranium Unique)
  • Domino – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Judas Bullets Unique)
  • Negasonic – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Unstable Cloth Unique)
  • Yo-Yo – Bio (4 GT20 Bio Items, Titanium Alloy Unique)
  • Daimon Hellstrom – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, Luminium Unique)
  • Thunderstrike – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, Uru Unique)
  • Sentry – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Gravitonium Unique)
  • Eclipse – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, Gravitonium Unique)
  • Storm (Mighty) – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Uru Unique)
  • Angel – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Ballistic Weave Unique)

Our Pick:

  • Sentry – Bio
  • Thunderstrike – Mystic
  • Eclipse – Mystic
  • Storm (Mighty) – Mutant
  • Angel – Mutant

Two more older teams can complete the final mission with the Shadow King boss without major issues. However, our recommendation is to stick with the newest team (Our Pick) for the best results, as it is generally smarter to invest in new characters.

Team 1:

  • Emma Frost (X-Men) – Mutant / Jean Grey – Mutant / Daimon Hellstrom – Mystic
  • Patriot – Bio
  • Peggy Carter – Skill
  • Captain America (Sam) – Skill
  • Falcon (Joaquin) – Tech

Team 2:

  • Emma Frost (X-Men) – Mutant / Jean Grey – Mutant / Daimon Hellstrom – Mystic
  • Quake – Bio
  • Negasonic – Mutant
  • Yo-Yo – Bio
  • Domino – Mutant

Here we find war abilities are active. The choices appear to be limited to Liberty or the newer Secret Warriors (without Phantom Rider). There are many powerful options for the last spot however they are not always best. This is because your team is cloned on the final node. Some cloned characters might destroy you once they are cloned and used against you. Clones such as Oldman Logan and Songbird are known to be extremely poor selections.

Cosmic Villains

  • Mephisto – Mystic (5 GT20 Mystic Items, Arcane Magic Unique)
  • Knull – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, Alien Spores Unique)
  • Shadow King – Mutant (4 GT20 Mutant Items, Astral Energy Unique)
  • Blastaar – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Infinite Energy Unique)
  • Thanos – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, Palladium Unique)
  • High Evolutionary – Tech (3 GT20 Tech Items, Titanium Alloy Unique)
  • Executioner – Skill (3 GT20 Skill Items, Judas Bullets Unique)
  • Silver Surfer (Breaker) – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, Quantum Energy Unique)
  • Minn-Erva – Tech (3 GT20 Tech Items, Gamma Radiation Unique)

Our Pick:

  • Knull – Mystic
  • Thanos – Mystic
  • Silver Surfer (Breaker) – Mystic
  • High Evolutionary – Tech
  • Executioner – Skill

Lilandra and Cosmic Heroes

  • Lilandra – Skill (3 GT20 Skill Items, Fortified Chromium Unique) – required
  • Odin – Mystic (5 GT20 Mystic Items, Uru Unique)
  • Havok – Mutant (3 GT20 Mutant Items, Infinite Energy Unique)
  • Quasar – Mystic (3 GT20 Mystic Items, Quantum Energy Unique)
  • Invisible Woman (MCU) – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Molecular Cloth Unique)
  • Mister Fantastic (MCU) – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Unstable Cloth Unique)
  • Franklin Richards – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Unstable Cloth Unique)
  • Human Torch – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Unstable Cloth Unique)
  • Warlock – Tech (3 GT20 Tech Items, Bloodborne Nanobots Unique)
  • Nova (Sam Alexander) – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Palladium Unique)
  • Blue Marvel – Bio (3 GT20 Bio Items, Titanium Alloy Unique) – if you have him

Our Pick:

  • Lilandra – Skill
  • Quasar – Mystic / or Odin if you have enough Mystic gear
  • Invisible Woman (MCU) – Bio
  • Mister Fantastic (MCU) – Bio
  • Franklin Richards – Bio

We have a great selection for this part of Saga. Lilandra is hard-required, and Odin is one of the strongest characters in the game. Fantastic Four (MCU) characters are also a great option. All three characters are Bio, but they are worth the investment.

The smartest choice is to pair Lilandra with the Fantastic Four (MCU) trio and Odin, as they are highly versatile and serve as an excellent option in virtually every game mode.

Odin is a 5-item character, which makes him expensive, so he can be replaced with any of the other suggested characters. This is especially true because, in this part of the Saga, you don’t need to achieve 3 Stars on the last mission to recruit Professor Xavier. So, if Odin is too costly for you, feel free to swap him out for any of the other recommended characters.

Gladiator Heroic and X-Treme (City)

Shadow King Heroic (Global Villain)

Shadow King X-Treme (Global Hero)

Professor Xavier Heroic (Cosmic Villain)

Professor Xavier X-Treme (Cosmic Hero)

Conclusion

Considering all these factors, we believe that dedicated players will not take long to collect everything they need. While it will take some time, hopefully, it won’t be too long.

Ultimately, it’s up to you. We’ve suggested a variety of usable characters and provided our recommendations on how to best use them. If you come up with any effective combinations, we would love to hear about them! Feel free to share your ideas by joining our Discord Server.
