Prepare for arena – starting teams
Making Arena Team for a new player may prove like an extremely difficult job considering what’s needed for assembling the current Meta. However, all new players are placed on Servers with other beginners. The order of unlocking Heroes will make the difference between success and failure.
The Arena is especially important for f2p players because it is the main Power Core farming spot.
I’ll recommend in what order to assemble teams to become competitive. The first team that should be used for Arena is obviously:

- Gamora
- Nebula
- Black Widow
- Hawkeye
- Captain America/Drax
New players usually chose Defenders (Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Punisher, Iron Fist) as the first Arena team but in my opinion, a suggested combination is far more potent and easier to unlock at the start (keeping in mind other PVE needs).
As soon as new players start doing Raids daily, they should start focusing on unlocking Baron Zemo. Once Baron Zemo is unlocked it is time to improve the Arena team.
I think that the second Arena team should look like this:

- Gamora
- Nebula
- Baron Zemo
- Crossbones
- Hydra Grenadier
At this point of the game, fresh players will have more options at their disposal, and they will already start fulfilling the Requirements for unlocking Legendary Heroes. The first Legendary that should be unlocked for Arena is Magneto.
The third Arena team is made of:

- Blob
- Pyro
- Magneto
- Toad
- Juggernaut
Brotherhood of Mutants was the first Arena META, and they will definitely help a new player improve their ranking decently. However, BoM has many flaws, and it is easy to be countered so players should start looking for Phoenix and Black Bolt, and simultaneously trying to reach the requirements for Black Order.
This means that the fourth Arena team should be:

- Colossus
- Phoenix
- Psylocke/Magik
- Cyclops
- Wolverine/Storm
Once Black Bolt has been unlocked everything is ready for unlocking Ebony Maw. Ebony Maw allows assembling the 5th Arena team:

- Proxima Midnight
- Corvus Glaive
- Thanos
- Ebony Maw
- Cull Obsidian
Black Order is a team that is strong enough to boost new players into the top 100 on their Servers (if they carefully planned and organized their roster progression) but they are still not strong enough to grant safe Arena defense.
That is why players need to focus on a better team. The next step should be unlocking Adam Warlock and Infinity Watch.
The following our suggestions grants that half of the team will be already ready for use:

- Gamora
- Moondragon
- Adam Warlock
- Phyla-Vell
- Nebula
Introducing Eternals has briefly changed the Arena Meta emphasizing Icaris and Sersi as “must-have” Hereos, but realistically, Infinity Watch can prevail against any Eternal combination when attacking so it is not mandatory to focus on those Heroes at all costs.
Fresh players should immediately start thinking about how to unlock the current Arena Meta – Darkhold. Members of the Darkhold are:

- Scarlet Witch
- Doctor Strange [Heartless]
- Agatha Harkness
- Morgan Le Fay
- Wong
We have shown an ideal order of assembling Arena teams, but theory-crafting and reality are 2 different things and players will certainly have to use some other teams and Heroes in the process.
At this point, Arena Meta teams are being made so they are literally unbeatable unless with another same Meta, so the order of assembling Arena teams is straightforward – players are forced to farm in a certain order.
While this is a lot easier to explain to fresh players, it kills joy because back in the day the knowledge of all skills and effects was the difference between a win or loss. Today, Custom teams are history, unfortunately.
